Goodbye my Captain
I think the Gio would be more for his leadership since FLA has little xp in the postseason. He might be declining but he isn't done, and would be a great influence on any younger team heading into the playoffs. I agree the two 2nd rounders is a bit much you might get a 4th if FLA convinces themselves they need that kind of leadership in their locker room.

If Duchene stayed in Columbus past 2019 who should Ottawa draft at 21
If Ottawa had that pick I think they should have traded up for Braden Schneider to terrorise Leafs forward for years to come :P And Jake Sanderson would have been a great top pairing for Ottawa, and could have free Chatbot and Brannstrom to roam freely offensively. As a Leafs fan I am happy they will never come to pass. Ottawa will still be stacked and hard to play against in a couple of years when these prospects make it to the show!

Trade With Leafs
I was thinking of a mid tier prospect, because I could see this deal looking really bad for the Rangers in a couple of years when Julian become the 2nd coming of Hyman.
And that not taking into account if Georgiev bounces back!

Trade With Leafs
As a Leafs fan...is it just me or should the Rangers ask for a bit more?

Kings of the North
And they say Leafs fans are delusional. Sorry to tell you, but Buffalo is not taking back 9m (and 2 more years of 4.6m of Real Deal) in salary when the owners can't afford to pay their staff (scouts). You think they would take on that kind of cap hit/real money for so little of a return? (Starting point would probably start with Evan Bouchard) for Buffalo to even pick up the phone, and even then it would probably be shot down by Buffalo ownership cause of the real money.

Also everyone is free to view things the way they like...I'm not saying I'm right. Cause of the end of the day we all view and value our team higher than others, and usually this is where we see lopsided trades in the NHL cause on GM sees things differently then another. So again just cause I see it thing way doesn't make it true. My question was what would it take, but you are so angry with your team that you can't even have a discussion about it. You'd rather be insulted and politely tell me to stuck it lol.
Furthermore we are not in the same division, and we may not be for next year either, and from what I have read there could be a chance the North becomes a mainstay going forward. I hope not, but anything is better than Tampa and Boston in the first round each year...

Let's break down the deal since its such a poor attempt at a trade idea.
If we go 1-1 for each player in the deal
Ullmark for Anderson is pretty much straight up 1-1 since Buffalo ownership would probably like the idea of saving real money (Anderson only owed 1 million of his 5m cap hit)
1st rounder for Taylor Hall is a gross over payment for someone who has 8million cap hit and has 2(or is it 3gs now) Basically paying for what he might do with good players around him.
and Now the part I'm taking most Sabre fans have issue with. Dahlin is not worth more than Morgan Rielly. (You might ask why even make the trade!) In order to open up cap space to do other things we need to part ways with a defensemen and to me Rielly gets you the most.
So if the deal was Robertson and Rielly for Dahlin I think Sabre fans shouldn't be so quick to dismiss this trade as it gives you another asset to trade that is probably worth more since he has 2 yrs left and is a PROVEN 70pt defender. (As nice as it is to be in the honeymoon phase with a player it's been 3 years and Dahlin is trending downwards in player progress regardless if it's team management messing that up or the player it doesn't mean that it will start trending upwards any time soon. I would sell high on everyone on the Sabres roster at this point cause your team is in for a long and rough road ahead and it won't lead to current players being any more valuable.
This deal benefits both teams, and maybe picks going back to the Leafs is a bit much, but the factor mid range picks for a team that has no scouts do you no good, and it help with the over payment with robertson being in the deal with the 1st.

Canucks fans would you accept
Van says no because they need the cap space for any OEL deal. They need to know what there cap looks like before any deals like this one. They lost 3M to Lou retiring!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>etpeck</b></div><div>Yeah you were right on the pipe dream. Anderson is the only one of those players that has any value to the canes. You can not trade quantity for quaity, and then you oh by the why throw the canes top prospect in the deal</div></div>
That's not true at the time the Leafs got Phenuf they trade a bunch of spare parts for what was at the time a solid d-man that Toronto ruined lol

Fleury Rumours
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kukas2600</b></div><div>How ironic. None other than the guy who ended Mike Babcock’s career, twice! 😂
I definitely wouldn’t mind having Fleury, although I think the second would have to be taken off, because of the retention, and Toronto’s pick might have to be a bit higher.
Overall I like the idea though.</div></div>
The rumor is VGK is offering 50% reduction and a 2nd but teams like Carolina are asking for a 1st and 2nd w/ the 50% reduction.
If I'm Toronto I ask for the 1st (29th pick) and hope someone like William Wallinder is still there at 29!
And maybe you can flip Anderson to Carolina now that you took one of their options away.

Get a clue leafs fans, we dont want your goalie</div></div>
It funny you call me clueless, but you are the one overvaluing your goalie. I goalie that has never played more than 40 games in a season compared to a goalie that has played a 60+ games and produced with defense that is considered super weak, but ya you're right its an awful deal for the leafs. We should probably ask for a 2nd as well.

Also confused on why you signed a goalie that will have offers to be a starter to 4m/yr to sit on the Leafs bench?

I didn't realign the lines after the trades with any real purpose it's more would you make the trade? And I would agree with either Nylander on the top line to facilitate the puck or move Laine with Duchene.
As it is I forgot to trade/sign Johnsson...mostly cause I was thinking about trade. Opps.

Well I would agree that no cap is tough, and looking at another season with marincin give the best of people nightmare, but consider his play in the AHL he has earned another shot at that bottom 3 pair. Also next off season the leafs will have more than 10+ million in cap space, and can look to move Marleau at that point to create additional 6m to help resign Karlsson if needed. (Also mean we'd have to say good bye to Gardiner)
