I missed the retained salary aspect. Trade is more reasonable at that price point. I still think Yzerman would prefer to keep Wallinder over Trouba.

Wouldn't shock me in a few more years when Detroit really gets good, that both Trouba and Ekblad could be wearing the Winged Wheel.

he will most likely sign a 2 year deal at like 1.5 mil then 4.5 mil so his RFA minimum number will be 4.6 or so. 3 mil AAV cap hit but he will still make sure to be getting paid in a few years. Same concept as Boeser, McAvoy and Point

Keep Em
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>2.25 is an overpay for motte
more importantly however, WHY TF WOULD YOU TRADE LINDGREN YOU ABSOLUTE BUFFOON??? HES A 23 YEAR OLD TOP TIER DEFENSIVE DEFENSEMAN ON AN EXCELLENT CONTRACT WHO HAS AMAZING CHEMISTRY WITH FOX, WHO WE HAVE SIGNED FOR 7 YEARS, AND FOR WHAT?? TO RESIGN 3 RENTALS???</div></div>
This is an impossible argument to engage in with 15 games to go...but there will be a lot to discuss once playoffs are done- just a few points:
1. Easy to fall in love with Motte, Copp, and Vattrano since they all fit well into gaping holes in the lineup this team had and seem to mesh well with this team-but with Kakko and Blais coming back, perhaps one (or both) of Othmann or Cuylle pushing the lineup next year, potential signing of UMass star Trivigo, question of what to do with Rooney, and who knows what with Kravtsov- there will not be spots for everyone. And due to the team's CAP construction, they need a few players that can produce while on ELCs. Of the 3, Copp is the only no brainer to extend.
2. Moving Lindgren isn't as outlandish as it may seem. This is not my first choice to gain CAP space, but depending on the organization's assessment of LD prospects- particularly Robertson- moving Lindgren might start to make sense. And while Fox/Lind make a nice pair...a LD with a higher ceiling would make an even better pair with Fox. Of course, the other part of this question is what do they do with the CAP space? Extend rentals? no way...Keep CAP available to give Kakko, Miller, and/or LaF max term deals off ELC? probably a real good move.
3. To gain CAP space, the first two guys to go have to be Nemeth and Reaves. Beyond that it's like a "rubix cube" of possibilities which the resulting decision will be based on circumstances yet to be determined...Goodrow?, Chytl?, Lindgren? one of Kreider/Trouba/Panarin? None of these are desireable, yet none are outlandish.

I think if Zadina was in the trade rather than Fabbri the Canucks would at least consider it for a moment - providing they think Zadina can take steps forward in their organization.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Can't blame Subban for Blais injury at all. They were both looking in different directions, had some incidental contact, and Blais lost an edge. Subban had zero to do with that injury.</div></div>
It's tough. He has 3 slew foots since the preseason, including the fines to fortify that. I know all of our fan biases are going to clash here, but Steve Valiquette had a good point. If you watch NHL defensemen go into the corners, their feet are under them in an athletic stance, bracing for contact and going for the puck. Subban has his feet so wide, trying to make room for himself, but in a dangerous way. I don't think Subban is an intentionally dirty player, I like Subban. But maybe with him aging and losing a step, he feels he has to go into the corners like this, and the slew foots this year speak for themselves. He's got to adjust, because it's only a matter of time before he gets a suspension.
If this is any other defenseman, I would agree with you. But c'mon. All the slew foots already in one month of games, this is clearly a problem

Spending a Little Money for Unparalleled Success
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>an actual package for gibson would start with a 2022 1st, and also end with a 2022 1st since ottawa looks like a wright contender, and therefore arent trading their 1st this year.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>QualityTrades1</b></div><div>Yeah except Ottawa won't trade it, and Anaheim doesn't want 1 first that only might turn into Shane Wright.</div></div>
In fairness to the OP, note that this is an off-season construction, so that the assumption should be that we would know whether the first-round pick is in the top 2 or 3.
Let's assume that the pick is #4 or later. Gibson is signed for five more years, and it seems clear that the Ducks will be contending soon, so that term perfectly matches Anaheim's opening window. Unless the offer for Gibson is really fantastic (like the 2022 first, Drake Batherson and Eric Brannstrom), it doesn't make sense for Anaheim to put their goaltending in question.

Spending a Little Money for Unparalleled Success
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>Idk what else you could really expect. This is ~2.5 1sts. Eichel only got 3.5 1sts and I know you're not gonna argue Gibson is close in value to Eichel. Could swap Abramov for Jarventie I guess. Idk why everyone expects 4 or 5 superb assets for guys, that isn't gonna happen. It didn't happen for EK65 near the peak of his powers and it didn't happen for Eichel, it isn't gonna happen for a good goalie, but with injury troubles and that's underperformed for a couple years.</div></div>
Here, I'll break down your trade so you can see why all the comments are against you right now:
A struggling D+2 goalie (Mandolese, Kevin)
A depth centre that Anaheim does not need / can find on the UFA market (White, Colin)
A good defense prospect that hasn't lived up to his potential, and as you said, Anaheim is not lacking LD options for the bottom-4 and this one doesn't look top-2 like he used to (Brännström, Erik)
My personal favourite is this guy. A guy who chose to play in the KHL over Ottawa and now you think he's valuable in this trade (Abramov, Vitaly)
and a 2022 2nd round pick (OTT)
The only thing that could be anything of value in this trade is Brannstrom, and that's a pretty big gamble based on his performance since the draft.
So no, this is not "2.5 1st round picks", and Anaheim will get offered a WAY better package should they decide to move on from Gibson

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>claesson4norris csick sensonfire thoughts?</div></div>
1. Norris should be paid about the same as Batherson.
2. Spending assets to dump players when your team is not up against the cap doesn't make any sense.
At all.
I've been saying for weeks that someone like Zaitsev can either be bought out or buried in the minors.
I'm amazed by how many people on this site don't see it that way.
If you're saying we could buy out Matt Murray in this post, why can't we buy out Zaitsev or MDZ as well?
3. Gibson is not for sale.
4. Gambrell does not accept that because it's 100K short of his qualifying offer.
5. Klingberg is signing his extension with Dallas.
6. Nick Paul will want to be paid more like Barclay Goodrow or Connor Brown.
7. Like anybody else, Jake Sanderson would want to play with somebody he's familiar with upon playing for an NHL team for the first time.
Look no further than JBD.
I hope this helps :)
