The top 3 goalie is only under contract for 1 year and Hellebuyck is not staying in Winnipeg. Winnipeg is going to get as much as they can before he becomes a UFA. Winnipeg does not have the leverage you seem to think they have. It comes down to what competing teams such as Buffalo and New Jersey decide to give up for him. If the competing teams agree to keep the bidding low, Winnipeg can only take what they can get or they can hang on to Hellebuyck for the last season and get nothing in return when he walks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I want you to consider carefully the ramifications of tendering that offer sheet. The following season, Colorado has no significant RFAs to re-sign and at least $25 million in cap space. Meanwhile, Buffalo's RFAs in 2024 are Rasmus Dahlin, Peyton Krebs, Casey Mittelstadt, and UPL.</div></div>
Waddell has definitely set the precedent that sending an offer sheet will end up hurting in the future. Whether or not certain GM’s have the sack to actually do it, that’s another matter.
Now as for this one, I’m pretty sure the Sabres would only really care about locking up Dahlin, which shouldn’t be terribly hard, especially since KA is more than likely to start negotiating this off season, if not already. I would be surprised if Dahlin even has the chance to be sent an offer sheet. Don’t think the Sabres care as much if they end up losing Mitts, Krebs, or even UPL. UPL would hurt a bit more until Levi is ready, but Krebs I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t in Buffalo much longer with the other C prospects the Sabres. Mitts I don’t believe moves the needle much for Buffalo, but I could be wrong there.

I know who he is, so I give you a 1st for a guy signed for 1 more year and who has never scored more than 13 goals in his career. I can think of better ways to use my 1st

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>homiedaclown</b></div><div>Here’s the thing with Kulich….
Is he doing well in Rochester?
Yes, obviously
But he’s not doing as well as Peterka or Quinn did last year,
not even all that close really
And there’s a bunch of Sabres fans talking about how Peterka should maybe be sent down
And Quinn has been pretty streaky up here as well
Now if those 2- who again, were better than Kulich in Rochester- are struggling to varying degrees here….
Why EXACTLY would we feel the need to rush Kulich into the lineup?
This is the kind of bullsh!t that fans do,
& NOT what a real life GM does
And just bc Savoie has (supposedly) done all he can in juniors,
that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s ready for the NHL
Maybe he is
Maybe he isn’t
Whether or not he’d too good for Juniors will only play a small role in determining that though</div></div>
Wow, I can see "homie don't play dat," but no need to get testy.
I agreed with you that there's no need to rush...right off of the bat. But prior to that you stated, "They shouldn’t necessarily be expecting Savoie &/or Kulich to make the team either
They might, but they might not."
That is an open-ended question that circumvents a definitive opinion (which you did again, "maybe he is, maybe he isn't"). I gave possible reasons they <strong>might</strong> and you laid the hammer down on those opinions. Which is fine, because you make valid points. However, perhaps you can answer your own question as to why they <strong>might </strong>make the team?

If one more year in the AHL will improve a players defense, then that is a great move.
Kulich is really close, we need to remember he is ONLY 18 yo playing against men in the AHL.
While he did not score yesterday he had 7 SOG and including yesterday over his past 18 games he has 10 goals and 18 pts.
He currently is the Amerks leading goal scorer, very impressive for an 18 yo (did I mention he is only 18?).
One more year of development for all three of the 2022 draftees would be good.
EDIT:
Jake McCabe stepped right into a Sabre uniform and he was 15 months younger than Johnson is now.
So it could happen, hard to predict as he is 16 months older than Power.

Putting Kulich on line2 definitely seems silly to me
There’s no need at all to rush these guys</div></div>
Agreed. However, two reasons why they might--Kulich is killing it as an 18 yr.old in Rochester (on pace for 23+25 in 64 games) and Savoie is in no-man's land next year because of the NHL/CHL agreement. Personally, I'm leaning towards Savoie making the club because there won't be much left for him to prove in Junior.
Very interesting situation

It's probably time to move on from okposo and girgensons. We are an absolute Chinese firedrill in our own end, the high danger chances we give up are far too frequent and frankly systemic. I wonder if the goalies are gonna get a pass because the team in front of them has been so loose in the defensive zone.

TIMO TIME
I think Meier gets 8x9.25. He won't likely take a 6 year deal when he can get 10 on a QO. Cap goes up for the 24 season, and Meier still gets his 9 million plus for 7 years when he hits UFA.
It's the QO that really drives down the price on Meier. Ii doubt he goes for more than a 1st, a good prospect, and a middle 6 roster player. Most teams who would want to trade for Meier will have him as a rental, as most teams can't afford the QO or the offer it will take for Meier forego his QO. Buffalo is one of those teams that can fit the future contract , but it's gonna have to be 8 years.

A 1st and Rosen are valuable pieces, as well as a good goalie prospect in Portillo. The Sabres, or Sabres fans, literally cannot give you a more valuable piece in the 2023 draft than their 1st.
