Dubas has recently stated the he will have both Mikheyev and Dermott on the team and run a short bench if he has to. Who would you send down to have a true lineup under the cap?

Yup, that $1.45 mil to our 3rd line RW-er sure is an albatross contract. I'm surprised you're not taking 6OA for taking on Manson's behemoth contract. Get outta here with that.</div></div>
You're 3rd line winger stayed burried in the minors even with a bunch of injuries to regulars and crappy depth in the lineup.

Maybe, maybe not. There were LOTS of injuries last year and he stayed in the minors until season's end...even with some less than stellar players in the roster.

Dont Sell Low
I like the tweeking idea. Trying to boost the value of bubble players in order to trade them at the trade dealine is usually how you get a higher value return. It's pretty basic.
The problem with your lineup is that NONE of those signings will be that low. Holl signed a 2x2 and you think Dermott will take under a million bucks? Pierre Engvall got 1.25 for 2 years and you think Mikheyeve will only take an extra 450k? Wayne Simmons has hit some bumps in the road for sure, but to cut his salary from 5 mil to under 1 millon? This guy still has a resumé, not a chance in hell. Radko Gudas might take that money if you're lucky but he is NOT the top pairing fill-in you're hoping for if Dermott faulters. Oh....and if paired with Rielly, Dermott WILL faulter because theyre both smaller offensive minded D-men. Do you think Dermott is much better defensively than Tyson Barrie or Cody Ceci? Didn't think so...

Blues blockbusterold guard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blues4TheCup</b></div><div>lol. It should be obvious that Parayko and Perron are two players the blues would not move based on how good their contracts are. Dermott has not proved to be a stable top 4 defenseman, Johnsson is coming off knee injury. Nylander is a nice piece but that is it. Things aren't looking good for Pietrangelo staying in STL, thus Parayko is the last player the y should be looking to move. I would say in terms of value, you would need to add 2 OF Robertson, Liljegren or Pick 15 in place of Johnsson and Dermott for the blues to even consider. My counter would be something like Parayko and Perron for Nylander Liljegren and pick15. Still not sure the blues do that though</div></div>
That's fair but I'm curious about something. Since you state that Dermott is unproven, why would Liljegren be a better option? I actually thought Dermott was the better player for you guys since you're much more shallow on the left side than you are on the right and he has proven much more the Liljegren has. THe left side depth is bad enough that Parayko (a righty) but has often played LD this year as a result of lack of other options.

All true Statements...but in the Blues forward make-up it seems as though Perron and his cap hit might be a drag as early as next season. Besides, thats what getting younger usually meens...less experience. What if the Leafs added a pick or 2 to sweeten the deal?

That's the most softest top 6 ever. It's worse than before. I know they want to keep the big 4 but they're gonna fill the rest with workhorses. Hyman isnt who you trade, its who you keep and try to clone....and find bigger Hymans somewhere for the bottom 6 lol.

turning a new Leafs
People forget how many young Jackets players are on expiring ELCs this year. Dubois (1C) Wenlund (4C) and Gavrikov (2nd pair D) all currently make under 900K and need new contracts (bigger ones, especially Dubois) to play next year. I threw Wennberg and in there as a CONTRACT DUMP (favor) because you actually have to get rid of him. 5mil for a guy on the 3rd line is a tad much.
Can't stop at the names on the list guys. Dig deeper, look at the numbers. I'll throw in a 4th rounder if that makes you happy.

Mikheyev can probly even take less on a 1 year deal if you want, due to the injury this year. I also know the D is a little lack-luster this way, which is why I think the Leafs will resign Dermott to be able to package him+ Johnsson or Kapanen for some real RHD help giving Rielly a good D partner (worth over 5 mil if Mikheyev takes less on a 1 year) and push Holl to the second pair with Muzzin.
The point is they have options. They're not SCREWED as so many people seem to think.
Robertson can't play in the AHL but could play pro elsewhere. Might be best to hone his craft against men rather then change him drastically into a bottom line winger.

I think sign Mikheyev for 1.5M for show me deal to make some cap space to have Robertson in the lineup</div></div>
Robertson can't go to the AHL due to not aging out of the OHL but he could play pro elsewhere like Matthews did his draft year. That might actually be the best option as he's obviously too good for the OHL but should probly learn to play his style against men before having a snif in the NHL if we don't want him to drastically change the type of player he is.

Who says no? More like who says yes?
Detroit is a terrible team trying to rebuild and you want them to get rid of an actual current NHL player (a rarity on that roster) and a star junior player (important for rebuild).
Toronto is a cap team and they don't want to absorb a 5million dollar rental.
The only person in the world saying yes to this is Mike Green.

Kapanen will still be a RFA when this contract is up in 2022-23
Petry is a UFA after one more year.
If you didn't understand what I meant, I have no sympathy for laziness.</div></div>
RFA, UFA, he's a 3.2 milion dollar 3rd liner on a team who can turn Elvis Sojko into a legit 3rd liner. I'm not saying I don't like the guy, I'm saying others can wear his skates successfully at a fraction of the cost.
PS: You're calling me lazy on a website where people are quite litterally "armchair GMs" PRETENDING to run NHL teams from the comfort of their own couch. Are you still in grade school? Go find yourself a more productive hobby. Go shovel your yard or something. Maybe do your neighbor's at the same time and make a couple bucks.

Ana- adds for future Tor- adds for playoffs
To the Ducks:
A 3rd line speedy winger, an AHL goalie on a NHL contract and a salary dump.
To the Leafs:
A strong and capable second pairing RHD, a less capable but experienced vet RHD on a league min deal, a veteran backup goalie with tons of experience and similar stats than his starter and a young hard-nosed 3rd line winger who Don Cherry said should have been chosen by the Leafs instead of William Nylander.
For the prospective of a Leafs fan, this is unreal. As for the Ducks...how does this help them in the future exactly? Am I drunk or is this the most one sided trade proposal I'v ever seen?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leaf_fan_74</b></div><div>Dumping Cece's contract when all said in done would equate to $800,000 in cap relief. Noting we could bury 1 million for his remaining 1.8mil in the minors; therefore, bailing on it now is terrible economics. Unless some value is recaptured in trading Cece, his contract is just a pill we Leaf fans need to swallow. We are surely not going to sell the fresh talent for a rental. Not one realistic hockey person would agree to swap Kapanen and Petry are close to equal in value. Hey, Petry is not a bad player, and I'm not suggesting that at all; however, his contract status is a point of contention when compared to the sweetheart contract of Kapanen. BTW, I think CeCe is not terrible as a 3rd pairing defender, and I can live with him for the rest of the season. FYI, I am not confident this is our year to go all in, meaning I am on the trade UFA's for futures team myself.</div></div>
Petry's contract status is a point of contention? Really? On any team, Kapanen is a 45pt middle 6 winger who makes 3.2M$ while Petry is a 45pt top 4 D who makes 5.5M$. I think it's pretty fair to say Petry should rightfully make more than Kapanen. As far as value of contract, I'd say it's a toss up. But the point of the trade is to address a need in order to make your team generally better. I'm not even saying that I love this deal, simply that it's not far off and definitely not worth castrating anyone over.

1 big deal for cup run
I think Josh Manson is good, but his "trade value" as of late I feel has been really inflated by the market and by Steve Dangle lol. The Leafs need a #1RHD, someone to pair with a healthy Morgan Rielly and matchup against lines like Bergeron, Ovechkin, McDavid, Crosby, McKinnon....Do you really think Manson can be that guy? To be so much better than Holl or Dermott (who has played the right side before) that it's worth giving up those assets for? I agree with having to bump Ceci out of the lineup, but they can already do that come playff time if they want to.
Rielly-Manson
Muzzin-Barrie
Sandin-Holl
*Dermott-Lijegren
...Ceci....
It seems to be as though once Reilly comes back, they generally don't have horrible defense anymore. If anything is needed it's a true 2-way #1RHD to not be forced to plug Barrie there with Reilly...but if they did I don't think it wouldn't be that big of a deal. If you're gonna give up assets, it better be for a real upgrade and I don't think Manson is a huge upgrade over Barrie.
