If we try to swing a trade for a top 2/4 RHD teams are asking for one of Matthews, Marner, or Nylander or a 1st rounder + young roster player and/or a grade A prospect(s). I am of the opinion that the Leafs use the draft to bring in the top 2/4 RHD they covet. Timothy Liljegren is someone to keep an eye on. If the Leafs finish with a lottery pick, we could be in a good position to get him.</i></div></div>

Instead of concentrating on UFA Alzner, aren't there other UFAs who play the right side? Yes. With the expansion protection lists limiting many teams to 3 protected Dmen, there should be players available for trades. Let's not be silly to think Nylander, Marner, Matthews are in play. Lottery pick? Any team that misses the playoffs is in the the "lottery". Even else being equal, the Leafs might be a # 10 pick next summer, which doesn't get you NHL help for a couple more years.</i></div></div>

Should have been more clear regarding lottery pick. Meant to say top 5 pick. Apart from Alzner, Brent Burns, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Michael Stone are really the only UFA RHD who would noticeably improve the Leafs' blueline going foward. Burns and Shattenkirk will both command $6.5 million+ on the open market (Burns gets atleast $7 million in my opinion). Stone could be a good relative value option but there will be alot of suitors for him if he hits the open market.
