Just wait til they get ahold of Nick Ritchie. Tens of fans will show up to see him and Kessel eat hot dogs on the ice.
Bummed CBJ didn’t make this trade. Good deal.

This is good move for Leafs.
Pretty happy with depth D add and Dzingel is fine depth add too.
The part of the trade that makes it clear win, no Ritchie cap hit for next year.
Not worried about coughing up a 2025 2nd even a little.

Leafs never should've signed him in the first place. He was a terrible fit. Dubas takes a big fat L on this one.

Yeah after the recent Arizona news dont think Matthews is gonna sign their any time soon
As going to a 5000 seat University Arena is not something on his bucket list lul
As that would be a massive downgrade for him and his image.
On top of that dont think they will even have the money to get close to his 100mill signing bonuses as they couldnt even pay the bills for their arena and were late paying most of their own guys and staff

Why wait draft fast as by 2025 that 3rd round pick probs will be with the Roadrunners developing or heck if its a steal be playing and contributing for them.
Like I dont think Coyotes want to tank till 2025 lul.

This is one of those times. This was always going to be the rough trade value.
Reasonable for both sides. I like the get. Leaves the Leafs with an expected 700k of deadline cap space and we can get more by waiving Dzingle or trading Dermott or Holl. Win-win trade.
Wonder when the coyotes need to chose which pick they will take? Draft day 2023?</div></div>
Honestly I think this is a win, as lybushkin would have been depth I'd have gone looking for at the deadline with a little room. I'd have paid a 4th for him. A 3rd next year is similar value to a fourth this year.
So dumping Ritchie and getting dzingel was nearly free. Good deal

IMO it's 3 throwaway players. None of these players are impact NHL players.
Toronto is giving up a 2nd/3rd round pick in exchange for 1.3 Million next year (Since Ritchie can simply be buried). IMO not worth it, but that's what happens when you're on the cap limit.</div></div>
Lyubushkin is exactly what the Leafs need on the backend, and Dzingel is a pretty decent depth option.

The fact he has more points than his entire team while only playing 22 games is interesting
Cant wait to see how he does in the Marlies top 6. Hopefully Amirov can get healthy so he can join to.

(OTT/STL) - Brown and cond. 2022 4th for Sanford
Good and fair trade for both teams. Sanford was an expiring contract and a bit redundant with STL's forward group, especially with Tarasenko not being traded. Getting a buy-low prospect for him is a nice piece of business to both get some cap room for an actual bench and to swing on a young player. On Ottawa's end, it wouldn't surprise me if Sanford produces well with more ice time and becomes a relatively valuable deadline piece for more picks.

Not that bad. He's pushed Quick out of the starter role and deserved to get at least close to his salary. They Didn't overcommit on term and it doesn't kick in until next year (Quick's last), so they are getting what could be his best 4 years and leaving their options open for when he's over 30.
He's shown enough to suggest he's a starter and $5M is a good price for such.

Seattle Kraken signed Ryan Donato (1 Year / $750,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rebecca</b></div><div>Every year people worry about this with [insert team with too many players] at [insert position] and it almost never happens. Two or three players at most, usually goalies, get snapped up during the pre-season roster crunch to get down to 23. Best waiver add in past few years has been Rudolph Balcers, which kudos to the Sharks, isn’t saying much.
The thing is, teams would then usually have to waive a player of their own (or take away a spot from a waiver exempt player who needs ice time in the NHL). What 14th best forward or 8th best defenceman on any team would YOU pick up on the waiver wire knowing you have to drop another player off your roster?</div></div>
Seattle is slightly different because they already had a too large roster right after the Expansion Draft, with only Joey Daccord being waivers eligible. As an expansion roster they have pieces that were enticing enough to be selected. As an example, if Kole Lind is put on waivers, I bet Vancouver would be one of the teams interested in bringing him back.

Also, this isn't even the most egregious example of that. At least the Guds deal is only a year. Tucker Poolman got a 4x$2.5M AAV from Jim Benning...
