<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Interesting, I've never heard Saad described as being in it for the big contract. Kurashev to me, at this point, is nothing more then a solid two way 3rd liner. He would have to be quite a bit better to be more then a filler on the 1st or 2nd lines. However, with Strome centering the 3rd line, I think we can could create a very nice line with a combination of Kurashev, Nylander, Suter, Strome, Borgstrom, Hagel....take your pick of any 3 but a good scoring but defensively responsible line. Of course I think our 4th line is pretty solid. Just looking for one more speedy top 6 forward that can pot some goals.
Starting to think Toews might be done, but I do think it's Covid related and there are some pro athletes that just can't regain strength and lung capacity to return.</div></div>
Yeah it's not promising when a guy hasn't played for as long as he has with some mystery condition but it's a damn shame considering his playoffs last season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Overall I think our views are pretty similar. I am curious if Stan can try to convince Taylor Hall to come for a 1 year deal for $8M. It would be signed on Day 2 like STL did with Hoffman, but that could really help this team and they are in desperate need for a top line winger. I like that you don't have Lukas Reichel signed. I'd rather have him develop further than fight for ice time with Nylander/Connolly.</div></div>
I don't want Taylor Hall, and I think Boston locks him up for 6x6.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>polyidos</b></div><div>Yes, Fleury is having a great season. The issue the Golden Knights are going to have is the salary cap and a need for roster flexibility. They've been playing with a shortened roster for a lot of this season. They're not going to be able to do that in a full regular season with a Winter Olympics break for 2 weeks of hard played hockey smashed in the middle. They'll need roster flexibility next year with cheaper players and it'll come at a premium because the only significant contracts they have coming off the books are Alex Martinez at $4m and Tomas Nosek at $1.25m and they'll want to resign Martinez probably. Cody Glass probably takes one of the forward spots along with a couple other ELC forwards.</div></div>
I 100% get your points, but all the players they could realistically trade for cap space have value, even if it could be decreased due to the cap situation. They <strong>could</strong> sell Fleury for less than what he's worth, but they still won't give up anything to get rid of him.

Alex Nylander is easily protected with the current team though. Even with Toews protected, which is kind of up in the air and depends on if he plays again.

If you want to trade Nylander as an asset to get them to take on Seabrook, then that's a different story, but he shouldn't be outright exposed.

It all depends on if you think you're a cup contender. Can you use that cap for the final piece? $5.5M in dead cap is rough. TOR spent a 1st on 1 year $6M. 2 years $5.5M. Entirely possible Wahlstrom is untouchable. He's a heck of a player. But the 1st and a lesser prospect (still good prospect just not untouchable) is likely the right price.

I was gonna say the hawks do this in a heartbeat but the is;anders wouldn’t want to pay that price. IMO the first is the overkill in this trade.

Taking advantage of cap strapped teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MacerV</b></div><div>The whole idea of "taking advantage" of a teams cap situation is flawed. A team isn't going to give up one of their better assets, they are going to pursue option which is the least damaging. I would be shocked if they have to attach an asset like Kappy to Marleau</div></div>
Except for WAS...Orpik required Grubauer OR CHI...Bickell required Turbo OR FLA...Bolland required the #14 over all pick in the draft. There's history that it COULD take Kap...which frankly would be the easiest pill to swallow compared to these other (3) trades.

Seabrook as 7th d-man is a joke... remember why everyone is hating on seabs, not that’s he’s bad, it’s the long 6.8 contract he’s got that no one wants becuase IN THE FUTURE he won’t be worth it... I’d say with all he’s doing for our young player, doing good shorthanded and defensively in general. He’s worth AT LEAST 5M of that 6.8 he’s getting. It’s just a long contract that’s why we can’t keep it... also that backup goalie u got there is garbage, just saying.</div></div>
I’m no Hawks fan and Seabrook is far from the worst D in the league. Even with his contract he has quite a bit of value, the Hawks just need to eat some salary.

Kempny is worth at least a 3rd.
Hartman is worth a 1st.
Anisimov is worth a 1st + 2nd (or good prospect) and a conditional 2nd round pick depending on where the team acquiring him finishes in the playoffs.
Bowman really has no reason at all to trade Anisimov or Hartman, so Bowman would be better off getting what he demands not what is offered.
I could envision Bowman taking whatever he can get for Bouma, Wingels, and Sharp tho...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ckleiner21</b></div><div>Wingels wants to be in CHI so they can get a pick and then resign him in the summer. By offloading Seabs you open a spot for a free agent signing in the summer (Carlson or de Haan). The backend becomes more mobile. Plus even though Ryan has a higher cap hit, he's signed for 1 less year. First for Arty sounds like a given at this point (hopefully someone overpays).</div></div>
Why would Seabrook do this? He has a FULL NMC and just build a new house in Chicago. To players these are very personal decisions. His kids/wife move, etc... Is the value there, sure, but I'm sorry to say I just don't see that trade as realistic. It's not like he can turn to his family and say it's a reason regarding winning.

Curious where you saw that? All I've seen is that "Bill Daly says the NHL's salary cap is projected to be $75.5M-$76M next season, but adds it will depend on inflator negotiations with NHLPA." Also, "Cap could go as high as $75.5M next season. NHLPA could request that it stays at $73M to lower the escrow."
Do you have other information? I'm still predicting an increase just not to $76m. I expect that in negotiations it'll come down to $75m.</div></div>
I read an article about 2 months ago. Let me see if i can find it.</div></div>

Hawks.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>polyidos</b></div><div>Panik is a RFA so he'll have to decide if he wants to stay with the Blackhawks for less or play elsewhere. I do agree that the Blackhawks offer will probably be around $1.5m with bonuses for probably 2 years. If he doesn't accept that, they'll trade his rights and they tell him that they're going to do that just like they did with Saad - basically, "take less on a bridge deal because of our cap crunch or we trade you because we have Jurco."
The player missing here is Patrick Sharp. Sharp will be back on a 1 year deal for $1.5m with bonuses like Campbell. I think Oduya will be back on a similar deal as well.</div></div>
Panik cannot be offered a deal with bonuses. Only ELC and 35+ contracts can have bonuses attached. There are also no promises that Jurco will turn out like Panik. IMO after the 4 games he has played he won't be anything more than a bottom 6 guy at best.
They will have a hard time having Sharp, Campbell, Oduya all on the same deal and still be under the cap.
