Offseason v13
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PantsinmyPants1211</b></div><div>I actually don't mind this trade at all. Vilardi has looked pretty good now that he is healthy, and though he doesn't have Necas' speed, he does have high end skill, and he's only 22.
Spence would give us another low cost RHD for a few years, and could turn into a player, and that 1st is 19th OA.
That is a solid trade offer IMO. As a Canes fan, I would do that.</div></div>
Vilardi makes zero sense for the Canes to acquire. He plays a position of massive strength and the Canes don’t have any room for him in Chicago either. Canes would want Durzi more than Spense, and 19OA is just magic beans. If the Canes trade Necas, it’s in a package for a top 6 pure goal scorer, and that isn’t present in that package. Canes should pass on this offer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Maybe he's traded but it is entirely possible that he's just not QO'd still. I would not put his value very high at all right now, definitely not returning Kerfoot.
There are pieces with value in that trade but it is at the end of the day a lot of quantity and not at all realistic.</div></div>
It's a very slim possibility that he doesn't get QO'ed and there's that slim possibility with a lot of RFA's this class. Bear isn't special because of it.
We've seen traded with a lot of quantity as long as the pieces are of value. If you ignore Gardiner, who could easily be sent elsewhere, every piece there is of value. If you remove Lafontaine and Puistola, everything there is of strong value and that is an extremely reasonable package. Just because there's a lot of pieces doesn't mean they are all worthless, which is what your original point suggested.
Morrow is the Canes best prospect.
Suzuki is number 3 or 4
Necas is a 23 year old NHL player that put up 40 points in a down year and wants to play C.
2 1sts (unprotected by the way, when the Canes have goalies made of carbon fibre) are nothing to turn the nose up at.
Just proving that your original take (quantity > quality) was lazy. I'm not saying it's realistic, before you try and suggest that I said that. You have had a history of trying to spin my words.

Quality > Quantity on the Hawks trade</div></div>
Bear's rights are going to be traded. Civian reported the Canes are 95% likely to qualify him.
As for the Cat trade, there is a lot of both in there... that's a lazy take on it.

Can't see Carolina sacrificing that much draft capital for Kulikov. They'll need strong players on ELCs for their cup run.

Probably a typical canes offseason
Staal wont be the 4C. Marchment isnt a money puck type move. One good season and overpay him pretty heavily. overpay on Lorentz too.
Canes will likely get one of Palat or Nino, depending who is cheaper on the FA market. It will be at least 500k cheaper than that though.
Very likely Canes off-season.

If this were to happen this off-season, I wouldn’t mind it terribly. Sad to see to Tro, Nino, and Necas go, but I think this roster would have a bit better of a chance at the cup. I still have my doubts on Cole returning, and it might just be that Smith gets resigned but a LD from the Wolves gets some playing time.
I would imagine Calgary would want more for Mangiapane, but assuming they prioritize Johnny and Tkachuk, I could see Mangiapane being left out. Particularly if he makes it to where he can be offer sheeted. Don’t know if Formenton is available, but if he is, I hope the Canes pursue him. If Nino is willing to sign a 4x4, do it and don’t bother with Marchment, but if not, Marchment would be a decent replacement.

This isn’t this hard. He is going to a 3rd team. 3rd team is eating 50% of Kerfoot too. Gardiner isn’t going to Toronto at all. CF doesn’t do three team trades.

Gardiner, Pono and a 3rd to a 3rd team who will also eat 50%

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>Ya, they just extended KK, but they’re likely already regretting it.</div></div>
Exactly why would they be regretting it? Where have you seen or heard anything remotely close to that from sources close to the team? Please share if so I'd be really interested to see it.
He's likely going to get a shot at 2C soon depending on how the offseason goes and worst case he'll easily slot into 3C after Staal contract is up next year. If he succeeds at 2C the deal is a steal, if he can't cut it at 2C full-time it's an average deal. If you're going to base his overall production in a year where the team had a ton of C depth which didn't allow him to play consistently high in the lineup than that's very poor long term judgement. His underlying numbers and play in limited minutes w/ lesser linemates was good this year and improved over the course of the season as he got accustomed to the situation.
As always, you can have your opinion but when it's not really backed up by anything and you just throw out vague generalities and statements it doesn't really hold much water.

Preds reunion
Interesting, but money could be saved by not having Myers and Czarnik. I like Myers a lot, but I think he would just end up taking the route that Bear was given in Carolina. Never really though of Granlund as a potential target, but he doesn’t have the Finnish connection with Aho, so he could be of interest. What would be the odds of dropping Myers and getting some retention instead on Granlund? How would that alter the package.
That being said, it looks like the Canes will run it back this off-season and go with much the same approach as this year. If the Canes could add Forsberg and keep all their pending FA players, they win the cup.

Canes can sign him from any amount for any year. 6.1m is only if the QO him which they won't. (newsflash no one will offer him 6.1 next year unless he breaks out) he will sign with canes at a lower aav most likely

eichel is a no brianer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>Still a no brainer is they say they need necas in the deal?
Necas+Gardiner+1st
or
Jarvis+Suzuki+Gardiner+1st+2nd</div></div>
Necas right now probably holds more value than Eichel does. Let's not forget Eichel is coming off a year where he scored 2 goals... and Necas is coming off a 40+ point year in 53 games... That's roughly a 70 point pace. Eichel is also making 10 mil, Necas is on his ELC. Eichel wants a neck surgery no one in the NHL has had before, Necas' time missed was due to concussion protocol from a Zadorov hit he showed no symptoms from... there's no case for Eichel to require Necas.
As for Jarvis/Suzuki... if Jarvis is in there, Suzuki isn't. Jarvis was PPG in 2 leagues this year. One of which, he wasn't eligible to play in! It's gonna be Gunler+Suzuki+Ponomarev+1st+Gardiner+Rees or something if it's without Jarvis, or Jarvis+Gardiner+1st+2nd if it's Jarvis. That's about as far as I would go to say his (Eichel's) value is worth.

How to build the perfect team
Canucks
Top line: Pettersson elite center, Brock Boeser goal scorer, JT Miller could also act as playmaker.
Second line: 1B Bo Horvat, Hoglander young ELC winger, Garland all around player
Third line: Dickinson defensive PK player, Podkolzin scrappy power forward
Fourth line: Motte grit winger
Second pairing: Hughes puck moving defenceman
Third pairing: Rathbone young offensive D man
Starting goalie: Demko elite goalie
I say the Canucks aren’t looking too bad, just gotta shape up the d core and we should be legitimately good.
