Penguins fans let me know
People forget Giroux said he wanted to go to Florida and turned down other trades which limited his trade value. Plus trade values have increased greatly especially come deadline time. If there is a bidding war who knows how much someone could pay for a player. Plus Guentzel is a proven top player in the season and playoffs which should boost his value a bit.

I really think Ned is going to be included with any Guentzel deals to Edmonton. Which would be a solid goalie and one of the best wingers. I do like the value in this trade

Penguins aren't looking for RHD they already have Letang and Karlsson. If my some Miracle chance they traded Karlsson then maybe they would take back a RHD, but I doubt they would want Ceci. Plus you are over the cap...

Time to sell
Pettersson is the only one outside of the big 3 that is untouchable so that isn't a trade that would be made. The Guentzel trade is a no because he will get more if he is traded. No one is trading anything for Harkins

I like this Guentzel trade I could see Nedeljkovic going to Edm in a deal as well. I also keep going back and forth on which player would go back to Pens. I know Bourgault and Broberg are definite to get talks open and the 1st.

Potential Jake trade destinations - redo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xxToothxx</b></div><div>So long as 87 is the Centremen.... lots of players would put up his #s and better if they got ride shotgun to Crosby.
C'mon... you can't be this dense.</div></div>
Jake Guentzel has 16 goals, 24 assists (40 Points) and a plus-minus of +9 in 38 games without Crosby.... of those games without Crosby he was centered by Evan Rodrigues.....
Plus as brought up by someone above he would probably play on the 1st line with another solid Center. It's not like people are paying a ransom for a player to put him on the 4th line with scrub players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xxToothxx</b></div><div>For Guentzel???
Is Crosby coming too??
Guentzel is not a line 1 winger away from Crosby.
180 lbs maybe, not fast/not slow, no physical game, net front he's a mouse. Nothing special for a shot, average stick skills.
I'm confused.... why would ANY TEAM trade this much for so little??</div></div>
You realize he drives the offense and has shown it even without Crosby as his center? He drives to the net. He is great at puck deflections in and around the net. He also has a great shot. He is an All-star player.

Guentzel szn
Pittsburgh probably would not do this deal. I would, they actually have enough right wings. The Pens would need a LW to replace Guenzel. I doubt Pens will trade their 1st from next year. Unless they acquired a 1st from another team at this years deadline and they would probably trade off that teams 1st instead of their own.

As a Penguins fan this is what I hope
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gpmack95</b></div><div>They use the cap space to get a bigger name FA</div></div>
You do realize the cap is projected to go up 4 million this offseason right? Also so you trade away a player who is working, for a potential overpaid top 6 player this offseason? If you are looking at a legit top 6 talent they probably will cost you more than what Rust is making this offseason. Especially with the cap going up.

I agree with this. Can we please stop with the 4th round picks and the retention. Pittsburgh isn't doing either for a top 6 winger that isn't a rental. Thanks!

Buffalo trade idea
Yeah...no. The Karlsson trade is awful. I agree with the comment above. 1st Karlsson would have to accept the trade somewhere and he is only going to a playoff team. #2 He is an offensive Right Handed Defenseman which does have good value around the league.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Noah_PTB</b></div><div>But is a ~20 overall pick really going to change the way our future looks? No.
If you have Sidney Crosby -- you go for it. This year might be the last they can really do it too. Even if the chances are extremely slim.</div></div>
Penguins are having the same collapse they did one year prior. Last year we had the 14th overall pick at years end. This year will probably be the same. Next year will probably be a top 10 pick. So again, why trade a 2025 1st round pick? They aren't trending in the right direction and everyone outside of Pittsburgh can see it.

Pens aren't shopping their 1st round pick. They aren't making the playoffs this season and unless big changes happen next year will be a top 10 pick

I find it fun that Ek is still putting up good numbers and has some value, yet everyone is selling him like he isn't good. It's the Penguins team, age, and system which is failing the players.

I actually believe that would be more of a trade the Pens would make. Gives them 2 good prospects, picks, and a player. I like the Calgary and Minny trades. Well done!!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>If Crosby was traded, it would be in the offseason.
You can get more for Guentzel.
You'd better get more if you're taking on Campbell</div></div>
Agree 100% with this! I also believe if they were going to blow it up and shop the big three. It would be more so the big 2 (Malkin and Letang) which even this wouldn't happen. Crosby wouldn't be shopped but agreed. If they were going to make a trade for Malkin, Letang, or Crosby. It would be this offseason.
With that said, if you are blowing up the team and putting up the for sale sign, Karlsson, Smith, maybe Jarry (since goalie is a big need for a few contenders), Rust, Graves Lars Eller, and Acciari would definitely be names that are shopped and would have value around the league.

Some trades Id like to see
I think the forgotten is, IF Guentzel hits the market at the deadline the bidding war increases the price. There are multiple teams who will bid for him. Penguins would want to replace him with a player I think Hoglander or Kuzmenko fit that bill, a prospect, and a 1st. I think they wouldn't be opposed to a prospect and an additional prospect equivalent to a 1st. This would only be true if someone like Vancouver wanted to trade for Guentzel and keep their 1st.

Edmonton Oilers
I think the Locker room narrative is well overblown. His toxic marriage kinda made him a jerk. Now that he is divorced and has his child. He really hasn't been bad.
Also I believe this would probably be the started proposal talk for Jake from the Oilers? Yes. Do I think it gets beat? Probably. Do I think Ned (Goalie) also gets added to the discussion in this deal? 100% with probably more being added to the deal. I think a healthy Kane could potentially be like a Kunitz on that Sid line.

I would probably take the Smith, Bertuzzi trade. I would consider the Karlsson trade if the Pens were sellers, I would assume they would get more in a Karlsson deal though.

Yes no to all of these. Bunting would need to add. Why would you give up Rakell or Puustinen? Especially Rakell he does a lot more than his stats show.

Major retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>I'm not opposed to the Pens deal, but the issue is cap. Even with the retention the Pens have zero space, so unless there's a secondary deal to retain another 50% then the Pens could ship out a $1Mish player to make it happen.</div></div>
They could keep Smith on the LTIR until the playoffs to help with cap space.
