DRAFT IGINLA PLUS TRADE UP FOR SENNECKE
According to multiple draft pick value charts, the difference in value between the 8th overall pick and the 24th overall pick is equivalent to a late first rounder. I highly doubt Harris has that sort of trade value right now. Even if he did, the Kraken have a full blue line at the moment and will likely want to keep a starting spot open for Ryker Evans to continue his development, so I can't see them being all that interested in Harris. The Kraken are better served sticking at 8 and adding another top prospect to their pipeline than moving down 16 spots just to add a defenseman they don't really ned.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nilees24</b></div><div>I disagree. They have the Flames 1st in 2025 already plus when the trade Savard at the 2025 Trade Deadline they'll fetch a first. Happy to slightly overpay for Tij Iginla.</div></div>
CGY pick could be high, but could also be FLO’s pick. It is not because you’ll have draft capital that you can trade a potential 1st overall pick. If Suzuki and Matheson are injured most of the year. MTL could have a down year. Giving it for Iginla when you can possibly have Misa or Hagens is irresponsible.

Trading an unprotected 1st a year in advance when you are a rebuilding is pretty much the worst idea ever.

DRAFT EISERMAN PLUS TRADE UP FOR IGINLA
I wouldn't trade an unprotected 1st in a stronger draft class to reach on Eiserman, and I'm not on the Iginla hype train, I think he's good but not 5th/6th overall good

DRAFT IGINLA PLUS TRADE UP FOR DICKINSON
Hughes specifically said that they could trade their 1st pick if the BPA on their list is a LD. Why trading up for LD :P
If MTL get better each year, it is possible that they finish as the 8th worst team in 2025 and the 10th worst team in 2026. Basically, you could end up trading McKenna to draft a LD that you don't need.

When you want a Top 10 pick and the major return piece is a pick with Top 10 protection...

The only way Arizona accepts that is if you lose the top 10 protection.

Tij Iginla or Carter Yakemchuk. Better yet trade for another pick around 10th OA and get both. If Montreal takes Tij (I doubt they will) then it's pretty likely someone expected to go top 6 is still around at 8.

Ah, yes, the unwanted superfluous bottom-tier Harris & Ylonen combo as a key element in a major trade.
The top-10 protection on the 2025 first means that pick will have the value of a mid-round selection and that's IF it isn't shifted to 2026, further devaluing it from Arizona's point of view -- probably to the same year as the player picked with the no. 6 (Arizona isn't likely to fall all the way to no. 5) hits the NHL. So you're going to need an impact-now incentive like Kaiden Guhle to persuade Arizona to move back from no. 6 to no. 26 (or wherever). But then you'd get to keep the future first.

Get a concrete top 6 with two top 10 talent forwards that can lead the franchise for years to come?
Nah, throw another LHD on the pile so we can push one of Ghule/Hutson to play 3rd pairing for years to come.

If Columbus lands at 4OA and Lindstrom is still available, I don't think there's any way he's making it past 4.
SJ: Celebrini (Best Player Available)
CHI: Demidov (BPA)
ANA: Levshunov (Likely BPA and fills a huge need)
CBJ: Lindstrom (Best forward available, and fills a need)

Don't think the Yotes are the team to target with this trade and I don't think Iginla will be a top 7 pick.
Better to aim for a pick between 11-15 and grab who ever drops, whether that be a Yakemchuk or Eiserman

Yeah, I think it's fair based on where CGY, and MTL are.
That said, it really depends on how much does the CGY scouting staff likes the players available compared to 17 picks later. It also depends on if the 2025 draft looks stronger than 2024, and if the Flames scouts believe that MTL will pick in the top 10.
I think that next year's draft is better and that MTL will probably have a top 8 pick, so I would personally go for it.

There is not a world where I see the Flames not picking Iggy's kid. The only way I could ever see them not selecting him would be if they make it into the top 3 selections. I do not think any team would justify taking Iggy 2.0 before the eighth pick anyway. Too many higher tier prospects to select

If Iginla is on the board, then CGY is picking him unless they win the draft lottery.
