Expansion Trades
I must have missed something... Can you explain to me how a 36 year old bottom 6 player in Burrows, and a 6th round pick, gets you Silfverberg?

Speculation of Vegas Golden Knights + Other Teams
Didn't read through all of this, but some thoughts from a Devils fan:
You've left Damon Severson unprotected. Not happening. You've also left Travis Zajac exposed. Possible, but unlikely.
And there's no way NJ uses a second round pick to get Vegas to take Cammalleri. They have tons of cap space, and he only has two years left. They don't need to waste an asset in order to get Vegas to take him. They can just ride it out with him without any issues.

Lazytime3643's roster

Updated the trades. Any closer? What would you guys give?</div></div>
Closer, sure. Still not close. Lol. ANA doesn't need Prout, they're already gonna have to expose somebody good as it is. And Speers has potential, but probably not as a top 6 forward. They're gonna ask for the moon for Fowler, and whatever it is, I'm not giving it to them. Would think next year's first and a top prospect or current roster player is where they begin. No thanks.
On Eberle, the guy scores 20-25 a year, and they're only looking to trade him because he makes $6 million for another two years. That doesn't mean they're being forced to give him away. If you wanna give them a defenseman, it'll have to be better than Merrill. At least Moore or Lovejoy, and then multiple picks (think 2nd's and 3rd's, not 4th's+).

NYR 2017-2018 Opening Night Roster

As an overall player, sure, he brings more to the table. For almost $8 million per year, though, you have to score. You can pay 3 separate guys $8 million combined to kill penalties and "lead."
Bottom line is that neither team is in a position to take on salary, so I don't see the point.</div></div>
Neither of them are worth their contracts, but Nash's might be more appealing to NYR because it expires sooner. Thats the point i'm trying to make.</div></div>
We agree on that. But I think Edmonton can get better value for Eberle, whether it's draft picks, or a young defenseman with term at a reasonable cost. Something that they can reap the benefits of in the long term. I don't think one year of Rick Nash (producing less than Eberle) and the cap space that opens up afterwards is sufficient.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FreeTacosAreBestTacos</b></div><div>
So Rangers retain 1.8 on Nash, making it an even swap salary-wise. Also, if Nash is willing to waive his NMC to go to Edmonton, there's at least a decent chance of him resigning there, likely at a rate somewhere closer to 4 million than 8</div></div>
He'd have to re-sign for considerably less than $6 million in order for it to remotely make sense for Edmonton. Nash will be 34 when the 2018-2019 season starts. Would Edmonton even want him? Why not just roll with Eberle at that point? It's not like they have to give him away. He's a good player that stays healthy (unlike Nash) and scores 20-25 per year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jeffwitz97</b></div><div>Nash>Eberle. At putting the puck in the net, perhaps Eberle is now a bit better, though its certainly debatable. However, Nash can play in all three zones, kill penalties, and is a leader. Nash's contract also expires after the year which is honestly advantageous to have versus the Eberle contract. The Rangers couldn't take on Eberle's contract because it then occupies any cap space needed to resign Skjei/Hayes/Miller/Vesey after the 17/18 year.</div></div>

Trading Eberle is mostly about shedding his $6 million. Why would they swap that for a guy who makes even more, and will be gone in a year?
Eberle has been more productive than Nash over the past few years, anyway. Three out of Nash's past 4 years have been very underwhelming. Eberle is also 5 years younger.

Devils bring the heat
If you want Shattenkirk for 4 years or less, you'll have to back up the money truck. $9 or $10 million per, I would think. He's gonna get at least $36 million on the open market, so you need to get to that amount of money even if you get him for a shorter term.
For the record, I don't think he's worth near that. I'm a Devils fan, and I hope they stay far away. If he wants to come here for 2 years and $20 million, fine. Otherwise, no thanks.

As a Devils fan, even I'll admit that isn't even in the ballpark for Brodin. Quality defenseman, signed, with term, at a reasonable cap hit. I don't care if they're in an expansion crunch, he's worth WAY more than that.

How are you getting Drouin? Offer sheet? Assuming TB doesn't match $6 million, it would cost you your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks. You're obviously prepared to do that...?

If you want Kucherov, Tampa wants D. Kucherov for Jones makes sense on multiple levels. If you don't wanna do that, it's gonna take at least Savard+++

Rumours
Would you give up Severson for a 2nd, 3rd, and a minor leaguer? No? Didn't think so. Now apply that to a player that's like Severson, only clearly better. Anaheim wouldn't even take that call. And I don't know why you would give up a 2nd rounder just to get Vegas to take Cammalleri. It's not like we're tight to the cap, we can afford to keep him even though he's overpaid. No need to give away assets that could be used elsewhere.
I do agree on Spooner, and I guess Galchenyuk is possible. They wouldn't want Merrill or Kujawinski, though, would probably have to throw in a Speers or Blandisi or something.

I would, too, if I were them. Doesn't have to be Schmidt. He's the one I like, but there are probably comparable D-men around the league who could be had for a similar price.

Fellow Devils fan here, but I don't think you're in the right stratosphere for Vatanen. To get him without spending most of our extra picks plus a roster player (or players) is a bit of a pipe dream. You're basically offering them 4 fringe NHL players who have bottom 6 or bottom pairing potential.
