<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakenclaus</b></div><div>Hey all! So long time Hockey Fan, that honestly has lost my way the last 5 years or so. Now that my Hometown is getting a squad in October, i want to really dive back in. I spent hours on this, but i know that doesn't really respect all that goes into these players and their games. This site is so awesome to give us the opportunity to do this. Please, if you geek out on personnel, please let me know how you feel i did, and how you feel this team would perform. Thanks!</div></div>

Welcome to CapFriendly! Sometimes, it's not so friendly. You have to learn to ignore nasty comments. Here's a tip: I've found that the more vicious the comment, the more ignorant the poster. One thing you should know is that each fanbase (with perhaps the exception I mention below) consists of about 50% reasonable and informed fans and 50% yahoos. The trick is learning who is who.

I think you have to consider that some teams will protect 8 skaters in order to shelter 4 defensemen, Colorado and Nashville (as you've predicted) in particular. I don't think that the Avalanche will feel a need to protect Landeskog, in which case they would protect Devon Toews. (I don't think that Joe Sakic spent two second-round draft picks for one year of Toews.) If they decide to go 7-3-1 as you have here, Toews would be a better selection (in my opinion) than Compher.

Similarly, I think the Kings may well decide to protect their 3 young eligible defenders (Clague, Roy and Walker) plus the required NMC Doughty. The four forwards would be Kopitar, Kempe, Iafallo and Andersson unless the latter disappoints. We wouldn't mind losing any of the other young forwards or Maata or MacDermid.

I'd be willing to bet Minnesota protects Parise (NMC), Zuccarello (NMC), Fiala, Eriksson Ek, Dumba, Brodin, Spurgeon and Suter (NMC) unless Dumba gets traded. Speaking of the Wild, you'll discover that their particular adherents (<a href="/users/Tansor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Tansor</a>, <a href="/users/MNBassman" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@MNBassman</a> , <a href="/users/JayTea" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@JayTea</a> and others) are the most courteous and team-knowledgeable of CapFriendly posters.

With respect to goalies, take a look at Jake Allen (Montreal), Braden Holtby (Vancouver) and Anton Khudobin (Dallas). I think that your new team will be looking to get some veterans for the net. I also think that Toronto is unlikely to re-sign Andersen, at least before the expansion draft, so the Maple Leafs will protect Campbell.

Good luck and have fun! I certainly do.
