I don't know what politics has to do with sports trade talk but okay. Its common when players are under the trade rumor mill all potential parties involved try and temper rumors as much as possible. All we know is that although there's been no formal request, gibson has let the GM know that he's open to being dealt.

obviously he would try and debunk that rumor. why would he go and say "yeah I want to get traded". probably just trying to save face and help the org facilitate a deal that has as much value coming back as possible.

I try to do something that's in the ballpark of consideration. i think holloway and broberg are a bit much given what goalie trades have looked like in recent history but, also know that a great prospect needs to be part of return. itd be between bourgeault or savoie for me

edmonton does make the most sense destination wise and given Duck GM is on a selling spree to help the rebuild its a good fitin terms assets. all comes down to if gibby would not have edm on his no trade list but given that oilers are contenders in the west for a few years, I'd be shock if he said no

id say if it was for keith or foegele + kassian then sure. Reason id say keith is cause he has on 1.5 mil in real dollars but a cap hit to reach the floor for 1 yr

holland was offered something similar when JP was about to go back to Europe (where he was at his lowest value) and said no. He'd deinifetly say no to this given that since coming back he's been elite defensively producing at a 0.5/GP and that's while being statistically unlucky. Unless Holland gets a deal that improves the team/knock his socks off, he's staying in yeg. I think Yamo has a bigger shot of leaving cause of value and org needs.

oilers say no. Holland said he is looking to make deals that improve the team. this makes the team weaker. also kassian offload shouldn't cost much given its old 2.3mil in real dollars left on his deal.

like I said smith probably retiring so theres no caphit there and kassian is only a 3.2 hit with just 2.3 in actual dollars so these a moveable dumps for cheap. only 2.3 in real dollars for a middle 6 guy under contract fits the yotes MO to a tee.
Moving klefboms contract is where the oilers could've been forced to be creative but the bishop deal limits the sweetener that teams will get in that kind of deal. JP and a 3rd/4th for strome I think is about right

1 1st would be enough in that edmonton trade package. By all accounts from insiders, barrie has solid value in the league so a top 4 RHD OFD/ PP QB, last yrs 1st rounder, AND a 1st this yr should be enough. Taking kassian doesn't cost a 1st in any world

thats quite a hefty price tag for strome. Smith is more likely than not to retire and dumping kassian shouldn't be difficult given the number of teams needing to hit the floor an still have a roster while tanking for bedard

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Koskinen_The_Great</b></div><div>Everyone is giving Kane a long term deal, I dont see the harm is taking another kind of risk with Anderson. Is it risky to bet on a guy scoring 60-70 pts on Mcdavid's wing to justify this deal, of course! But I tell you. Every ACGM I've seen has been either some with Keith/Smith retiring and others with the kids Bourgault/Holloway/Kuzmenko coming in to play on the top6, that is just too much risk in the McDrai years. They must do something bold here and that requires risk. That was a gift in getting Kane for so cheap, it aint happening this offseason. Its either we sell off completely and hope to buy back at the deadline if somewhat close to contention or be a bit creative here. I'm not opposed to keeping Bourgault and Holloway, letting them play in the top 6 but anyone expecting them to play a full year and contributing 40 plus points is a bit delusional.</div></div>
I agree with what you are saying but, Anderson is a middle 6 player, with injury issues who is a power forward about to hit 30 yo as a. oilers have history betting on powerforward at this age range several time recently and it doesn't pay off. if we are going to handicap our cap situation it has be to for a impact guy that helps us take a step and sorry andersson just isn't that. i think seattle and mtl are frontrunners for barrie. Mtl wanting him most but seattle having better packages available

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Koskinen_The_Great</b></div><div>The only stupid move is doing nothing like 2021 in the McDrai years.
Getting the powerhorse over a bunch of maybes and Kassians salary ain’t bad.
I was thinking Gallagher as an option as Anderson would probably nix the trade whereas Gally would come home and be a cheaper return. Maybe it could happen with the smoke around this rumour.
You don’t get a 28 year old power forward like Anderson for anything but a bounty. It will be the same song and dance we heard about Lucic and Kane. Kane worked because of his speed. Anderson can keep up unlike Lucic</div></div>
I think you can use bourgeault in a good hockey trade not as a way to dump kassian. we have barrie who does have value and Montreal reportedly wants. andersson for barrie and another piece would be a much more effective hockey trade. Also Lucic was once able to keep pace too.... Anderson gives major lucic red flag vibes

I think the ducks would like a 2 way centre that can kill pentlies and get the tough matchups defensively as the 2C. I think savoie might have a higher ceiling but bourgeault has the much higher floor. plus centre depth is critical for any team. xavier secures that for the ducks for a long time

Davidson isn’t an idiot. Barrie is a liability and would block our prospects, Foegele is overpaid trash and the first is likely ein the late 20s. Where is this great value? That’s a worse return than what we got for Hagel.</div></div>
hagel was a typical tdl overpay that is a cost controlled player on a career yr. you want peak value for cat? best bet is tdl next yr IMO. but if you're saying a solidified 3rd liner and A prospect is trash then by all means. but don't think for a second that NHL GM's don't have high value for barrie cause we've seen guys like him command very high prices for years now across the league cause there's always been a premium on OFD RHD that can score a boatload of points. also what guys do you even have in the system on d. the shelves are bare in that system on the back end still
