Cap Flexibility
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jinx21</b></div><div>I'm a Leafs fan that has a soft spot for the Oilers. I'll defer to their hardcore fans.
I like RNH, but Hall has proven he can drive a line if needed. RNH has never proven that. I just don't see him being worth any kind of a raise. I'd rather two $4M wingers in the top six than give RNH $8M. You'd know better than me about what the talk is for resigning RNH.
I see Nurse has a decent enough D-man, but certainly not a #1. I'd try a lot of different options, as you say maybe Jones, to see if I could get Seattle to take the final two seasons of Neal's cap hit. 97 and 29 are in their prime right now, two more seasons of Neal is wasted money for the depth this team needs.
I would use a significant amount of the expiring contracts to take a run at an established #1. Maybe even Rask?
Like I say, I'll defer to you. I made this basically to show a buddy that's a big Oiler fan that there's reason for some hope! :)</div></div>
Hall is more of a set up man than a shooter. He gets lots of shots but lots of low quality and he misses lots. Hall also didn’t really ever mesh well with Mcdavid he played with draisaitl. Mcdavid is the passer he needs a shooter. RNH can score and he was also dynamite with draisaitl. He’s a center too if mc d or drai gets hurt. Ideally you get somebody who can play with mcdavid and move RNH back beside draisaitl. Nurse is farther along in development than jones and we know what he is. He can play he just makes the odd gaff. Jones is a half developed prospect he could be really good but they have 2 other prospects in samorukov and Broberg who will be at least as good. If Klefbom doesnt come back or is out for his yearly 20 games of injuries nurse can cover for a while as no 1 D but jones can’t yet.

Nuge would be a better signing than hall. You trade nurse and you are asking for trouble. I think you are more likely to trade jones in that situation. Get rid of turris and put in McLeod or haas.

Also, I'm really sorry about all this nonsense with PLD. It can't be easy being so close to contention and your best C, a major backbone of the team, wants out.
Must be so draining as a fan. Never really ends does it?

Why would you rip off your own team. PLD isnt in the same Ballpark as Draisaitl and Jones doesnt make up that difference.

Draisaitl’s contract is very good and you can’t replace a 100 point center it’s the hardest thing to get. You have to sabotage your own team for 10 years to get another. A top defence man gets drafted every year or two.

PLD is a 60-70 pts (proportional to an 82 games season) guy if he plays on a good offensive team and Jones is a top 10 d-man in the league</div></div>
Even CBJ fans will point out Jones flaws, hes not a top 10 dman in the league

If his value was actually declining, people wouldn't be running here to put together trade proposals with wishful thinking for their team to get him for a lowball deal.

Marner to Columbus from the Toronto Perspective
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RangerWall92</b></div><div>I don't think CBJ would accept</div></div>
It certainly would give Columbus a bonafide superstar that is under contract for 5 more seasons for a club that has the space and depth to fit a $10M+ deal. Roster stability and a star that wants to be there is what that organization needs more than anything.

I like Marner as well, just wasn't too happy with the contract demand. I've developed a soft spot for Nylander though. He gets undeservedly **** on in that market.</div></div>

I'd say moving Matthews to Arizona should be the right move, but you could get a lot more return. He is gonna walk to them as soon as his deal'
s up anyways.
Nobody will trade for Tavares and Marner will not get full value back.
Nylander's too good to move

OTT can have him back guy is a joke
Karlsson was declining probably due to injuries late in Ottawa tenure. Sharks made a mistake, giving up so much in a trade for one year rental. But then they compounded the problem (as GMs tend to do) is they felt it necessary to resign Karlsson so they could justify the trade. And even worse they added picks to the trade with the resigning.
Gee, 11.5m sure could've got you quality UFAs and kept the assets you traded to Ottawa. Admitting the Sharks went to the Cup final with EK, but it looks all downhill from now. Plus the Sharks have those horrid long term expensive contracts on declining players.....Couture, Vlasic, Burns and Karlsson and you might add Jones too.
