playoff lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>Knies or Bert on the topline would be there for their corner work and net presence. You have removed that element putting Nylander on the topline. Why?

After watching the leafs for years it makes sense loading up the top line and have them learn to do stuff themselves. They’re taking up most of the cap and it unrealistic to rely on players with low cap hits like knies, Ritchie, bunting, bertuzzi (not a low cap hit but also just doesn’t fit), jarnkrok. Those guys aren’t built for high minutes. Knies is a rookie and already playing on a top line which might hurt his game as he has to adjust being the 3rd guy on a top line rather than a player who just needs to improve and start his career. He plays well with them rn but not great. Also will benefit the top guys because there won’t be anyone to help them during scrums. They would have to learn to be team players and do it themselves. Might help them be more aggressive and motivated to grab the puck in the corners. The top players set the tone for the team and that’s something most people don’t understand. Although I still understand and respect ur decision with what u want for the playoffs. I just feel there needs to be more of an initiative out of the top guys

Parayko and Dowd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Uhh what now? His contract is fine. What sucks is that you somehow imagine that this garbage offer can;t be beat. Dude, teams have been calling nonstop for him since before the Cup season. A late 1st, a small forward who can't stay in one piece and a B prospect that is the exact opposite of what the Blues are looking for does NOT get you a genuine 1RD with 12M of retention. Your garbage offer doesn't even come anywhere near paying for just the retention.
You guys up there have a problem.</div></div>
So you don’t have a problem paying a defender 6.5m until he’s 37? Players mostly decline in their 30s. Recently 34 has been a big number. Parayko is already declining.
You guys still haven’t proposed an offer. That’s how I know you guys hop on this website just to argue because you think you know everything lmao. I’ve been right with lots of trades in the past so Ik how to value players. You can’t make me feel wrong because you’re too attached to your top defender. Lets not forget that you guys are also in a retool which can take another 2-3 years. It’s best for the Blues to trade Parayko now. no one else will make what the Maple Leafs are offering. And that’s on you guys for having to retain 12M. Next time give your defender a better deal for your org.
You guys up there have a problem

Leafs will give you a crap return and tell you how awful he is just so they can justify the turd sandwich they're giving you!
But Leafs fans will continue creating Parayko to Leafs CFACGMs every half hour!</div></div>
Nobody is saying he's bad. His contract sucks and you know that. No other team in the NHL will be willing to give up what we are for him which is why they'll accept. Calling a 1st round pick, Robertson and Hirvonen a turd sandwich is crazy considering their potential and value. Next time maybe don't sign a bad contract. Maybe give me your trade proposal?

Reavo? Mcmann? Why are you bringing up leaf players I have no intention of replacing? You're the definition of a bad Leaf fan. You don't know everything. maybe look at some stats every now and then to make your point. Who are we gonna play when we have 2 injured players on the roster? Steeves? Abruzzese? they haven't played any NHL games this season to indicate that they are ready.

IK but maybe the coaching staff can help him. Having him for 3 years at 1.7M is a lot better then having Liljegren for 3M. And if Peeke could return to being a useful defensive defenseman it'll be worth it. either way, this is just all my speculation based on what the insiders are saying and if CBJ scouts/GM found what they were looking for when they attended the Marlies game. Ik it's not ideal but it's better then paying Liljegren 3M to play on our 3rd pair. Could even get Peekes contract retained a little more if it doesn't cost much

He’s a good player but makes too many mistakes. We also need a physical guy. We can’t go into another Boston series or Florida series with a soft team.

McBain and Borgen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>ah the classic "this guy is so much better than the guy I'm trading for!" CF logic.
Robertson isn't a bad player but he has an injury history longer than your average CVS receipt. MIettinen is another 5'9" winger who's not rated all that well in a pretty bad prospect system and has to be considered to be a risk to not sign, considering he's a college senior only a few months from becoming a UFA.
McBain might not score as much as Robertson, but that's not necessarily his job. He's a 6'3" 3rd liner who won't kill you at C and hits anything that moves, and holds his own on the PK as well. He's still young enough to be an important role player moving forward, so there's really no impetus for the Coyotes to trade him - meaning you'd probably have to overpay to get him out of the desert. This doesn't count as an overpay in my eyes.</div></div>
Make the playoffs and then comment

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yotes269</b></div><div>The entire point is we don’t need an undersized skilled 3LW, he’ll never progress and pass Keller, Maccelli, or Crouse. We also have plenty like him in the pipeline already. What we don’t have is a physical bottom 6 C who can produce and hit, which is exactly why you’re trying to make this trade in the first place, you don’t have it either and you do have other skilled undersized wings.</div></div>
Great point but you guys are still in last place. You guys already have crouse, Bjugstad and o Brian. All physical guys but can’t shoot. You guys have a lot of young players who still need time to develop. Maple leafs don’t need a 3rd center we’re just gonna use him as a winger if anything. Robertson can still be better than Maccelli. I think it’s still too soon to shut the door on Robertson as he’s shown a lot of progress this year. He could play a lot better for you guys as there is less pressure.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bwhsocal</b></div><div>lets hear this one. what history?
lets look at this trade AZ would get - undersized W not in top 10 of TML pool (which is amongst the worst), an undersized oft injured skilled W (get in line behind keller, schmaltz, maccelli, guenther, carcone) really isnt that great need for AZ. AZ gives up 23yo physical C (by far their worst position at NHL and in pool) penciled in as 3C for long time and a 3rd next year. Yeah that is a laugh arse off and hang up</div></div>
You just said a lot of nothing lmao. Robertson is a lot better than McBain if you would just watch both of the players it's obvious that Robertson is more skilled and has more points. McBain will never be a center on the third line as he has a 43% faceoff win percentage. Yes, McBain can still get a few points but was never a scorer. Robertson is already playing on the 3rd line and is scoring more points in fewer games than McBain and with more takeaways in fewer minutes. His potential is far better than McBain but yet again you're telling me he's not lmao. Robertson is already better and he played 50 games less than McBain in his entire NHL career.
