This is nuts. IF we spend $5.5M on Lehner I'll be quite pissed.

Chucks team
Could make sense as Winnipeg needs to replace Trouba. Not a bad build. A little tight on the cap though. May not get a 2nd for Hagg but that's pretty much irrelevant to the team build. I don't like needing to start Morin and only having Friedman as the 7th D though. That's kinda scary.

Radcliffe from Philly and FU to Sharks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>what the heck is this ?
Smith by himself is worth Radcliffe and a couple PHI picks
Miller has less value but could still land a 1st from TML most deffinately along with a prospect like Gauthier
Reaves has an established price of a 1st rounder for the leagues top Fighter.
there is no way VGK moves him for less then a high to mid 2nd rounder
they may have cap questions to be answered but Eakin ,Haula and Bellmare can all be replaced for less .
trade them for picks and cheap but effective players like MTL's Charles Hudon who will make the league minimum but played 4th line with 125+ hits and 30 pts his rookie year to crack the line up .
the league's full of Charles Hudon Type's to sign Cheap .
ANA's Kalle Kossila is someone who could thrive in VGK
the list goes on</div></div>
Your players aren't worth double everybody else's just because their your players. Get a grip for God's sake.

Trouba in another take
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cory</b></div><div>I agree, he probably is a solid 5. My point was that Philly fans everywhere talk about how good he is and cost controlled. Yet, every trade has him going somewhere else. IMO I don't see Philly as a great trading partner when it comes to Trouba. Philly has so much dman talent in the system that they can wait a year or 2 and probably come out with the best d crew in the league. All i was getting at is that I don't believe Gudas is a player that fits what the Jets are looking for. His track record is horrible, He has been suspended and fined so much over his career and a few years ago went after Giroux and Vorachek in the same practice. Realistically, Would you want him on your team?</div></div>
What??? I follow the Flyers religiously and never heard anything about Gudas going after anyone in practice. That would be a monster story around here if something like that happened. I agree there are better fits for him, like Edmonton or Florida. I'd only want to move him if we can add a top 4 ufa or two and would look to just get a mid round pick in return.

I keep seeing all of these Flyers trades for Trouba, but I don't think that is the right direction. We need to get better defensively. DRASTICALLY better, or we have no chance to be competitive in playoff caliber hockey games.

I don't get why you're making such a big deal over Gudas. He's only signed for one more year. The only real reason for the Flyers to move him is if we pick up better dmen and don't have a roster spot for him. He won the Ashbee Award this year as Flyers best Dman (voted on by players). Granted our defense was pretty bad, so it isn't saying a whole lot but does at least show his teammates respect him. I think he's a solid 5 myself, though this year he probably played a little above that for much of the season. But honestly I wouldn't want to give up Myers. He looks like he's going to be a very good defensive right handed D for years to come and I wouldn't want to move him for another offensive dman, which we already have a few of.

My thoughts exactly! Or maybe Ghost could be part of a deal to get Spurgeon. I've actually done a couple rosters here on capfriendly as such. Probably all a pipe dream, but man would that be awesome. I saw a rumor somewhere that Fletcher inquired about Spurgeon early-mid last season but Minny insisted on getting back Sanheim, which is a bad deal for us.

Philly with TOR trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>I know pmwalker and I disagree on the value of Zaitsev, who I think is a solid number 4 RH dman. But even most TOR fans are willing to trade him in their proposals for a 4th or a 5th rounder.
Gudas is a solid third pairing guy, that TOR defense definitely needs. Strong, physical vet who can play PK and bang bodies.
Zaitsev is, IMO, worth Gudas straight up. Kapanen more than makes up the difference, (and any leaf fans that think he’ll re-sign for less than 3.5mil AND that he won’t get offer sheeted are fooling themselves).
The Leafs get at least 5mil in cap space, a solid, physical defender without a long term salary and three good prospects, whereas the flyers get some needed speed on the wing and hopefully a solid top defender, (IMO, pmwalker).
The leaf fans can think that Marleau will be an easy move even for nothing: (considering his age, salary, his “heart”, and the teams (who already have bad contracts and old guys and aren’t “that close” that Marleau in his swan song will help) he’ll waive his NMC to), they’re kidding themselves. They need cap space and need something on the defense. This helps with both those while retaining their key pieces and not reliant on a hopeful trade of marleau.</div></div>
Gudas and Zaitsev are somewhat similar players. (I think you may be overrating Gudas' PK abilities though). The problem with Zaitsev is the contract. Gudas makes less money, and will probably get even less dollars in his next contract (1 yr left on current deal). The last thing the Flyers should be doing is bringing in an overpaid, overtermed (made up a word, LOL) 3rd pair guy when we have so many young dmen in our pipeline. It would just be stupid, plain and simple.

Silly Leaves fan. Our version of Zaitsev is not Gudas. It is Andrew McDonald (aka Mr. Lead Anchor). There are UFA dmen out there who are better than Zaitsev and can likely be signed for less dollars AND less term than Zaitsev. If you can find an absolute moron GM to give up value for Zaitsev good for you. But it sure as hell better not be Fletcher.

??? I would be ok trading Hagg if neccessary, but I'm not of the opinion he should just be dumped. To me he's a young, serviceable 3rd pair guy who can be held onto for a low cap hit. I consider that a valuable piece because you can't have a team full of upper echelon players. You need some guys who can just do their job at minimal cost.

Gudas is a 3rd pair dman and only has one year left. I could see this being considered an overpay for Spurgeon, but certainly not massive. If Minny would take this it would be well worth it to secure a legit top 2 dman. We'd have to have an extension agreed upon with Spurgeon to make this deal though. Otherwise it's a disaster.

Roster Put Together Just For Fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>So if say, Giroux had multiple years where he has gotten Selke votes, would that also speak to this deficiencies on defense, or would that just prove you ever further out of your element? Bro, Im not saying Giroux is a top 10 defensive forward, what I am saying is that he is not a burden, he is not a liability, he is not deficient on defense. His advanced stats speak to it, but also his peers giving him votes for the best defensive forward award in the NHL, multiple years in a row no less!, say this. here are some links for your perusal:
<a href="https://www.hockey-reference.com/awards/voting-2016.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockey-reference.com/awards/voting-2016.html</a>

Top 30 every single year for the last 3 years in a row, including number 16 in terms of Selke votes the year he switched to wing, sounds like I was spot on with my assessment of Giroux's defensive skills.</div></div>
Lol. Not voted on by "his peers". Voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. He got 4 total votes over those 3 years (probably from the same 1 or 2 writers). The year he finished 16th he got 1 vote for 4th place. Also, he did not finish in the top 30 all 3 years.
But still, you win. Personally I think this only means there is one, maybe two lunatic hockey writers out there. But you provided tangible evidence to support your argument, and I can not. So you win. I give up.

Now this took all of 2 seconds to find, however, you can believe that it has been said ad-naseum on Flyers broadcasts, on NHL network, on those little candid interviews they do with other players, etc. etc. etc. You're opinion may be that he is a burden defensively, and thats fine, but when you say no one thinks he is a 200 foot player, you're 100% wrong.</div></div>
Yeah you reached pretty deep for these. And neither one says anything at all about G being good defensively. The first one, which looks to be from his rookie year, makes a brief mention of giving effort on all 200 ft of the ice. The 2nd one is about JVR and how G helped him get going. Not even any remote mention of defense. I watch NHL Network all the time, and no one I've seen has ever called Giroux a good defensive player. Over the past couple of years he has certainly made a visible effort to get better defensively. He has gotten a little better, but he still just is not good at it. And yes, whenever he makes a good play the Flyers broadcast team will highlight it. They are a homer broadcast team, and that's fine, I like it like that. I've watched nearly every game of Giroux's career. At most I've missed maybe a handful of his games. And I'm telling you, he's a great player and I love the guy, but he is far from good defensively. It's hard to find stats that say that. There are advanced stats out there, which I am not a big fan of. Any stat that attempts to measure defensive ability relies to some degree on non individual factors. And commentators on NHL Network and such are reluctant to criticize players and would prefer to just talk more about what they are good at. Especially star players. You can believe what you want to believe, but I'm extremely confident in my observation that Giroux is a sub par defensive player.
