V5 League Wide Announcements
Greetings all GMs
New thread is posted to allow everyone to see where they fall in the waiver order each month.
Using the in game standings on the final day of each month is what will be used to determine the waiver order for the following month.
This will be reset for each month now until the end of the season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hanson493</b></div><div>why would there be rolling order for 2 claims if the order gets reset every month, thats kind of inconsistent? my opinion, it doesnt make any sense to do it that way, it should be fixed based on standings from last year and then you put seattle somewhere in the top 5. NHL and NFL waivers are set that way, if buffalo makes a claim irl they dont move to the back of the waiver line... the only thing rolling waivers is used for is fantasy sports like fantasy football where you cant determine the true worst/best teams to get a set waiver order.</div></div>
We did it that way ONLY for Oct because we are allowing 2 claims because waivers opened up in late Sept.
It'll go back to normal when NOV comes around since all teams will only get 1 successful claim per month

V5 League Wide Announcements
Attention GMs
With the game stared the BOG has agreed to open the waiver system.
What you need to know...
-waivers open now and will close Oct 10th at 9pm EST
-you may use this period to assign players to your AHL club
-any players who are "waiver exempt" do not need to go through this process
-teams wishing to place a claim on any waived players please remember you only get 2 for October so think before you act
-we will use last years real life draft order to determine the order
-<strong>you must have the contract spot AND roster spot open in order to win a claim, break this rule you lose the claim and the player goes to next in the order</strong>
-<strong>any player you claim and are awarded MUST remain on your roster OR go through waivers again to be sent to the AHL</strong>
-if you win a claim and waive that player again to send down, the team you claimed them from can re-claim that player and it will not count toward the monthly limit (within 3 months)
-you CANNOT trade a waiver claimed player for 3 months without them passing through waivers again first
With the season starting Oct 12th ALL TEAMS MUST BE CAP COMPLIANT NO LATER THAN 11:59:59PM EST OCTOBER 11th

But hey, go ahead and gawk despite being only 4 points ahead of the Senators.</div></div>
And those fancy stats, what'd they get the team? Mike Smith now = 10 straight Playoff losses. He could go 82 - 0 with 1.000 SV% and 0.00 GAA
Doesn't mean a darn thing if he can't do it when it counts most. and those 10 losses spread out over 2 different teams, so it's not just the "shaky D" as you put it.
Personally I would've rather finished 4 points BEHIND the Senators, but didn't happen. Any chance you have a broom I could borrow to SWEEP it away.

Blockbuster deal with the flames
I don't see any reason why Calgary would make that BUF trade.
Maybe it was posted in some way to balance the cap hits, but i terms of player value that's far too much to give up from a Calgary perspective.
Eichel now falls under the "risky" player category given what I've heard with his neck and the surgury he wants to get done.
You just never know with those types of things.
I think if BUF wants anyone from CGY, Monahan would be the guy they should look at to slot into a 2C role behind Eichel going forward.

On behalf of the Pacific division, we thank you for doubling Mike Smith's salary for another 2 years only to be a backup.
And another EDM page that only gives RNH a minimal raise long term.
I have to think if the Oilers only value him as a 250K - 350K above current value player, he goes somewhere else.
For sure there's a team or teams that have the ability to give him a little more and a more prominent role rather than playing behind 97/29

This team needs a big re-tool
How do you justify giving RNH only a $250K raise, for another 4 years especially when you have James Neal making only 500k below that?

Definite no on the Columbus trade, the difference between Monahan and Domi is not a 3rd to a 2nd. Especially since you are trading our only decent center prospect for a winger</div></div>
I forgot how bad we are and where this years 1st rd pick could land.
Didn't even think about it when I did this....or perhaps I'm not ready to admit how bad we are this year.............

I'm not sure I understand the ryan for Staal trade???
They're both UFAs so if either team wants either guy they can just make an effort to sign him in the off season.
Trade deadline has passed so you can't even make this trade if you wanted to.

What should we do?
I go back 'n forth on this almost daily. But now that the quarantine is being reduced I'm leaning more towards the team making one last push before bigger actions in the summer.
Start by packaging what it takes to get Sam Reinhart out of Buffalo, throw him on the wing with 13 & 23. If it works, great but if it doesn't he's still an RFA who would have greater value if you choose not to sign him.
Based on the thoughts the club needs to win around 16 of it's final games, 9 of those are against VAN/MTL so even going .500 against the rest gives them a chance to squeak into the playoffs where anything can happen, and usually does.
My other train of thought is if you're not going to do something to help the team make a push, then don't wait for summer and start unloading now.
Rittich could be a valuable option for a lot of teams
Bennett, well Brian Burke says he loves Sam so call up the Pens and see what can be done. Pens are injury riddled and Burke knows the impact Bennett can have in the playoffs.
Monahan, I'm sure there's a few team who could find a place for a proven 30 goal guy, good PP guy heading into the playoffs. The return might not be what it once could've been, but opening up $6.35M in cap space heading to the summer would be a huge help.
Giordano, just expose him to Seattle and pray they take him and his cap hit too.....or Lucic.
Last, or first thing I'd do is finally relieve Treliving of his duties and give the job to Conroy.

Oh no no no, Tkachuk is not part of the discussion in any way.
Everyone tries, but it's an absolute no from the Flames perspective

Mid season adjustments
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RoyalBlueSabres</b></div><div>Doubt they would shell out a 1st a 2nd and olofsson.
the team needs to continue to build and shelling out a young player and 2 high draft picks isn't really in the cards.
If they keep Eichel they more than likely would get a stop gap 2c and wait for Mitts or Cozens to permanently take that role.</div></div>
I get what you're saying regarding the picks being given, but BUF needs to do something on the ice now, and waiting another 2-5 years for whoever they use those picks on isn't the answer.
Whoever they draft with that 2022 1st will most likely be some 18yr old kid who will take maybe 2+ years to be an effective NHL'er, so that's already a min 3 year wait whereas Mony gives them a proven center right now.
Monahan gives them a perfect 2C behind Eichel and a guy who has a proven track record of 30+ goal seasons.

Just imagine how the constant weather changes in Calgary would affect that. 1 Chinook and he'd be out for weeks
