Sabres have to buy low

That's fair. Most Wild games I watched he was at C. Maybe could go back to the position? IDK but he seems like a good fit

I think Granlund is better then Tierney. Tierney is only really better then Granlund at faceoffs (CT at 51%, MG at 44%) Granlund is a center too he played it in Minnesota. Nashville just hasn't used him at C.

Still think we need to figure out a reasonable trade using a RD too. Not ideal for any of these guys to play their off side.</div></div>
Hard to predict trades so I'm not gonna bother until there's more rumors out and about

There's options, but I like this idea more then resigning Simmonds. Plus Granlund can play wing so he and Mitts can switch if needed

Less is More
1) Reinhart has good chemistry with Mittelstadt, so why not keep them together even on Line 3 (they are both on PP1 as well so they'll get ice time).
2) If Skinner goes to FA, theres no way he gets less then what E. Kane got last year (7 million per). But Skinner won't get more then Mark Stone (9.5 Mil per). If the Sabres re-sign Skinner, 8X9 is my gut feeling

I didn't see that till after I did this. Honestly it's more of a pipe dream to get Point like that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMTD</b></div><div>Let's agree that is a good return for O'Reilly. You and I agree to that and it appears at least a few of the CF Blues GM agree as well.
A decent prospect = Kyrou, J (maybe better than Asplund, Nelson or Guhle, would make him the 5th best Sabre prospect behind Nylander, Dahlin, Ullmark and Mittelstadt) < Zadorov
decent middle 6 forward = Sobotka, V = Compher
always nice to have2019 = 1st round pick (STL) > 2015 31st over all
the more the merrier I always say = 2019 2nd round pick (STL) > nothing
Jamie McGinn = Grigorenko</div></div>
You got it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMTD</b></div><div>Oops, I forgot, Five stars for trading O'Reilly
You are a very rare Sabre CF GM, you know that O'Reilly is not returning more than he was worth 3 years ago. Many think he will get more. He is older, has not let his team to the playoffs (in fact worse the last 2 years) and publicly stated that he did not give it all last year. Who wants a player who does not give 100% all of the time. I will watch for your comments as you are not blinded by your team loyalty.</div></div>
I appreciate your comment. But I don't agree on the stuff on ROR. I've played hockey for years and know where he's coming from when he said that. I don't think he meant it as he wasn't giving 100% all the time. He meant it as it got hard to be happy to go to his place of employment everyday. It's not a matter of his on ice work ethic, he's one of the hardest working players on the team. They say if you're happy at your job you never work a day in your life.

Oh yes, Five stars for moving O'Reilly.</div></div>
I'm a Sabres fan lol. Personally I want O'Reilly to stay. But if you can get that kind of return, take it.

I love both Thomas and Kyrou as prospects. Not sure who will project better, but I'd imagine the Blues would trade Kyrou over Thomas for a guy like O'Reilly. Plus I love Kyrou as a prospect ha

Fix the mess?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MarcC29</b></div><div>The Sabres aren't getting Grubauer for two 4th round picks. Considering there's likely to be several teams interested, the price will be at least a 2nd, if not more. And he absolutely is not signing that contract for only $1 mil per season. I'd also be pleasantly surprised if the Sabres are able to get anything in a trade for Lehner. I don't see anyone being desperate enough to give up assets when they could always wait until free agency, since the Sabres probably won't qualify him. This team would be just as bad considering there's barely any turnover of the current roster.</div></div>
The price for Grubauer and Lehner isn't what I think will happen, obviously, I think it's more likely he'll get a similar return as Talbot got in 2015. Not exact but close. Contract wise, hmm, I can see closer to 2-3 million on a 1 or 2 year deal. I'm more suggesting the Sabres should make a play for Grubauer. Grubauer being an RFA gives the Caps a bit more leverage in a potential trade too. Yes, there's not a lot of turnover, but I don't think there needs to be much turnover. Depth is the problem here in Buffalo. Most people suggest trading ROR, Ristolainen, and Okposo and even Jack, which I don't want to do. At least for Okposo, I wanna see if he can have a bounce back year next season. This team is not as bad as what the standings say. I really think they are just having a Colorado Avs kind of year like they did last year. Do I think they'll bounce back like the Avs next season? Likely no. But they're not as bad as it looks, so I don't think there needs to be a lot of turnover. If the Sabres can win the first pick and add speed to the depth lines, they will improve big time next season.

Playoffs?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div><i>Girgensons is not that valuable, Carrier is a bigger piece than him. Austin and the 5th round pick aren't needed. Still do the Rangers trade their captain for 8 overall a third liner and an unproven top 9 forward? I think they have bigger problems to fix first</i></div></div> The Rangers can get a really good forward or defensemen with the 8th pick (Chychrun, Nylander, Jost, McLeod, Sergachev) Girgensons has top 6 potential and Carrier is a good forward prospect. I threw Austin in the deal to give the Rangers another prospect dman. Could easily be changed with maybe Brycen Martin. Also could throw a second round pick in the mix as well if needed.
