Deadline Deals + Realistic EK trade
It would make little sense for the Oilers to go so big on a deal where they are only getting Karlsson for 1 playoff run, maybe, since they are not making the playoffs this season. Also, not sure how resigning Karlsson would even begin to work, since there is already so much money now tied up in big contracts even before considering the fact that you'd have to take on Bobby Ryan.

Deadline splash
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dragonlocks</b></div><div>I honestly think the best road would be to break contact with the NYR and end trade negotiations. We have the top rated defense in the league; we don't need McDonagh that bad. Having to choose to discard one Heinen/Carlo/DeBrusk/McDonagh, I would choose to discard McDonagh. That's just me.</div></div>
No way, stay in the talks just to drive up the price for Tampa. Make them give up as much NHL assets and quality players as possible.

Bruins TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dragonlocks</b></div><div>We've only got about 2.0 in cap space (after we send Bjork down) so in order to make a big move it would involve moving another asset; I just don't feel good about it with the way we've been playing. I wouldn't mind adding a couple of depth players but even that's dicey. If we add a forward they would have to be a right handed shot and it would be a bonus if they could play all 3 positions. They would also have to be better than anyone we currently have in the system waiting to come up. Nothing like narrowing the search criteria... lol. Ryan Hartman comes to mind but I'm not sure what the cost would be if even CHI would be willing to move him. If a defenseman, it would be nice to have a guy behind Grzelcyk for this year, a left handed shot, Kempny comes to mind, also CHI. But as said before it would be an expensive insurance policy, and I don't know if it would be worth it. It definitely couldn't touch any current roster pieces so we're talking about picks and/or prospects... I just don't know if it would be worth while...</div></div>
Bruins will have $3,397,058 in cap space according to this site at the time of the trade deadline. Cap hits for players are all prorated as well. There's a lot more to this than hard numbers.

Don’t count on it. Get more than a 2nd and it’s robbery. Plus You have the trade wizard at the helm.

"There may be a maximum of 23 players on each Club's playing roster at any one time from the commencement of the NHL regular season through the trade deadline. Prior to the start of the season, each Club must submit to the NHL its 'Opening Day Playing Roster' which shall be comprised of not more than 23 players. Each Club must have a roster of at least 20 players, composed of 18 skaters and two goaltenders. Players on Injured Reserve do not count in the 23-man limit."

Holy overpayment! No thank you on that one. I don't want that disruptive cancer anywhere near the Bruins team, especially at that price.

Possible 1/25/18 Bruins Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dragonlocks</b></div><div>Looks like they just recalled Bjork</div></div>
He was a healthy scratch.
I think you see:
Bjork -- Bergeron -- Pastrnak
DeBrusk -- Krejci -- Spooner
Heinen -- Nash -- Backes
Schaller -- Kuraly -- Acciari/Vatrano
depending on whether Acciari is out or not. There's always a chance you see Bjork and Spooner switched but that's what I'm thinking/hoping.
Definitely don't want Szwarz re-called. He's so mediocre. I'd rather see Blidh, if anything. I don't think we see a move made for a 4th liner though.

BOS 19/20 2yr plan part 2
Trying to project next year can be tough, so I like the fact you tried to do a couple years. I'm going to take a swing at a roster next year and the following year. I'll probably use 80 and then 84 for fun.

Post TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dragonlocks</b></div><div>Even moving Miller we're still busted on Cap space. Our best bet to OEL is going to be to extend Chara for 1 season and to trade/buyout Beleskey (buyout is probably more realistic at this point) then to make a monster offer when he becomes a UFA as we will have the cap space to do such. The problem is McQuaid, McAvoy, Carlo, Heinen, along with a half dozen other ELC's need signing between now and then. Plus we still have the problem of a back up goalie as Khudobin's contract also comes to an end after this season. What to do, what to do... we can't keep them all...</div></div>
This is with OEL at full cap hit. If he were acquired at the TDL, he'd have a pro-rated hit and we should be under the cap.

Is Grabner worth a 1st?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dragonlocks</b></div><div>This I agree with 100% I guess I should have phrased my question differently do you think the market commands a 1st for Grabner (I personally don't think he's worth it under "normal" circumstances) but given where the market is at right now (if the play-offs started today/or if the TDL was today) do you think he would fetch a 1st given the league standings and needs of those teams? I am guilty of not following the entire league and really try to play catch up when the TDL closes in on who's who and who needs what. I know Boston. I know we're looking for a LHD and a RW and while these trades would solve 1 of those problems (possibly 2 depending how Martin bounces back) I'm not really familiar on what other teams are needing and only slightly familiar on trade rumors and what other teams are offering up... I guess the purpose for this mock-up was to get opinions on what people think Grabner will go for as there has been absolutely zero chatter on the net of an asking price or bids in real life.</div></div>
If it started today, which teams have a ton of winger injuries? that's probably your best bet. Even then though, the more teams in the same situation will cause a player like Grabner to fetch more. If that one team decided to tough it out, NYR are stuck with Grabner and will essentially end up losing him for nothing. there is risk both ways. A team looking to move a player can't get too greedy or they end up selling the player for less then they are worth simply because they couldn't foresee that the market value being asked was simply to high of a price.
That's where those 3 o'clock trades happen. Right as the deadline hits. Somebody flinches and gives in. It could work both ways. Depends on whose more willing to go back with nothing accomplished. More times then not the team trading the player has more pressure to get something done then the team looking to add.
