(ARI/LAK) - 2024 2nd (MTL) for Durzi
If we weren't going to get a first-round pick for Durzi, I would have wanted us to at least get a top-half second in 2023, not 2024. Arizona wins this one.

Ghost is actually a better fit for the Sabres than Chychrun.
The Sabres, like most teams likely don’t want to pay the insane ask price for Chychrun, the Sabres really need more depth and an upgrade for the bottom pair than the top pair. This person should be able to go to the top four if needed

Sabres are not doing it. Strength of this team is chemistry, goaltending is good enough so far. Chychrun isn't the piece that I would try to mess things up to get him. He is good, but LHD must be least priority for Sabre right now.

Can't see Buffalo doing this, UPL is playing well, we already have 3 goalies rotating and Chychrun isn't the best on his offside. Rather go get a Murphy Schenn type

Really? I would strongly consider it. Adding Chychrun to an already strong blue line would be incredible, and Vejmelka solidifies the goaltending for a playoff run.

I think your valuation of the Ghost Bear is a tad high, especially as he's now injured and out until near the trade deadline. Evans is the Kraken's top defensive prospect and I doubt they'd move him.

Take the NYI route. Not panic. They have a lot of cap space opening up next summer and there are some really good options. Much better than Kadri

Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>I get what you’re saying. But at the end of the day, we’re talking about the difference between a lottery ticket with a 0.1% chance of hitting versus a lottery ticket with a 0.01% chance of hitting. Rangers are hitting the end of the rebuild and don’t really need 3rd or 4th round picks. Maybe Kessel isn’t the right guy, but holding onto mid-round picks instead of spending them to upgrade the roster is not how to win games in May</div></div>
Oh I agree. But if there plan is to spend it will be on bigger fish. I see them either spending a 3rd-5th on a guy or going all out for a Pavelski/Giroux

I agree with what you said. Also for me, it has to be Clarke. I think about him in the same sense Krebs was in the Eichel deal; unavailable at first but will have to be included for it to happen. I could live without the 2nd, though.
I did some proposals yesterday and the options are this one or Turcotte, Björnfot and 1st. The latter makes less sense as Björnfot is a LD and LA need those. Also, I'm not a big fan of Turcotte and there wiil be plenty of C options for us in the upcoming drafts, so no need to trade for him as the highlight of a package. Of course Clarke+ is more steep, but the price will be steep.
Also, they have more depth at RD (Faber, Grans, but also at the roster), so at least to me Clarke seems like the sensible one to trade even if he is the best.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>I wouldn’t mind that, but there’s not a true “blue chip” piece in that deal. I like Andersen and Bjornfoot but I think they’re top 4 defensemen at best. I want a piece with the potential to be the top of the lineup player like Chychrun was for us last year. You can figure out the balance on the backend later (Moser looks promising on the left side, Timmins has injury issues that have affected his development)</div></div>
Fair, like I mentioned, it does make sense for both sides. I do think he goes to the Kings and I also think the Kings should do everything in their power to acquire him. They can only play so many players, at some point they have to trade some prospects to get bigger pieces or because there's nowhere to put them in the lineup.

I like this trade for both sides, LAK don't need a 1RD for the foreseeable future with Doughty. Plus, Roy and Walker are on good contracts and serviceable in their current roles. Durzi is a good 7D.
But...
I could see AZ being more interested in Turcotte and Bjornfot/Anderson instead of Clarke and Kupari. They have Soderstrom and Timmons for the right side, it's the left side that's weaker.

They'll probably do this in the offseason so in case the pick is a lottery pick. Also, trade is a little steep but somewhat plausible

Three way - Chychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>Hindsight is 20/20 but Strome was the consensus pick after McDavid and Eichel at the time. Obviously it didn’t pan out but that’s how the draft goes. Still doesn’t change the fact that Lysell is not a good enough prospect (on his own) to trade Chychrun for</div></div>
I understand if you don't think Lysell is a good enough prospect as a centerpiece for Chychrun. Honestly, it will be a very short list of AVAILABLE prospects that are better than him. Don't fixate on the C versus W debate. Just get the best player. I never understood why people in the know would think that Strome was a consensus pick over Marner. I saw Marner for three years in junior and Strome for four and to me it was clear cut that Marner was better and I disliked London tremendously. I thought Konecny was better than Stome. Like you said, sometimes it's just how it pans out.

Trading Draisaitl
Going to copy/paste what I wrote in another recent ACGM regarding a Draisaitl to Ottawa trade :
<em>Ottawa can't afford to do that simply because Draisaitl only has 3 more years on his contract. Unless there is a change in ownership, high profile players won't want to stay in Ottawa with current ownership/management
Shane Pinto is hard to give up on but Draisaitl is among the players I'd be ready to sacrifice Pinto for.
If the pick really was the first overall then it has gigantic value as well. Brannstrom, White and 2nd add value but the main pieces are that 1st and Pinto. Despite what people will say, I wouldn't add another elite piece on top of that. At the beginning of his contract sure, but not when it's more than 50% done.
That being said, why would Edmonton do that? They want to compete now, not when that first OA, Pinto, Brannstrom all peak...
If they trade Draisaitl, it has to be for a top pairing D-man and a good top-6 forward but young enough to compete for years, let's say Miro Heiskanen and Roope Hintz for example</em>
Change Pinto to Norris
Yes that 2022 first round pick could possibly be 1st overall at the moment, you just don't trade that
In the other thread, on top of Pinto and that first, it was Brannstrom, White and 2nd
Here, it's Jake Sanderson, Egor Sokolov, another first and a 2nd
A BIG RESOUNDING NO.
As good as Draisaitl is, I would never give up :
- a 22 y/o 2-way center who looks like a 35 goals scorer
- a 19 y/o future defensive stalwart in the Jaccob Slavin mold
- a probable top-5 pick in a really great draft
- another first next year when we have no idea if Ottawa will be out of the basement or not
- Egor Sokolov who is a fan favorite prospect and has 40 pts in 55 AHL games
- a 2nd round pick like if the 5 pieces above weren't enough

Trading Draisaitl
Interesting proposal. As an Edmonton fan, my first thoughts are it’s not enough from Ottawa. We’d need an elite RHD coming back, at the very least, instead of a first round pick. I’d also insist on Connor Brown - he’s a solid middle six winger with a history with McDavid.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>He’s on pace for 55 points…. on this Coyotes team. Hasn’t been egregious in the defensive zone either. For $2.25 for this season and next why wouldn’t a team pay that price for him?</div></div>
Yeah he's bounced back offensively but he's been mediocre for a few years before that, they paid Arizona 2 picks to just take him. Moving him now anything you get is pure profit and I think you can get a 3rd maybe even a 2nd for him but he is still risky to take on. I'd think Arizona would want to keep him, he eats huge minutes and his actually dollars are less than his cap hit.

Would LOVE this deal. Proposed about the same a while back.
On Dvorak, I agree with what've read, but at the same time I see it being difficult to move him now. Looking at our roster it is already bad and we got or second 1st I think we were looking for. The reason to move Dvorak now isn't as big as before. We want to be bad, but I think the tank should be somewhat respectable. Also need some good (young) players left to guide (even) younger players. Of course, if an overpayment is offered I'd do it, but it would have to be a quality piece coming back and an easy yes. However, this is just my opinion/guess and I might be completely wrong, haha.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>Maybe. Coyotes writer said that Dvorak chatter quieted down today. I like the Rangers deal you posted the other day for Chytl and Georgiev. But I think the Eichel deal has to happen first, whoever Dvorak gets traded to.
If I had a nickel for every time someone on this website said there’s no way a goalie would return a first round pick…. Armstrong has balls of steel watching the market unfold and getting maximum return back. Hopefully Timmins can realize his potential with more NHL playing time.</div></div>
I agree Eichel first. But Chytil or Kravtsov as the main piece back is good. And hopefully Timmins pans out and fills a top 4 spot right below Soderstrom.
