HAHAHAHAH LEAFS CANT SIGN MARNER
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsin9</b></div><div>Matthews is comparable to eichel mackinon ROR when it comes to being a ppg player. Goals he compares to Ovi kucherov or Tara? How close to those guys did he sign?</div></div>
Just because Matthews and Nylander who overpaid (IMO), doesn't mean the Leafs can or have to continue the RFA tradition. The only leverage Marner has is an offer sheet or to not to sign with the Leafs. Sure Marner and his camp can argue Matthews....Leafs can argue Aho, and Kucherov. Still to come Point and Rantanen more comparable.

lol that narrative died in like 2014....sure hes not patrice bergeron but he has other elements to his game besides the one timer....thats ridiculous to compare the 2–Ovechkin led the entire league in goals this season and has done so 7 other times....kessel has a nice wrist shot and is good at eating hot dogs and playing poker

Pittsburgh Penguins signed Brandon Tanev (6 Years / $3,500,000 AAV)
.
<strong>Brandon Tanev is 27 with 51 CAREER points .... This man just picked up almost $500,000 per CAREER point .... This man BALLS HARD.</strong>
If this type of math was used on high scoring 27 year olds .... we'd be seeing tons of $200,000,000 - $300,000,000 contracts ....
<strong>And yes I'm aware</strong> .... Tanev has intangible value as a hardworking grinder .... But what happens to unskilled grinders past the age of 27 ???
They fall off a mother f***** cliff .... Tanev's speed / health isn't gonna last forever .... and it most definitely will be gone before he's 34.
I thought this team was cap-strapped Rutherford? ... You just traded an 85 point player to save $1,300,000 in cap-space for a year?

Solid no more moves needed
Pretty strong July 1st.
Also agree i am pumped for this team. Solid moves. This team is solid up and down. This is the exact team I would make. Boyd, Leipsec, Hathway filling the final 2 spots in the lineup and can insert any pair in and out to the match ups we need.
Also agree Stephenson played his way out of the lineup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsin9</b></div><div>What if you took reeves back?</div></div>
Sure, we could take him. We just signed Hartman but Hartman has played center. Something like Zucker and Greenway for Gusev and Reaves?

I'm so pumped for this team. Loved the signings. Super excited for Leipsic, Hathaway, and Panik. I'm especially excited to see how Leipsic and Dowd play together. They have some sneaky offensive talents. I'm also on board with getting rid of Stephenson. Really was invisible last year. Getting a fourth or fifth for him would be solid. Stock up on picks for the coming draft, refill the prospect pool, and prepare for the retirement of our current stars.
This could be a team ready for a deep run.

This was a horrible signing no doubt. waste of money. They should have just given the 700k to a homeless shelter or something. They won't get any hockey out of it either way.

Florida Panthers signed Brett Connolly (4 Years / $3,500,000 AAV)
It seems like GMBM didn't value him as highly as we thought. The AAV was reachable for the Caps perhaps, but with it we don't sign Garnet Hathaway. I'd rather have a similar and more versatile Panik, along with an upgrade on the 4th line of Hathaway than simply Connolly alone. I'm happy with what GMBM did here.

There was a reason the Blues kept him on our unsigned players list. He was terrible. Glad he is gone now, and Blues won't stop it and can't stop it because he is now a UFA was an RFA last year which is why no one signed him, but nonetheless still mega doodoo.

Yet Dubas surrounds Matthews with small "skilled" players, who'll run and hide from those annoying tough mean players.
The secret to playoff success is not what Dubas is planning to build. His draft picks are pathetic, is he still believing he's the Greyhounds Jr. League GM>?

EvolvingWild's contract projections had Panik's most likely deal as 4 years and ~$4.8M AAV; Connolly will be missed, but this is a great signing (plus the third line is now the H.EL.P line so that's fun)

Completely agree, he's only 28 years old so if needed, I don't think there will ever be a problem trading that contract.

2.5M is good for a player that will score you 15 goals and is pretty good defensively. He drives play but his consistency is what sucks. But the AAV is good for a player like him.
