Maybe something centered around Priskie, Suzuki or Kuokkanen?

Haula
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>Haula isn't at that tier of player to justify a Jost level played. Sorry thats just way too much to give up
Jost and a 2nd gets you a Kreider. Haula just isn't at that level to warrant that return</div></div>
We probably have to agree to disagree, but I think Haula is definitely that tier of player, but has never been given the role of 2C. Haula's biggest flaw is his injury history, though, and that would make me think twice from COL's perspective. Kreider is a complementary winger, Haula has 2C potential and plays PP1 and PK's. If not for the injury history, I would take Haula over Kreider everyday of the week.

AJ Greer and the conditional pick? Only roster player that avs could move would be Matt Nieto and I dont think that does anything for either team. Tough for any playoff team to touch their NHL roster who would be interested in Haula. Wont be able to get a middle 6 forward to replace Haula from a playoff team.</div></div>
My suggestion has been a return of Jost + a 3rd/4th that slides to a 2nd/3rd if Haula re-signs or COL makes SCF.

Haula
If you aren't getting a first or better you shouldn't trade him unless you fall out of the race.
If you flip it around are the canes could enough to trade a 2nd or 3rd to get a top 6 forward for a cup run? The answer is yes.

What are your teams deadline needs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>canesfan</b></div><div>Canes need a #1 goalie and another defenseman. Top 6 forward would be nice to add to the mix as well.
I can honestly see us and Minnesota being a good trade partner given our # of picks/prospects.</div></div>
I could see that. But the Wild want Necas and I just don't see how we get that done.

If he rebounds and stays healthy until the deadline it makes all the sense in the world though. It’s a huge if but I could see it happening.

AHL is filled with NHL-caliber forwards though. It's a mans league, I could see him centering line 3 in CAR just like I can see Cody Glass centering line 3 in Vegas. If he was playing C in junior or college I would definitely agree with you. AHL is full of NHL tweener players that have NHL strength and speed, so I don't think he will struggle.

well there it is a stays with you guys. He might have signed just so we can get a better contract from the Cans. Well Congrats

He thinks it's the same team this was under Karmanos, when in reality it's anything but. The fact of the matter is he has taken on more salary than he's given up over the course of his trades here. He is not cheaping out, he's just not spending mindlessly, and people are gonna say he wants to set an internal cap and whatever, we know what he's done. We know what our prospect pool looks like, we know why he isn't spending (Svech won't be cheap) We know this, let others speculate my dude

Trade him before then.... not hard. In 5 years, Svech Necas Suzuki and maybe more will be firing at the NHL level, you move him to make space. You get a good return for him.... it's not rocket science. All this has done is f*ucked MTL over because they can't get within 300k of the cap. It's quite a dumb move from Bergevin when he has so many more urgent needs... also remember Domi is an RFA next year, and Kotkaniemi the year after, and Carolina draft more fins than anyone else in the league (Thats a genuine stat btw, they make more than 25% of their picks out of Liiga). Carolina are still in the position of strength here. Don't forget that, one of these teams made the playoffs this year, and got to the 3rd round, the other missed and picked up Cale Caufield...

No... you don't know this franchise. The canes made enough money in selling season tickets for next year to match that ALONE. You really need to do your research. It's not been matched yet because they want to stop Montreal from spending, they have to leave 300k in cap space because, even with the inflated cap ceiling, they'd be over if they let Aho go, which would result in a bigger penalty. They are going to match this, Waddell has said that in his press conference yesterday (NHLCanes on twitter if you wish to view it). As for the canes owner.... you seem to forget this guy is a MULTI MILLIONAIRE. 21 million for the guy he said wants to keep no matter the cost, is nothing. You really need to do more of your own research before you go commenting on things like this, because you still seem to view this as the team it was under Karmanos, which it isn't.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>canesfan</b></div><div>I could see that. However, that was not the way to get that point across at all.
It's no secret that the market in Toronto is way larger for hockey than it is in Raleigh, so logically it would make sense endorsement wise to stay in Toronto.
The cost of living + the weather here is a major perk though.</div></div>
Id also assume that the taxation would be better as well, you really wouldn't think that a couple thousand dollars would play a big difference when you are making mutli million but I guess to marners camp it is ….
