Got Pinned And Rebuilt The Flames
If Fletcher can move Voracek or JVR, I think they jump on that Johnny Hockey trade. Not that CGY has to take Voracek or JVR, just that one of them is moved (without needing to use their 2021 1st to do it)

I had to look at what other move was left after the moves you disagreed with 😆
I think JVR is the selection, still. Seattle has to hit the cap floor. He had a good season on a bad team, and is still a power play force. He only has 2 more years on his deal. If Seattle isn’t competitive after the first of his remaining two years, they can trade him (with retained salary) to a contender for more picks/prospects. Seattle is going to have plenty of “meh” guys to choose from, but it’ll be better for them in the long run if they’re competitive right off the hop.

I agree with JVR being exposed and selected by Seattle. He had a good year on a bad team, is still a power play presence, and only has two years left on his deal. Hello cap floor.
I don’t think that deal gets them Dumba. With the cap flexibility of other teams, like the Devils, they could eat some dead salary for Minnesota (Parise waive NTC to return to NJD?) or have more/better assets than a bust of a #2 pick.

I disagree. Jakub is 5 years younger, and his contract is for less term (2 years vs 3 for Parise). Just last year he had 43 points while Parise had a mere 18.

Domi and Mrazek
In Domi's defense, he IS on the Coyotes, who are not a very good team in general. If he was playing alongside talent like Jake, I can absolutely see him eclipsing those 13 goals. While Sandström might be the 2nd best goalie prospect in the system, he's probably not overtaking Carter Hart, and his value is still high. Would you put Sam Morin in his place?

Duclair, Emelin, Ryan, Stone
Which contract is worse, though, MacDonald's or Ryan's? I lean towards MacDonald's because the guy sees too many minutes, is terrible, and I'm tired of watching him transform himself into either a starfish or a turnstile. I agree that Ryan's contract is also pretty bad.
I think I mixed up Hoffman & Stone's contracts. Hoffman has 3yrs left on his deal, and for some reason I thought Stone's had 3yrs left on it.
For Sanheim, I just wish they'd either play the guy, or trade him for quality assets they WILL play (not like, Chris VandeVelde play). It's not good for the team, or for his development, to have him sitting the press box. It's infuriating.
I looked at the Preds roster, and they absolutely don't NEED Filppula, but his contract is expiring and the trade wouldn't cost a pick or a player that they rely on heavily. And teams are ALWAYS looking for depth. Plus, I like watching Emelin hit (which was most of the reasoning behind the trade idea anyway).

Bringing Sbisa back
It was mostly an exercise to divide minutes. I'd take Sbisa over SucMac any day, but nobody is taking on that contract.
They could try and trade Read with retained salary for an actual asset like a pick, but I'm not sure which team would do that. LVK has a glut of 3rd round draft picks, but I don't see them, nor any other team placing that value on Matt Read with retained salary.
They could just demote whomever, and see who gets picked up on waivers. Laughton certainly would. Read, Lehtera, Weise? Not at their salary or term.
Is a guy like Lindblom a 3rd line guy, or does he (like Weal and Konecny) project to be a top 6 player getting top-6 minutes and offensive opportunities? Why squeeze him into a role he won't excel at? Again, I'm not sure what his projection is, but people are splooshing left and right over him, which is not what fans tend to do for guys who's potential is 3rd line winger (oh, hello Matt Read).
As for the rest of the defense... it's pretty clear Provorov is their #1 D. Gudas @ #2? Ghost #3? SucMac is also #2 (but only because in this case number two = poop) but should always be benched/in the AHL. And Brandon Manning. Adding 2 rookies to the defense should be enough to give top minutes to the best guys.
I guess I don't want Sanheim up as the #3 or #4 or #5 guy, and despite how great he looked in the AHL, there is no garuntee it'll translate to the NHL. I think it will (he and Provy and gonna be amazing to watch together) but not this season. So it's a good time to let Morin and Hagg see if their play can translate or elevate to better competition, without having to rely on either of them to anchor your top pair. IF THEY DO, then that's ******* great, but I don't think either of them is pencilled in to be a top pair guy.

Flyers Lineup 2017-18
Just seeing SucMac on that top pair makes me nauseous...not saying you are wrong because Hakstol gotta Hakstol, but it still makes me throw up in my mouth just a little.
i'm with Nate in that i'd rather Lehtera not be the 4C. All the praise Hextall heaped on Laughton, and Vecchione being waiver-exempt, I think he [Laughton] is the 4C barring him absolutely shitting the bed in training camp.
Hextall is probably holding onto bodies to make sure everyone (cough cough Nolan Patrick cough) is healthy at the start of training camp/season. If ANOTHER team suffers an unfortunate injury to a player, maybe Matt Read with salary retained could fetch a 3rd or 4th round pick.
Last note: is Lindblom a 3rd line guy or is he better off playing top minutes with the Phantoms? Doing that gives them time to see if Jordan Weal is legit in that LW1 spot, and neither Weal nor Konecny are 3rd line players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NateElder12</b></div><div>So we are trading away Schenn and the asset we received from that for an overpaid Ryan? Hard Pass. I'd rather take any prospect at that slot than have Ryan's awful contract/production on the team. I'd even take Schenn over him. Also, there is zero chance I'd retain on Read for Enstrom.</div></div>
The title remains "Just having fun". I don't believe any of these moves happen, at all. This is an exercise in time-wasting. I wouldn't mind seeing Condon in the net, though.
Little surprised there's no mention of SucMac getting demoted, because a coach who says MacDonald is a "top 3 or 4 defenseman" might not approve of that move. When a team consistently ices Chris Vandevelde, Andrew MacDonald, and PEB (who I'm a fan of even though he isn't good), then who knows what they are looking at as valuable? (Aside from knowing to hold onto young talent like Provorov, and Konecny, and letting guys marinate in the minors until Hextall feels they are ready). "Rrealistic" trade propositions with Hextall are kindof hard when he's the guy who signed Dale Weiss to that awful contract, but then absolutely scored when drafting the afore-mentioned Provorov & Konecny.

That defense is way better that what Hak was throwing out there this season. Any defense without SucMac is better. With a better defense capable of passing the puck/anticipating plays/not panicking with the puck the forwards won't be relied on as heavily as they were to help, which would hopefully free them up to have energy in the offensive zone.

they lose lyubimov, vandevelde and raffl (in the expansion draft). they want Laughton to be a center, but he's better on the wing. is he having a bad season in Lehigh? i can see him getting called up ahead of Leier. The raise is only a slight bump into 'Ryan White' money.

Vegas Golden Knights (I know they won't actually get Murray)
Why would they not get Murray? Unless his play falls off a cliff, he'd be the goalie to take. Stanley Cup winner, young, cost controlled... I can see Pittsburgh asking MAF to waive his NTC, and even though all reports of him say what a great guy & team player Flower is, his best chance to win another Stanley Cup is with PIT and it seems unrealistic to expect he'd waive it to go to some mystery contender or Las Vegas.

I used the "quick protect" to select protected players. This roster may need a couple older guys, but Joel ward, Alexei emelin, and even Tyler Myers could fill the roles of veteran presence, with a guy like Marcus Kruger imparting some knowledge about what it takes for a team to win the Stanley Cup.

this roster is pure fantasy. sure, johnny hockey is elite, but he's also tiny and has only played 2 seasons. part of the reason this is pure fantasy is b/c i can't see Hextall letting an anomaly of a season for the 6'2" 215lb possession monster that is jake voracek trick him into trading him. in no fantasy is Hextall parting with Ivan Provorov. it also makes no sense to trade a cost-controlled, big-bodied, fan-favorite, power-play specialist like Wayne Simmonds.

thanks for the feedback, man.
i put that read trade in to free up cap space next season b/c burrows will be UFA at season's end. pretty sure they are gonna to keep laughton on the wing (broad street hockey did a write up of that, i think) as he is a defensive liability, and showed potential when moved to the wing towards the end/middle of last season. i feel like i also read that weise will be the 3rd line RW, partially b/c it'd be tough to justify playing a recently signed guy $2.3mil 4th line minutes. -partly tried to plan for the expansion draft, too. they'll expose weise, but of raffle/cousins/laughton their play this season will help Hexy decide who gets protected.
