Historically, a 1st + 2nd/3rd has been the price for an equivalent salaried goalie swap with an imbalance.

This is valid. I thought the Blues want a bit more depth (also Boeser is part retained), but if not completely understandable.

Meier is on an expiring contract and so far hasn't shown signs of resigning- that significantly drops his value. Tatar can replace him for this season, which improves their lottery odds and brings a veteran in. Historically, the price for a high-skill winger rental (Meier) has been a mid-tier roster replacement, a first, and a second. This is in line with that.

Maybe not from the senators, I was just looking at who needs a defensive winger and from what I saw the Sens need that. But I do think he's worth a first, maybe with a 3rd added from the kings. Maybe just not the Sens first and a mid-1st instead.
