toffoli doesn't have that type of value.
prospect swap is fair but the avs need center prospects and really don't need ld prospects.

I played around with something similar. Stars aren’t trading Radek PPG Faksa right now. I think I had Marner and Gren for Rads, Klinger, Dell, and a third round pick. With like $270k retention on Marner to make the cap work. Lol. Not sure how I feel about it long term for Toronto but I like it on the Dallas side

I love Rielly, but age catches up to everyone. What happens to his game once he's a step slower? When he can't just beat his man up the ice and gain the zone, or he cant out skate his mistakes.
How many high paid long term deals that start when the player is 28/29 end up looking good in 3 or 4 years.
Do you really think that Hyman deal is going to look good 3 years from now? Again I loved the guy, but how does his playoff track record look? Would he all of the sudden become Justin William's when he's 30?</div></div>
I see your point. But I still think there are better values out there for 12m than Marner at 11m

I say it's pretty hard to find two players who aren't on massive steals who perform at the same level as Marner does.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mvp13</b></div><div>As a sub DAL fan, this is actually fairly interesting. A lot of expiring contracts on either side, with the only staying pieces being Faksa for TOR and Marner/Kerfoot for DAL. I can see DAL doing this if they're completely out of the playoff picture, but it does handcuff them pretty good on the defensive side for the current year.
On the TOR side... I don't know. I think they would need some reassurance they would be able to keep any of these guys. But at the current cap, and their likely demands for the new contracts (Klingberg wants and will get 8million from someone, for example), I don't really see it happening. Maybe you keep Klingberg, but lose Reilly? Is that really beneficial for TOR? I don't know.
Overall, it's a bit more interesting after the initial look. I think it really depends on playoff picture and extension talks with all the expiring contracts</div></div>
Actually from my POV of Leaf fan, I kinda like the idea of the expiring contracts. Leafs rid themselves of 11m Marner, 3.5m Kerfoot, 1m Liljegren, in 22/23 , have Faska and Dallandrea at a combined 4m, and than have 12m more in cap space with the trade. Even in 21/22, the Leafs might be better on the ice with the trade.

I'd look at him the same as i did Frolik last year
There for injuries and road trips at worst
At best he make a go of it as a 4th line Center in a Matt Cullen 800-1000 faceoffs a year situation
TBH though we already got Perrault for that
He's not as good at faceoffs at Zajac given its been like 3-4 years since he played Center
But during Injuries he'll likely earn some ice time that way

All the more reason why Beagle will remain with Arizona until his contract is over. Beagle @ 3M is not worth anything. Not even free in waivers.

Swapping Ilya for Lehk is a good move for them longer term, and Kulak can always be traded for a pick at the TDL.
Habs needs are addressed (4C/3rd pairing defensive RD)</div></div>
Lyubushkin is UFA too. Swapping him for Kulak is useless for them.
MTL could get Beagle for cheaper than Lehkonen. A 3rd/5th pick should do it based on performence and salary retained.

I get what you are trying to do, needs are adressed from MTL side. But Arizona would get a better return trading those UFAs at TDL for futures. IMO they decline.

I would rather stick needles in my eyes than add Beagle for anything less than him at 50% retained for a conditional 7th round pick in 2027. Im pretty sure Beagle would be on waivers this year if it weren't for the fact that Arizona needs players with cap on the team to be compliant.
This is a bad trade for Montreal. It would make more sense to trade Lehky and Kulak individually for picks and sign a UFA like Bozak instead.

CYA KK AND HELLO DUTCH KNEES
What's the incentive here for a rebuilding team (Nashville)?
Trading a young dman who played in the top 4 last season and at times as the #1 RHD.
Trading what is bound to be an early 1st.... have you seen our roster?
All this to get rid of a contract which we have tons of capspace to handle?

I think teams would be willing to take that contract from NSH for this package. There's no way they send Carrier, a 1st (which could be early), and a 3rd to dump Duchene. Then asking them to take back even more money is just not gonna happen.

Your line makeup doesn't jive with your description, you say line 2 is a defensive line but you have 2 of our worst defensive wingers together on that line in Drouin and Hoffman. I would rather split those 2 up and run.
Toffoli/Drouin-Suzuki-Caufield
Hoffman-Kotkaniemi-Gallagher
Drouin-Paquette/Poehling/New Center-Anderson
Lehkonen-Evans-Armia
Toffoli with Zuke and Caufield worked well in the playoffs, so they stay together but an alternate version would be to put Dru there as a playmaker for a speedier line with loads of offensive talent when we need a goal. KK gets a shooter for the first time to bury his many many many missed setups over the past 3 seasons. How many times did we see KK set up Armia, Lehkonen or Byron ect. Just to have them miss the net or shoot right at the goalie?! Drouin and Anderson worked well to start last season before Drouin got hurt so let's reunite them and either give Poehling a shot at running a speedy crash and bang scoring line or bring in another more offensive center or allow Paquette to run this line. Evans with Lehkonen and Armia would give the opposing teams fits trying to get the puck away from them. Plus they all have decent scoring ability and excellent shutdown ability. This is our shutdown line. Line 1 would likely chip in 85ish goals (maybe a bit high but not unrealistic IMO) a season, Line 2 80ish goals, Line 3 maybe 60ish goals and Line 4 maybe 40 goals in the season. This gives the Habs approximately 265 goals in the season or 3.25 goals per game average (I am trying to be conservative). That would put us in the Toronto, Edmonton, Tampa scoring range from this past season. We might not have the top end talent of those teams but our scoring is spread out acrossed all 4 lines compared to the others who rely heavily on their top 2 lines to do the scoring.

That doesn't make sense. Who's playing 2nd line minutes, Cizikas or kk. Because if it's Casey you're not going anywhere. Speaking of which, Cizikas at 3C is less than ideal.
