<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>Comparing a number 1 Dman in Lindholm to a number 1 Dman in Jones is terrible?
Lindholm is much closer to Jones than Muzzin.
Play style when looking at #1 defenseman doesnt alter the value that much.
Saying those trades dont affect Lindholms value is an insane concept to me, all had one year left, all were on basement teams, all were the number one Dman on their teams?
They have more in common than not in common
Not sure what makes that comparison terrible but glad to see you're in a good mood this morning :tearsofjoy
Have a good day!</div></div>
Ah yes! The guy who has a career high of 34 points (which was 7 seasons ago btw), and is coming off missing almost 70% of last season due to injury is most certainly worth the same same as the 2 other main defenceman that got traded just because they all had 1 year left on their deal. Great logic!
Try not being bias. Lindholm doesn't carry that much value, and just because he's a #1 d-man on Anaheim doesn't mean he's a #1. I can name 32 defenceman of the top of my head that are better than him, so how is he a #1 if he can't even be ranked within the top defenders of the league? Just because he plays top minutes on a terrible Anaheim defence? That's not how it works.
But have fun waiting for 2 firsts and a top prospect! You're gonna be highly disappointed when Anaheim doesn't get anywhere near that kind of offer!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chooch</b></div><div>Salary Blues take back they want gone after this year. They are making big push for Matthew Tkachuk next year. Bailey is good player but they don’t want for 3 more years.</div></div>
He made more sense for them before they signed Saad. Leo/Hickey seem like reasonable salary dumps on 1 year deals but it’s such a risk for the Isles to take on VT’s salary next year if he isn’t the same player pre surgery or gets hurt. I’m leaning on passing on him.

That trade doesn’t get it done imo idk what it would look like but would be shocked at a straight swap there.. I thought the buyout window was only if they actually go to arbitration or if the team files? Could be wrong there I don’t remember the full details I do believe beau probably has a deal done and also believe sorokin is close but based on his interview today not done

Agree on the Murray front. I guess I could remove Leo and send him elsewhere, but STL prob doesn't get a 1st in that case. I incorporated that into the price

hopefully, they find a taker that gives STL what they want but they are not in a good situation.</div></div>

There is absolutely nothing in that offer to make the Blues part with Tank, let alone with retention.

What a bad deal for Ottawa. Varly is better than Murray, but Murray isn't going anywhere, and adding another goalie doesn't really make any sense for Ottawa at this stage.

Even for guys who have performed.</div></div>
This is not a cap dup Varlamov put up vezina caliber numbers this year, he has two more years on his contract. If the isles don't want to move him they can move Leddy. Varlamov true value is worth a low end first but because there are so many goalies on the open market I lowered it to a second, I also put a third to replace a B prospect. The oilers help is not necessary and all the agms made on Varlamov in the past agree that his value is between a first and one second.

Costs $666,667 per year for 2 years to get a free 2nd rd pick. Buy him out. Take the pick. Any team with 1.666667 cap space, Ottawa should be one of them, makes that deal.

The Islanders can afford Varlomov at his cap hit. Pretty easily they wouldn't sign Bernier (Saving them 2.5 Mill) and they would sign Sorokin for a shorter term and lesser money (3x3.5). Idk Smith, Koskinen, Stalock don't seem to be cutting it in the net for the Oilers.

Garland
I think you're overboard on Garland -- way, way overboard. Bellows, Wilde and the first should be quite enough.
Note that Arizona has a place open on their protected list for a defenseman -- they might prefer Mayfield, for that weird reason.

That kind of move for the islanders, all of those high pieces for 1 player is not their move.
I'm not against making a big move. I'm not against trading picks or prospects, just not everything you have to move for 1 player.</div></div>
I still think it’s worth it because we’re not giving up Dobson, wahlstrom, beau or sorokin. It is highly unlikely those picks turn out to be better than garland and we’d lock him up long term. I’m not a fan of giving up picks + prospects for forsberg because he’s only signed for another year and he’ll likely walk, but garland is a star and he’s still young.

I'm pretty sure we're going to try very hard to sign him to a new contract before the trade deadline. If we have to move him, I think his value is a late first, or an early second plus a prospect.

The sense I've gotten from both the media and Kings fans is that he'll be back next season. Whether that's after a trade or not I'm not sure.
He's a pretty good complimentary piece for a top 6, so maybe look to the Dzingel trade from a couple years back or maybe, just maybe, a late 1st? Kinda hard to put a finger on it, but I think he's about as good as Dzingel was and I thought he was worth a 1st back then
