I'm so lost on Mangiapane's value. I was along this line of thought too but I just couldn't put it together.

Even just look at the NHL expectancy, start of the year he was ranked top ten in the Stars system.
Not in a Tanev deal he can't unless you're adding Calgary's 2024 picks which would be weird asset management.

I like Dellandrea but not Stranges. Would prefer to Target Bourque even if we have to add or take a bad contract back (Dadonov or Faksa), otherwise better DAL Targets are Arcuri, Gavin White, Feharas or Minnetian instead of Stranges, who isn’t any better than Rory Kerins</div></div>
Bourque is a pipedream that only comes with Hanifin retained, possibly sending assets back and an extension. Stranges and Kerins aren't the same.. Kerins is near or at his ceiling, Stranges is an elite skater with every tool you're looking for in a prospect just waiting for him to put it together.

Can't see Vegas trading for Hanifin, they want to add a forward</div></div>
I think Hanifin is a good target for Vegas with Martinez departing but maybe they take a run in the off season. The closer we get to the deadline the less optimistic I am about Tanev and a 1st. I think they Flames target a guy to slide into the roster right away and maybe a lower pick. I hope you're right though.

Crazy how different deadline conversations would be if Muzzin was healthy. Always like watching him and hated when he was on the Kings.

Hanifin trade starts with Holloway and a 1st and goes from there. Similar to the Leafs I don't think the Oilers have the pipeline or pieces they'd be willing to move to make a deal for Hanifin. Tanev as a target retained would be a 1st from the Oilers.

I would do some filthy things to get Casey.

All of which came in a small stretch of games and then he returned to exactly who is and has continued that trend this season. Of his 12 assists last seasons 5 were 2nd assists, similar this year in that 2 of his 5 ar 2nd assists. If they're able to bury him then why don't the Leafs just do that? Flames acquire him just to bury him and run him through waivers?? Seems backwards no?
He gets the highest offensive deployment of active Leafs d men against by far the worst competition of active Leafs players. He's given sweet heart situations and still is replacement level at best.

Replacing Siegenthaler with Tanev is a lateral move, I think Tanev is the better player but losing a lock down defenseman with term for a rental doesn't make sense to me.
If the Devils wanted both players, Casey is a good piece, Stillman is a good piece and the rest outside of the roster players is quantity over quality.
Hanifin & Tanev
for
Casey, Stillman, Bahl, 2025 1st, prospects.
But then you run into the cap. It's going to be borderline impossible for a team to meet Conroy's asking price for both guys in one deal.

Back to Timmins is terrible, with term and takes a roster spot that they can fill with close to anyone else. If the deal on the table was a player and a 1st for Tanev retained they will find nearly 30 offers with a more serviceable palyer.

Knies and a 1st would be a kicking off point but I see no world the Leafs are ready to give up cost controlled forwards. Hence they don't have the pieces they'd be willing to move. Minten and Cowan are marginally interesting.

Kadri has been the better player this year and has been the best C on the team while playing with two rookies. You're either paying the 1st or Minten for 5 years of retention then the other of the two to get $11M off your books because Calgary has no need for Tavares at this point. So you're left with Tanev for a 5th. It doesn't make sense as a fit for Calgary and it's not enough value for Calgary to take on the financial burden.

Flames Deadline
I hope they value players more than picks. If they have to get picks that are in the 2025/2026/2027 draft to up the value of the prospects they're getting then fine. Those 1st round picks down the road become trade chips if the Flames are competitive or draft picks if they're not.

If he signed the 7.5M deal in Calgary his take home would be $3,937,568 per year if he signed $6M in Tampa his take home is $3,819,668 per year. There are obviously other factors but the guy isn't going to take a sweet heart deal just for the sake of it. He has one of the best agents in the game and he's one of the top D men on the market.

The Flames get nothing they need in that deal. Robertson and Laggeson are more of the same, Jarnkrok is older and locked in with term that Calgary doesn't need and Timmins is awful. They're getting an impact deal if they move Andersson

I can't imagine you think a team is interested in taking on Timmins for another year. If the deal on the table was a player a 2nd and a 3rd then Calgary can find way better value while getting those pieces elsewhere.

Four Hanifin Offers
That New Jersey deal is easily my favourite. Bahl steps in now for a D core that's being dismantled and Casey's ceiling is crazy. It fits what the Flames need big time as they have a ton of high floor/low ceiling guys in the pipeline. That being said, I doubt the Flames are pulling a 1st and Casey in a deal without sending a pick of some sort back,.

Average age of the Sharks D without Vlasic is like 24-25, why would they bring in Ceci to back log the young kids when they're not really looking to win games? Ceci isn't really the guy that I would want mentoring young D men either. Moving Ceci benefits Edmonton more than any team acquiring him.

I think it will be Calgary's pick next year unfortunately. I think that if Calgary is in the top 10 of the draft next season it will be the Florida pick, if they're between 11-32 it's the better of the 2 picks. Worst case scenario is Calgary finishing with the 11th overall pick. That could be wildly wrong though.

Have you looked at the Monahan pick?? I still don't understand it half the time. Treliving was trying to be the smartest guy in the room with conditions while sending a1st round pick with a guy who just got was traded for a 1st round pick.
