Haha. Saw the Eriksson plus a 2nd and thought: this can’t be made by a wings fan. Turns out it’s just a very hopeful Canucks fan trying to sneak this in there. Well you got caught.

staal is still a good penalty killer and was kinda our captain. he is a solid 3rd pairing dman at this stage of his career.

it hasn't been said yet if the wings are going to buy out staal or staal agreed to play the season with the wings. still a lot of moving parts here. he had a nmc.

First off it’s 2021 so draft order is obviously not set. And 2nd of all, if it was 2020 draft order goes back to by points in the 2nd round so it would have been somewhere around 45 or so. But yOu dO yOu...

Weaponizing cap space
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dca919</b></div><div>You also forgot a RHD--Lindstrom. Regula trade was a gamble that Yzerman lost on.
If Madison Bowey gets a 3 year contract, Yzerman will immediately become a worse GM than Holland and I will stop watching for 2 years.
Weaponizing cap space then proceeds to deal with teams with cap room? No that's not weaponizing cap space. Weaponizing cap space means something like offer sheet to Tampa's Sergachev at 2nd round level (2x $4,363,095), St. Louis' Dunn. I doubt they sign those, but it poisons the well of their teams making low-ball offers and might set in motion the ability to extract another player from them. You could certainly do it with Cirelli though.
Otherwise weaponizing cap space means you are acquiring a bad contract plus a 1st rounder. Not having to give up 2x 2nd plus a 3rd line player.</div></div>
I’d consider this offseason a fail if Yzerman isn’t able to leverage teams with our cap space. Whether that means acquiring premium picks (first or second rounders) or young players in exchange for cap dumps (eg Teravainen/Bickell). I really hope Chris Illitch doesn’t restrict Yzerman with an internal budget.

Next Year with Rossi - Realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wingss</b></div><div>That's exactly why I signed TVR. There's going to be injuries, that's when we slot in Bowey and bring up Lindstrom. I would let Lindstrom play top minutes in the AHL for a year or until someone gets injured and then call him up full time, kinda like Hronek last year except on a smaller scale. It never hurts to sign another dman.</div></div>
I just look at the ld and get worried. I want edmundson personally but scandella or dillion, someone who can play big minutes and bring a little leadership back there.

Signings look about right, I'd be ecstatic with either one of Byfield, Stutzle or Rossi if we strike out on Alexis Lafreniere.

Stutzle will play another year in the DEL, Byfield and Rossi another year junior. But sure one of these player will be a nice addtition for the rebuild

If We Had Hit On The 2015 and 2017 Drafts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wingss</b></div><div>Yea, but in the top 10 you've gotta do better than for sure NHLer IMO, you've just gotta. With all these advanced statics and how far scouting has come, you've can't afford to mess these high picks up. I like Ras and he's having a pretty good 2nd year pro so there's reasons to be hopeful but I don't think he'll ever live up to 9th overall.</div></div>
Look at the drafts, unless its a ridiculously good draft, their are usually around 3 or 4 players picked in the top 10 that don't end up being studs but just end up being decent NHLers. Ras might not be the 2C guy we need but he still has a chance to be a very good piece for us down the road. That 2017 draft is pretty bad, I mean look at who went 1 and 2. Id be way more pissed if I was NJ or PHI to be honest, but thats just shows you how unpredictable the draft can be.

Not a Wings fan obviously, but I think they are going to get a great player in June that springboards the rebuild (captain obvious I know).
From the outside, I see C as the biggest weakness and the chances are that will be addressed with the top 4 pick they get. I'm sure it would be disappointing for Wings fans to miss out on Lafreniere, but IMO Mantha, Zadina and Bertuzzi aren't bad top 6 wingers to have. I think if they could get a Byfield, Rossi, or Stutzle. It gives them potentially two solid C for down the road.
It looks bleak, but things will turn for DET, especially with Yzerman at the helm, whom IMO is the games best GM

Yeah. Good news is the Wings look like they're set to draft a gem in the 1st round this year. (Being Lafreniere, Byfield, Stuetzle or whoever goes 4th, who will most likely end up as a top NHLer)

That Svechnikov pick is rough. And while the Rasmussen pick may not have been the best, at least you got a for sure NHLer.

Final 18 Games
I don’t think there is enough room for all of Perlini, Erne, and Tima. I’m curious to see if one or two of them get flipped at the draft for more picks. Seider should def get a call up (especially now with Hronek still out) but I’m not sure if Veleno does. I’d like to see Ras get a few games at the NHL level playing Center as well. But like you said, GR is in a playoff race and I’d like to see them playing meaningful games post season down there.
