Froliking to Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Westerner</b></div><div>Why is everyone so stuck on Czarnik here, you do see the 1st rounder and Bennett in this trade, no? If this is so incredibly horrible then why don't you respectfully suggest an alternative instead of pretending you are an actual GM, or so deeply knowledgable that you focus on the minor part of the deal, a throw in if you will. Mantha is a UFA after this year, and is going to get a raise, getting Bennett and 1st does not seem that far fetched for a potential rental that may go elsewhere at seasons end. Take it easy, have a drink or something and re-evaluate how important you really are.</div></div>
Mantha is far and away Detroit's most talented player and at 25yrs old a 30yr old Bennett and most likely a player projected to go in the last 5 or 6 spots of the 1st round don't equal Mantha. Mantha is an RFA at the end of this year because he is 25 and in his 4th season. Detroit will have plenty to resign him with because not resigning Green, Daley and Ericsson frees up about $12.8M.

Crazy ridiculous but hes going east in a couple yrs anyway
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>So they're dumb. Got it.
Fans always underrate offensive players if they're not gritty enough for them.
Kessel was hated by much if Leafs nation through his career in TO and was sold for pennies on the dollar because "you can't win with him". But it's nonsense. He is one of the best offensive players of his generation. It's just extremely hard to build around wingers. Kessel has always just been Kane without Toews</div></div>
Its not grit, its not playing with an edge, its his compete level and leadership when the games mean the most. Avs completely shut him down and made him irrelevant bc he's easy to game plan against. Instead of fighting through It, changing things up, etc, He basically just quit.
Thats what fans in Calgary worry about, if hes your best player and most important, you can't have a guy with that sort of mentality

The idea that Philadelphia would pay more than Travis Konecny and a first for Johnny Gaudreau seems laughable to me.

My fears come true
As the great Emperor Palpatine would say "Do it". I dream of what those first rounders could turn in to if Ottawa is garbage for all of those years, but I also dream of having our own Sedin twins. It kills the dream a bit that they aren't the Sedins and they aren't twins but damn do I ever want to see Brady and Matthew play together. Toss White or Brown in the middle of those two... :hearteyes

Mete-Weber (mentorship plus playmaker and goal scorer combo's always nice)
Brodie-Petry (they'll get top PP and PK and average 22-24 minutes )
Chariot-Juulsen (hard hitting and good for tons of shot blocks )

Flames Opening Night
I definitely see what you're going for here.
Brodie and Frolik are 98% on their way out soon as Tre finds the right deal. I'm less and less convinced that Hamonic is on the block. I think they might have been considering it to see what the market is but at the end of the day we'd need to resign or trade for a guy like him anyway. Brodie and Frolik would give us the space to sign the remaining RFAs, Andersson/Valimaki/Kylington are ready to step up, and Stone can be the 6/7th guy and play out the last year of this contract if a buyout isn't feasible or a trade doesn't work out.

That is a bad trade for Calgary.
I'm not convinced Hall is better and if he is it isn't that significant. Meanwhile Gaudreau is young and locked into a good contract for the next three years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeastModeUnknown</b></div><div>If you add instead of NJD adding I think they would take it. Hall was a former MVP and still performing at a high standard. For Gaudreau he kind of fell off back end of the season.</div></div>
Theres an argument to be made that Gaudreau would do a lot better in the East where the only heavy teams are Boston and Washington
55 points against Western teams in 50 games (1.1 PPG)
44 points against Eastern teams in 32 games (1.375 PPG)

Trade, Sign, Demote..Check. Playoffs here we come
Westerner: That's why trades are so difficult. In most cases teams have to take similar money back in a trade due to cap implications. And a team that might have cap space have lots of choices without necessarily giving up much in assets.
Some teams, and a lot of folks this site seem to think that RFAs should be getting UFA money and term. Well in some cases it's justified, but it seems to be that there are going to a lot 6m contracts on teams and a lot 1m contracts. If Gaudreau makes 7.25m, Monahan 6.5m, what might McDavid get in the summer 2018?

Shero and Co. and pretty high on Santini. I don't think he would be moved currently for anything but overpayment, and other teams have no reason to do so based on 1 game played in the NHL.
They have turned this place around in a much shorter time than any Devs fan could have imagined. Still work to do but it wont be as long as we all thought

The Coyotes bought out veteran centre Vermette. Doubt if they would want Stajan at 2m. Plenty "Stajans" around cheaper and not giving a 3rd rounder.
Wideman does have value. But doubt if NJ would give a up promising youngster, Santina. If NJ wants a Dman, there are others via free agency or from teams that want to offload contracts without NJD giving up assets.

2017/18 Opening Night Roster Just for fun.
Wow... That's a lot of trades???? Some ??? that come to mind....
Trade McDonald or Gillies.... we will want to keep the better of 2 unless Elliot can be a long term solution - he can probably earn that....
Monny and Johnny both on 5 year agreements is a bad move - either resign both on 3/4 year agreements so they renew as RFA or long term 7-8 years to maximize their retention...
Other than these items I really don't mind where you are going... Trading Backs and Frolik as a team will defiantly up their value due to instant line chemistry....
Only thing you did not account for is "who" will the flames loose in the expansion draft???????
Go Flames Go!!!!

Trade, Draft, UFA, Prospects. Possible 2016 Opening Night Roster
I have no need for Martenet. He is slow, he lacks skills, and in today's NHL his size is meaningless. Logan Stanley who is more offensively gifted, faster, and stronger than Martenet has already been severely criticized for being selected so early, and he at best will probably only be a number 6 Dman on a good defensive roster, so yeah we have no need for Martenet. We need to get something better if we are to retain Wideman.

Not retaining Wideman for that package is fine.</i></div></div>
For that package I would eat 50% of Wides cap hit!.... shhhh don't tell anyone!!! LOL
That being said Wides has value but only for the right team... A team that has little to on Blue Line PP presents...
And that has some cap space and the open roster spot... The list is short but Vancouver / the Devils / and Rangers could all really use him...
The big ??? is what teams are on his submitted list??? It would be very easy for him to turn in a list that kills any possibility of a trade???
