Just because he is overrated doesn't mean he sucks. He's only 30 years old and can probably play on a top line for the next few years. He might not be able to carry a rebuilding team but he can definitely be the firsts/second best defence-man on a winning one.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>the johnsson trade is fine the others are the concern why are we trading campbell and Kapenan when they are doing well.</div></div>
They don't under the cap thats the issue. Try making this roster in 2021-2022 and you'll find yourself in the same position where you'll have to lose players you don't want to. I'd rather not trade them but because of the extensions to Anderson and Hyman (which is what i think are their fair values) you're forced to make some tough choices.
It's hard to say this player will and won't be here 2 years from. For example, you say Anderson probably won't be here yet you never mentioned his replacement? Will there even be a goalie available via trade or FA that makes sense for the team? Maybe and maybe not. Regardless they'll most likely be paying 2 goalies roughly the amount I allocated. If they can find a suitable replacement (or him) on a cheaper deal than of course you keep Campbell.
Same for Kapanen. A third line player that can move up and down the lineup and play on the PK for $3.2M. While Engvall and Mikheyev do the exact same thing and the sum of their contracts almost equals Kapanen's. Would I keep him if I could? Sure, but on a per dollar basis I'd rather have other players.

Petan, Aberg lol those are AHL players. Aberg was on the Oilers and he sucked. Petan not one NHL team wanted him when he was on waivers, he is 25 years old already and will be playing beer league hockey in the next 2 years. Broberg is going back to Sweden for another year according to Holland, than a year or 2 in the AHL, maybe more if Holland does what he does.
Granlund is a player who I would go after if I am Oilers for my 3rd line, just not as a Centerman, I would go after Soderberg or Haula</div></div>
Aberg hasn't played on the oilers in 3 years so, you should probably watch him a little more. Himself and Petan (Best ppg in AHL) are probably 2 of the top forwards in the AHL which isn't something to take lightly. Most execs say the difference between the bottom 6 forwards in the NHL and top forwards in the AHL isn't much. Toss Petan on McDavid's line and his probably putting up close to 40-50 points.
You are looking in to the lines a little too much. You can shift Grandlund around the lineup but, I don't think he'd have trouble playing 3C the odd time - they already have McDavid. Drisital and Hopkins so, they really don't even need a centre. I thought he could bring some extra value in case of injuries.
Wasn't too sure where Broberg was in his development but thats good to know. I was a little high on him I guess.

Skinner not ready and never will be
Broberg is playing in Sweden next year and is at least 2 to 4 years away
Aberg is not good enough to make this team anymore
The first line is in trouble if we are going into a whole season like that.</div></div>
Grandlund played a decent amount of second line centre throughout his career so, i think he can fit in at 3C which is why I put him there.
You clearly haven't watched Petan and Aberg play in the last few years. They're both bottom 6 NHL caliber players but they just haven't had the right opportunity.
Skinner was a filler to make the cap compliant however, I think they can still make this team fit under the cap.
Keep in mind this is 2 years from now so, I think Broberg would be ready by then.
And you're worried about the first line? McDavid was on pace to hit 100 points while playing with Zack Kassian (a 4th line winger on most teams) for a lot of the year so, I wouldn't be too worried about that line producing. They would also have options to shift the lineup around

That's fair. I'd probably offer him around 9. I think if the cap was going to go up as planned he'd easily get $10M from some team but maybe not anymore

Bergeron is not a P/GP player and past his prime
Marchand has been a P/GP player for the last 4 years, so I'd call that consistent
Pasta has been a P/GP player the last 3 seasons and is close to a P/GP for his career
Marner a p/gp player in the last 2 of 4 seasons (close)
Guys like Crosby, Geno and Ovie are consistent P/GP players.</div></div>
So they're like what, 5 consistent ppg players in the league right now lol You're talking about a totally different level of skill. The players I mention is where I see Hall roughly at which is why I can see him getting up to $10M. Those guys would be around McDavid's salary

Anaheim Ducks - Taylor Hall Signing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>You seem to misunderstand the term "replace." "Replace" means that they're added to the team when two other guys are sent away. When you send away Heinen and Rowney, and Hawryluk and Zykov are added to the team, then Hawryluk and Zykov are replacing Heinen and Rowney. Jones and Terry don't replace Heinen and Rowney, they play on different lines and all four are eminently capable NHLers, while Hawryluk and Zykov have proven that they are not. In short, you are trading away two players and adding two players whom you admit "<strong>can</strong> prove themselves on the fourth line." We're not interested in experimenting with guys who "can" prove themselves capable NHLers; we've got guys who have already proven that. And by the way, DesLauriers plays exclusively on LW and Sherwood will never play a minute at center on the Ducks.
Since you display a certain unfamiliarity with our team, here's how we currently line up:
Rakell-Henrique-Silfverberg
Milano-Getzlaf-Heinen
Jones-Steel-Terry
DesLauriers-Backes-Rowney
You should also know that management has an internal cap that is lower than $81.5 million.</div></div>
You forgot to include Taylor Hall in your lineup ...
One of those top 9 need play on the 4th line and those contracts don't fit under the cap with Taylor Hall on the roster. So you'd probably have to trade someone like hmmm Rowney and Heinen to make him fit. Crazy
This is about the way I'd construct the team with a Taylor Hall signing as mentioned in the title of my team.
Zykov and Hawryluk help keep the team stay under the cap and can play in 4th lines roles. As they're on the 4th line.
BTW you can see how every team lines up here <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/anaheim-ducks/line-combinations/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/anaheim-ducks/line-combinations/</a> :)

Both those players are low risk contracts saving about $2M for cap space (allocated to Taylor) Hall) who can prove themselves on the 4th line against other 4th line caliber players. Still have the opportunity they can grow and have shown they're at the minimum "NHLers"

Probably have a top 10 D core in the league when healthy. A top 5 goalie and at least an above average forward core. Not sure how you see this team as "rebuilding" .
