Toronto Maple Leafs 2020-2021 - Robertson Makes the team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Halla</b></div><div>the kid had 55g/86pts in 46 games..how is he not ready? lol.
His 68 game pace was 82g/127pts... Pretty good comparable to another 2nd rd pick in DeBrincat who had 65g/127pts his draft+1..and he had 28g/52pts as a rookie then 41g/76pts year 2</div></div>
I'm hopeful for the kid, but he's like 5 days away from being eligible for this 2020 draft. He only turns 19 on Sep. 11. If he was in this draft and taken 10th OV hypothetically, how many 5'9 165lb 10th OV players make the NHL out of the draft?
Your Debrincat example. He was 3 months away from turning 20 in Sept 2017 the year that he made the NHL.
When you are talking about 19 yo that 8/9 months makes a pretty big difference, especially when you are talking about players that are not 100% physically mature.
Additionally, until some moves are made, it's not like it will be easy for him to steal someone's job next season. Nylander is on record now preferring LW, Hyman, AJ (he'll be healthy in Sep), Mikheyev, Engvall even Agostino is a LW option as he was the Marlies best player the last few months of the season. No guarantee Robertson would be more effective then any of these guys next season.

Robertson aint ready for the NHL he is probably going to Liga for 2020. Also for 2 years to expensive for Mikeyv (1.5-1.85 would be what Dubas would probs pay). And Johnsson will be back in september so Dubas probs moves him at the draft.

Robertson has mentality to make the team and be great mid-6 addition right away. He does not have mentality of 18yo kid, which helps.
Whether or not he will would be determinded at training camp. Nothing is sure.

Montreal or NYI may be better destinations for a guy like Johnsson. Edmonton is right up against it. I doubt that's work without any money leaving town.

Hanks 8.5m buyout will be a freebie cause of the Covid19 and Smith 4.3m buyout will be a reg one which is only 2.7m next year and 780k the following year which is no big deal while Staal played great this year and we have no problem keeping him for another year of trade him at the deadline.

No way Batherson doesn't make the team full time, and I'd rather Norris or Brown as 3C than Chlappie. Love Chlapik, but he's a 4th liner. I wouldn't have Hawryluk in the lineup, and I'd rather give a younger guy like Balcers 3rd line minutes than Steen.

More common (and more realistic) Smith trade dumps are like: 3rd and 7th and Smith for a 5th
I dont get the Steen trade, and you didnt explain it at all
Also, not chance of CBO Ryan.

Just keep byron over signing Brodie. Byron is actually good that trade makes no sense.
Romanov? kovalchuk? Poehling over evans as 4c?
Is like to think we could do a bit better with the Domi and mete deals.

Nah he’ll get a similar deal to Perry this year. If my thinking is correct, he’s eligible for the bonus contract clause. 35+ and missed the certain percentage of games. I’d bet he gets 1-2M with bonus’s based on number of games and playoff success if he goes to a contender.

Length of contract aside if you wanted to show Mcdavid that you are serious about winning a Stanley Cup in the next 5 years you absolutely take that deal. Not one player in that deal helps you win a a cup, Doughty would definitely be worth it for the oilers as they are definitely a playoff team.

Over the past 7 years (his prime years, by your own admission) Hall has averaged 22 goals and 60 points per season. You want to pay him $10M per year for 7 more years of declining production in his early- to mid-thirties? That seems I <em>little</em> high to me.

And your previous comment about Holl. He certainly wasn't the Leafs worse RHD last year. He's fine.
I still say if the cap is 81.5, which is about 6% lower than the expected cap pre Covid, there is going to some salary cut sacross the board...of six %

I don't see why the Holl trade is necessary. In effect, you're telling us you think Marincin is a superior 7th defenseman to Holl. I was under the impression that he had formed an acceptable pairing with Muzzin, even if he doesn't stay there.

Detroit Red Wings 2020-2021 Re-Build
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vido</b></div><div>They have $20M wrapped up in players that are either 4th liners, 3rd pair D man or replacement level players. They have no chance to contend even for a playoff spot for 2 years. What're the point of being a middle of the pack team for 2 years where you can push for high draft picks instead. They have tons of cap space to play if they're putting out an AHL caliber team, yes I agree with you. If they max out at the cap they have no chance in making the playoffs so, whats the point ?
Ownership wouldn't even allow the team to spend to the cap especially with the spot they're in.
Please stop commenting on posts about teams you obvious know nothing about or do better research.</div></div>
Seeing I live Herr and I have watched this team for over 30/years I know what I am talking about. Yes they have money wrapped up in players who are bottom tiered players but they had a very good run and they are rebuilding.
But some of your signings are horrible. Bowery is no where close at over 2 million, and he would never play over Dekeyser, who might not be elite but is adecent #4 defenseman, something I can not say for Bowey. They also have several players like Spider, McIssacs who will be brought along slowly but which should be better than Bowery and Cholowski. Cholowski will be probably moved this year in a package as Yzerman has asked him to do certain things which he either can not or will not. That does not bode well for his future here.
Hronek this year has proved he can be a top pairing guy.
Yzerman stated when he got here he wanted players who would hustle and give 100%, something Chucky has not at 2/of his 3 stops. Yes he's played better in Minny but the chance he faltwra is too great to take a chance on.
Demelo will stick with Jets and Soucy it OK, but nothing special.
As far as bad deals most come off this year except for Abdelkader, Nilsson and Helm and Filpula, the last being only 1 years left.
2nd line scoring with a good center, defense that can stay health and a goalie who can be futures by Bernie are the main issues. Getting Alexis Lafreniere helps but a center ice man which can feed him is essential.
With the season on hold and no word when or if the season will continue, I would rather Yzerman use his cap space to acquire players from team is cap trouble, not sign those players which are bottom of the barrell pick ups

Makes sense. Yeah any of the UFA goalies you’re looking at aren’t sure things. I was looking at Elliot or Brossoit, but neither of their stats are very good, and they could just turn into another Kinkaid. While I’m definitely interested in Bernier, I’m not thrilled to be giving up a 3rd and a 4th for him.

I’d rather just sign a UFA goalie, but on the other hand, at least Jonathan Bernier won’t carry the Red Wings to beating us 4 times next year.
Also, why on Earth are Weal and Hudon playing over Evans.
