<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Yeah I'm not sure how Giroux is worth Panarin AND 2 1st round picks. That's a bit insane.
I can see one on if he doesn't resign. But if he resigns those 2 picks, get out of here.
It's a stupid trade no matter how you look at it. It also tells you how little the poster really thinks of Giroux.
If you think he's a true 1C in this league you don't trade him. period. They are way to hard to come by.
Giroux for Loaf straight up I think CBJ would take that deal. You get the 1st if he doesn't resign. Which honestly I doubt he would.</div></div>
But i never said he was a 1C if you look at the name of the post it is getting younger, and Giroux is a LW now not a C.

This is one of the stupidest trades ive seen in a while even if you believe that Kotkaniemi is a bust you have to look at him as the value of a 3rd overall pick. Plenty of teams would give good value for him, and giving him up for this would be another in a long line of stupid trades by the habs.

I guess you have never heard of Ivan Provorov, or Rasmus Dahlin, or miro heiskanen. Poor Bruin fan getting told lies by your own media.

Getting younger
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>I'm speaking with mountains of statistical evidence. In the current era of the NHL, players have their best season around the age of 24 and stay close to that level (+/- 5%) until they hit 30 when they almost always start declining. The rate of decline varies to a degree and there are outliers. (Joe Thorton and Patrick Marleau) So could Giroux possibly improve? Of course its possible but its highly unlikely, you're asking an aging body to bounce back and perform better than it did when he was in his prime, humans don't work like that.
Last year scoring seemed to be up quite a bit league wide, and Giroux was part of that trend. I think its a huge stretch to expect him to continue to get better while his body gets creakier and creakier.</div></div>
Lol funny enough i agree with all that, the fact still remains though that Giroux changed to LW and showed that he has the ability to be a player like Thorton in terms of production at an older age not in terms of play style. You can say that Giroux is getting older so he isn't worth anything but the NHL is all about what have you done for me lately and Giroux has proved himself just as much as any other player in the NHL except of course for some crazy play by McDavid. Giroux will never be worth a trade to a Mcdavid, Matthews, and Dahlin but he still has real value in the NHL that exceeds the value of Panarin.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>He could leave for nothing? Oh my god! Well lets definitely give up 2 1st round picks and Panarin for a guy who's over 30 and will never match what he has done in the past. That right there fellas is how you build a winner. Why top at Panarin, maybe Edmonton will give you McDavid or maybe you can get Matthews, Nylander and Marner from TO?</div></div>
I dont think you read the conditions i put there, and you have no way of knowing if Giroux will regress or get better your clearly speaking without knowledge. Panarin is a great player but he has never put up the numbers Giroux has. If Panarin leaves via free agency you get nothing you logic is as flawed as the thought process of Ottawa management.

Giroux has been one of the highest point scorers in the NHL in the last 5 years, your thought process is flawed and plus your forgetting Panarin could leave Columbus for nothing.

Just because your a bruin Doesnt mean make these trades realistic. Bergeron could have at one time got that deal 5 years ago. Now he is to old for a team to mortgage that much for. And the reason no team would accept any of these trades is because of the huge amount of picks you include. That being said the bruins did trade a 3rd rounder for Zac Rinaldo so I guess they'd just waste the picks anyway.

Trading the 6 best players
Schenn may be a low end 1c but your asking for value that isn't realistic, look at what Karlsson just got you think schenn is worth that much more?! Just because they don't have a RHD doesn't mean they'll allow themselves to be screwed in a deal, they have a young team and Pietrangelo only makes them older.

The Schenn trade is a joke right? Flyers would sooner trade Giroux and Vorachek then trade away Provorov for almost anything, other then a player like Dahlin.

Let’s Completely Change The Champs
It does plenty it makes the team younger and extends the timeline for another cup run. Even if these trades are completely unrealistic. Why would Winnipeg trade 10+ years of a 40-50 goal scorer for 2-5 years of the same? The Backstrom trade would be a huge win for Edmonton, looking for a young playmaking center look at players like Barzal, or Marner.

His draft there is due to the fact that he is still putting up great numbers in the AHL and still has a very high ceiling compared to any of the players selected after him. Its my personal opinion that he is a bust so far but he has too much talent not to be an NHL caliber player in the least.

Saying they need cap space is hilarious they need to trade old players for picks, doing this deal does that as long as the Flyers retain salary as well. In no world is he worth a 1st and he would be a 2PP guy on any playoff team.
Him being at a near 50 pt year this year means nothing offense this year is spiking and point totals are inflated.

Has 24 points in 41 games with 1 more year on his contract. MacDonald has 6 points in 27 games and is terrible possession wise and has 3 years left on a bad contract. PHI would have to add a lot more to get Green.</div></div>
You and everyone else knows that there are many other defenseman more deserving than Green to be an allstar this year. His selection was purely a pick to make sure Detroit was represented.
For example a player like Mikhail Sergachev is more deserving but would not get selected due to 4 TBL players already being selected.
I will admit that the Flyers would probably retain salary but again this deal is SOLID.

You figured it out! Crosby does suck! I do hate Philly! I hate Philly and that’s why DET doesn’t do that trade! You figured it out! It’s not like it doesn’t make sense for DET at all but yay!
lol why would DET consider this even, they will get a 1st at the deadline. And they have to take on Macdonalds’s contract with only a 3rd coming back.
Think before you post.</div></div>
I do think but it doesn't seem like you don't, Mike Green is not what he used to be and will at most command a late round pick. You are foolishly basing his value on what he could do 3 years ago. MacDonald may be the joke of the NHL for his contract but he is a serviceable defenseman to a team that is rebuilding, which is what Detroit is right now.
This overall is an intelligent trade for both sides you just need to get rid of your bias to realize that.

hmm seems like a low rating just cause you hate flyers, if you pay attention to the nhl at all Green's price isnt a high pick especially with his 6 mill cap hit. Nice try though pens fan have fun with your declining Crosby.
