Absolutely agree. I just have a hard time finding that guy in this class. If you have names, I'd love to hear who you think that is available!

Like I said I also considered Haula and Barbahev but he ended up being a contract I didn't like. Ofc I like Killorn too but I think somehow TB will resign him somehow lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Farabee</b></div><div>Think a lot of people are undervaluing Cates in this thread. He is legitimately one of the best defensive centers in the NHL at age 24. Bringing up his points means nothing because that isnt why you're acquiring Noah Cates. I think a lot of people also fail to realize this was his first time ever playing C and he put up very good results and could even earn a few Selke votes.
This isn't a bad offer by any means but I doubt the Flyers move him at all unless its a humongous overpay. Torts loves him more than any player on the team and it seems like he has a pretty big say in who stays/goes. All of his teammates that have played with him have said he reminds them of a young Couturier which I'm sure also helps.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>Lot of very clear underestimation of Noah Cates in the comments here...
I don't think Philly does that. Cates put up the single best defensive 5v5 metrics in the league this year while playing Center and still put up nearly 40 points. He's an RFA controlled middle six dream for any team in the league, even though the value is fair I don't think it's reasonable to expect any of the pieces coming back to be as good as Cates likely will be in his career.</div></div>
Oh I know that's why I wanted him is bc of that defensive play and impressive with 40 points with Torts as HC. He would be a great add for all 31 other teams. Got a good one there Philly but just for ACGM stake what would your guy's opinion on what it would take for it to happen? (Regard realism for this sake)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrodeurBro30</b></div><div>I really like McLeod and he is a big part of our possession and transition game. He is our only solid right handed center (Lazar is there as well, but McLeod is nice). I'd be an idiot if I turned down the offer because it is a very good offer. I have had my eye on Nick Robertson for quite a while, especially when the Severson or Graves to TOR rumours were occuring.
The truth is the Devils are going to need a stop gap solution to fill Graves or Seversons spot and not rush Nemec. Jersey is known for being patient with our prospects and how we develop them.
Edit: Brodie is a good player. Unless your solution is the FA Market to replace him, I do not know why you would give up on him.</div></div>
Thank you for a more in depth review abt him. I really appreciate your opinion and knowing that Brods for McLeod was an overpay for the Leafs. So Nicky Rob for McLeod is more even value in your eyes if it was to every happen? Forget if yall had defensive needs etc. Just strictly 1v1?

Id rather overpay on ACGM to not get people upset. What would make it work then? And also, I also thought a swap 1v1 is more fair to and just threw in Nicky rob just to determine the value. I just think him O'Rielly and Jarnkrok would be a very good line next year. We save money and get younger who basically is the same player(Brodie and Soucy)

I think for Devils, it would be a scenario where both Graves and Severson depart, but we extend Haula for 3C and add someone for 4C. Right now, I think Haula is someone they could keep. Graves is most likely gone. Severson is really hard decision that will probably depend his next contract. He wants to stay, but also wants max term (7-8 years).
If all those line up, a McLeod-for-Dman deal seems possible.</div></div>
Cheers bud!
I think from your point of view, If I was a devils fan Id focus on getting a shutdown man for Luke Hughes and that was my thought process and think Severson isn't worth that big contract and yes Brodie has only 1yr left but don't get stuck in a long term contract that could be sketchy to give 7-8 yrs to Severson. Next years FA is supposed to be better to so can always upgrade then.

Theres more to that tho. McLeod is a very good role player and a good defensive player that has played solid. Thats the type of player I was trying to get for this. I think your underestimating his value. what would be a fair trade in your eyes?

The return is probably adequate for nashville but would necessitate a whole lot of other unnecessary moves to make things work out.</div></div>
That's fair and all of the dmen are not NHL ready and only happens if they rebuild. You get Turcotte but yeah alot of dmen. Maybe instead of Bjornfont Kupari? I also think if they rebuild they won't be keeping that dcore. I think the only safe ones are is McDoughah, Josh and maybe Foote. I think they're trading fabbro tbh. Solid dmen prospects coming in to fill the other 3 slots whenever they're NHL ready

The Kings should move one or more of: Petersen, Grundstrom, Durzi, Walker. Even at a loss, the Kings should have enough internally for a run. Getting another goaltender isn't going to be the move, we'll use Korpi as our cheap stop gap and hope Erik Portillo is our future #1.
Reup Korpisalo, if we are signing Graves at $5M, I'd rather just pay Gavrikov $5.5x3 as he is a proven commodity.</div></div>
I hear what you are saying but Ardvisson is gone after next year either way bc of the prospects coming up so Id thought to get some draft capital. As far as the Graves signing, he gives us size and strength as long with a shutdown dman that would help Clarke do his magic with the puck. I just don't think Gavrikov brings the same thing Graves would with Clarke paired with him.

Do you know what Iafallo does? Iafallo easily gets u a 1st at the TDL and I just said possibly 2. Like I also said this only happens if Nashville or Winnipeg decides to sell. Those are some VERY GOOD prospects to start the rebuild
