Eh, I think everyone's PLD hate is a bit over the top. Has he not lived up to his contract, 100%, is he the worst contract in the league, not by a long shot.
- PLD most consistent partner was first year pro Alex Laferriere (56.7%) in even-strength situations, the second most he has played with a player is Kevin Fiala at 18.7%, Arthur Kaliyev 12.9% and Carl Grundstrom 10.6%, and Jaret Anderson-Dolan 7.2%. The fact that his most common partner had only 4 games of AHL experience before playing with him, and two of his partners were regular healthy scratches. Statistically he had the best CF% when paired with Byfield which ranged from (60-68.3 CF%) . In contrast, in Winnipeg his most common partner was: Kyle Connor (53.3%, 81 pts). Arvidsson's injury and Fiala not gelling with PLD initially basically had him running around with bottom 6 players.
- LA experimented with PLD on Kopitars wing for 29 minutes. This was his only time playing wing all season, if PLD struggled at the center position, why has LA been so reluctant to try him at wing, where he has shown success in the past
- PLD is learning a new system, and has shown with the Jets he takes a year before he hits his stride
Do I think PLDs contract is bad, sure do. Do I think they need to buy him out or retain trade, no. I think his contract is salvageable if Byfield plays center with him, I think PLD-Byfield-Laffy could be a potential top line in the NHL. (Mainly because of how good I think Byfield is going to be).

It’s 1.6 million plus all the bonus money. Hes overpaid, but that’s just dumb. Move him to wing.

Probably but unfortunately the Canucks don't have the cap space to sign debrincat. Unless maybe it's something like Boeser + 11.

They're a team that is always proactive with their roster management and their owner is a believer in giving yourself as many opportunities at the cup as possible rather than the all in approach that most teams take at a certain point.</div></div>
Could probably obtain DeBrincat with that pick

Hawks counteroffer is Murray, Bos 1st, & Hawk '24 5th for the Hawk 3rd. Unlike when they did the Mrazek deal, Hawks are set in net (with 4 guys under contract) and adding a G forces a counter move that has a cost (probably buying out Mrazek)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SDSUFRATMAN</b></div><div>Boeser will absolutely get you a 1st rounder +. his dad died in 2022 who was his biggest fan and mentor. He also was playing on a disgraceful Canucks team. I’m not a Canucks fan but as someone who has dealt with a similar situation with his dad dying it takes a very big toll on you especially if it’s someone who has taught you that much.</div></div>
Ya exactly. And even in a down year boeser put up 55pts in 74 games. Which would have been good for 3rd in scoring on the predators. Plus it's not like this pick is in the teens. It's 25th at best and probably more like 29-32.
I honestly don't think Canucks will move Boeser. Tocchet seemed to trust him and I think they believe he can bounce back if he can get into a better headspace. But if they need the cap space they might not have another option to move.

Doesn't matter that hawks made a bad trade last year, wings pass. Not giving up a 2nd back for Murray and to help a divisional rival out of cap issues. Try the hawks again, wings won't do it

He was elite in a 2nd/3rd pair role this season , I think he can be a full time 2nd pair D as long as he plays with another 2nd pair caliber defenseman</div></div>
While that may be true, that’s a solid package for him. Lafferty could replace one of the expired identity liners, Robertson is a solid prospect, and the Vancouver 2nd is a good pick

Killorn is more of a placeholder name as I think he's going to the highest bidder but TO should try to get bigger and faster, not smaller and faster and I don't trust Steeves to be a full time NHLer

I agree, I said it would probably take less to acquire him. It would make the backend worse though

The Kings have holes to fill at #2 LhD and in goal, and only a limited amount of cap space with which to do it. Therefore, any transaction NOT involving one of those positions would have to be cap-neutral or cap-positive for Los Angeles, not one that would add more than $3.6 million in cap. And that would be true even if we DIDN'T have 10 forwards for our top 9 slots, as <a href="/users/Hckeydude123" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Hckeydude123</a> accurately says.
If you trade Tyler Myers AFTER his $5 million signing bonus is paid in the summer, you won't have to retain on him and you won't have to give up more than a fourth to persuade someone to take him.

We only drafted two of those guys and they were both top-5 picks. We have done well in draft recently with forwards (Bratt, Sharangovich, Gritsyuk were all late picks)…but tbd on dmen.

His profile name is Nathaniel and he is a really insightful profile with great and in depth takes. He has been talking about a Sharangovich move to the Leafs and I think that makes a lot of sense for both teams. Sharangovich on a line with ROR (and Acciari) would be lethal because of their two way play and that he is an above averager finisher capable of 20+ goals in the 2M range. He would be in his prime and help the Leafs in their quest for the cup right now.</div></div>
It’s a pretty good idea.
I like Sharangovich and wish we could teach him how to win a dang faceoff. His defense, especially with the long reach, is pronounced when playing in middle of the ice.

I don’t think Robertson would be high on our list. We have a lot of wingers in the system…and a few close to NHL-ready (Holtz, Clarke, Foote, Gritsyuk). Leafs could probably get more for Nick elsewhere (We do need centers)

I really like McLeod and he is a big part of our possession and transition game. He is our only solid right handed center (Lazar is there as well, but McLeod is nice). I'd be an idiot if I turned down the offer because it is a very good offer. I have had my eye on Nick Robertson for quite a while, especially when the Severson or Graves to TOR rumours were occuring.
The truth is the Devils are going to need a stop gap solution to fill Graves or Seversons spot and not rush Nemec. Jersey is known for being patient with our prospects and how we develop them.
Edit: Brodie is a good player. Unless your solution is the FA Market to replace him, I do not know why you would give up on him.

Don’t worry about it. It’s not a bad idea at all.
I think for Devils, it would be a scenario where both Graves and Severson depart, but we extend Haula for 3C and add someone for 4C. Right now, I think Haula is someone they could keep. Graves is most likely gone. Severson is really hard decision that will probably depend his next contract. He wants to stay, but also wants max term (7-8 years).
If all those line up, a McLeod-for-Dman deal seems possible.

McLeod is a role player, but a pretty solid one. Wouldn’t be as easy to replace him as many think. But if Graves and Severson both leave, we will need to add a dman.
