By the time the ducks are relevant again, rakell's bargain contract will be up and he will become an overpaid 30 year old. Might as well get a high end prospect that could be ready this next season, a 2nd line center replacement and an upgrade in draft pick.

If NSH lost in 2019 it will be best off-season scenario
Sissons locked up at that deal would be a win. I don't think Carolina would be willing to retain Hamilton plus I don't think NSH will move P.K. I will not deny P.K. is our 4th best dman but at the end of the day we are going to keep him through the end of this contract and then we are going to either pay him way less or let him walk. Only two issues I have with signing Duchene for 7 year, one that leaves little room to extend Josi, and two it leaves us with paying Duchene 8m when he is 36 years old.

False. 5.8 is plenty and realistically too much because in my opinion you cant pay him more than Jones. The only way they can give him over 5 is if the the term is either 6+ or under 3years.

TRADE FOR TERM OPTION 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Personally I can see an argument for both ways on the Zucker and Fiala swap. Fiala is younger and is due for a contract (which could be better or worse than Zuckers, but I'd lean towards better) but Zucker has the better track record with a 33 goal season under his belt. I think it's pretty close but the Wild might be getting the slightly better deal. Maybe a swap for picks (like the Wild's 3rd for Nashville's 4th or something) would balance it a little.
I think a Granlund for Tolvanen + trade makes a lot of sense for both clubs.</div></div>
Priority with any deal is that they can get Josi an extension July 1st. If they could do that with Granlund, I am fine with that. The Zucker vs Fiala debate, I don't think Fiala will be able to demand over 3 years or more than Craig Smith's 4.25m. that said, I could see a 1-2 year 3m deal to prove his term and/or financial worth.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Fenton is reportedly very interested in Fiala and Tolvanen. It would take a ton to get them both, but I don't think acquiring one is completely out of the picture. How about one of these?
Zucker for Fiala 1 for 1
Granlund for Tolvanen + Fla 3rd</div></div>
100% yes to that Granlund deal. 2 years gives them 2 cup runs without handcuffing them with Zucker's term.
I think Zucker for Fiala is not good enough because Fiala won't cost the same financially as Zucker and his points per 60 is already near the top of Nashville's roster.

TRADE FOR TERM OPTION 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kosterjr</b></div><div>Huberdeau isn’t available but what’s your offer for Hoffman?</div></div>
Same offer as for Zucker. Looking back at the initial offer I think that this would be an over payment on Huberdeau because of his extensive term. If trading for term the move would be 2-3 years.

TRADE FOR TERM OPTION 2
Honestly much less because his NTC and because Poile & Fenton have a relationship. I would probably say this year's first and either Fiala or Tolvanen. Either way commiting to 5 or more years to Huberdeau or Zucker would probably not be worth it because it would price other players out of the lineup over that time.

Want sure if a younger player with a higher goals/60 that is an RFA would be desirable to part with a player they and know if they will even resign in two years depending on where the organization is positioned. But because it would be two seasons it would make sense that it would cost more than just one piece even though Fiala is an 11th overall pick

Star swap
Agreed. Stars need depth and with the recent comments from the front office in Dallas, I could see Seguin not being as opposed to leaving a bubble team even though Seguin probably wouldn't have agreed to the same extension with the state tax difference outside of TX. Overall a sign and trade would make the most sense and that would be contingent on the Stars speaking with Panarin first where permission could be given. Maybe Radulov wants a Russian buddy that can score a goal... Nichushkin (said in sneeze-like fashion).

Issue is that EDM is up against the cap and CHI has approximately 4 million projected cap space. EDM can't do much about this. CAR may be interested in CHI flipping RNH to them for a D considering there has always been RNH rumors with CAR. Granted plenty of teams would be interested in a center option at this age which could be held till the TDL and moved once teams have a good understanding of where they will fall in the draft.

Q and the Gang
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>This is definitely a move Chiarelli would make. Trade more talented players for bigger old guys that did stuff when Chiarelli was good at his job.</div></div>
I did not do a good job providing my reasoning. So yes, your point is one reason I made this. Here are my main thoughts:
<strong>Seabrook</strong> | CHI has struggled to move him out with his NMC, but EDM is closer to home for him and are on the rise. EDM could see him as the guy that can support Klefbom like he supported Keith.
<strong>Sadd & Lucic</strong> | Current situation not really working out, similar contracts. EDM wants more speed, CHI wants a brand name player in return for Sadd to avoid admiting their mistake on their previous Sadd trade.
<strong>Todd McLellan</strong> | Let's not fool ourselves, he is not a bad coach but being the market he will not last without success because he lacks the legacy. Q can.
<strong>Puljujärvi & Nugent-Hopkins</strong> | RNH is part salary compensation for Seabrook and Puljujärvi is getting away from coach Q who won't be able to develop him.
Overall CHI may win this one so maybe EDM doesn't send a 3rd to them or maybe CHI takes on more of Q's contract since they are also paying him if that is a possibility since that would count against the cap. Or perhaps there are conditional picks sent to CHI based around Q's success.

I got mad at first not realizing Hartman was an RFA. I still think you can't get in a bidding war and overpay within the division. I think this trade should have been a conditional 1st at best. Hopefully if Hartman works out, I look like a dingus... if he doesn't, then they can trade his rights for a pick at the draft.

How the hell is this a fair deal. Why can't we call up Fredrick guedreu if me need depth. I'm glad I spent the last couple weeks worried we were going to waste a first round pick on Rick Nash, but now we waste it on depth with an inter division trade. Couldn't we have just kept letestu yesterday? I have no problem with Hartman but the value given up and inside the division makes me sick. Grabner went inside the division and only cost a 2nd and a prospect. Grabner has consistently had higher point totals his whole career than Hartman.

Johnson is an expensive 7th D man and I can't see Columbus taking non-roster players for him. Grabner could be a good pick up for them but he shouldn't set foot on the first line. Kyle Conner is a stud and is not a 4th liner who would be better suited up top. Grabner needs to be a 3rd liner. Overall practical pick ups, don't know if they would happen but right idea.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rangerfan01</b></div><div>I'm a Rangers fan and while Nash is a good fit, you have an excellent point. Neither Rangers nor preds have to even bother. Someone else will be a sucker and give up plenty for him. Nashville keeps window open. But remember cap is increasing and Rinne comes off the books same year as Ellis. So they might actually be able to keep him.
Fair warning though: Elliotte Friedman did say today Preds are all in on Nash. So while your point is excellent and I fully agree with it, it unfortunately may not happen.</div></div>
Excellent point with Rinne's contract expiring with Ellis's. Rinne will have to take a pay cut based on age and he's loyal like Lundqvist... Good ole Scandinavians. Time will tell his production between now and then that will also determine price but I can't see him over 5 mil and 3 years.
As far as considering the cap escalator I feel like it's smarter to utilize that as future wiggle room then to rely on using it prior to the space being there but that's more my own philosophy.
Either way I hope Hitchcock puts pressure on Nill to out bid Nashville. After all Dallas is a one line team for their production and could use offense depth. I also feel like they are thin on D too but there is only so much you can do and Hitch's system may be able to get by without all star depth on the back end.
Elliot is due to be wrong for once...

I would like to see what you would give up for Nyquist. Him on the the left side of the third line would be amazing. I love Hartsy but sometimes he looks a bit slow out there. Just my opinion tho. Fabbro and Tolvanen should be untouchable no matter what tho.</div></div>
Nyquist would require a 1st since he has term left. They would ask for Fabbro no doubt. If they could pull off Aberg and a first and either a B level prospect or a future 3rd I think the discussion should start. Problem is that DET would have to retain money which would up the cost.

I get heartburn ever time I hear Nash to Nashville. Please do not encourage this. Let the middle of the road teams try mortgaging their future for a chance like Minnesota did with Hanzel. NYR is justifiable in their initial asking price but if they get anything more than a 1st by itself or a 2nd and a prospect then the other team deserves a second round exit and future set backs. Nash is a player you look at as a nice offseason signing where you do not have to give up anything for him, not a rental.

Why would the leafs trade for the guy they could've easily picked in the draft instead of marner. There is no reason with all the cap space they have that they won't be able to pick up a FA top 4 D without giving anything up.

Send a little illogical to trade Neal for a pick and retain money to another contender in the same conference. Honestly duchane is not Johanson. We already gave up one rising young D to bring him in when he was at a low. I see Duchane didn't help his value at all through his play this season and wonder how the avs will getting anything more then a pick and a high level prospect at most.
