I hope you are able to find a team, I'm truly sorry it didn't work out here.
Good luck?</div></div>

I wouldn't rule out 2nd. With a core of: Ovechkin, Oshie, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Niskanen, Orlov, and Holtby WSH still has something left. But it matters not, if you can't beat Pittsburgh you not getting far. Pittsburgh rules the Eastern Conference.</div></div>

I would lean toward Barkov, because he is dynamic and doesn't rely on a player like McDavid

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DarylthePony</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheGiftedYoungRider</b></div><div>Ok, so I think this can kinda go either way. As a player, Orlov is young and a 6 year contract brings him to like 31 years old. From there, depending on how he played over those 6 years they can decide what to do with him. Another thing is that the contract isnt too massive, especially for a 6 year deal.
My only concern is Washingtons Cap space. they only now have about 12Mill cap space remaining with several players currently unsigned. Now, they could trade some of them, but there are at least 7 at this point in time, including players like Shattenkirk who was a big part of the Caps blue line strength last season. If I could change anything about the signing, maybe a 4 year deal at about 3.75 Million a year, which could free up some much cap space.</div></div>
Shattenkirk, Williams, and Alzner will all sign elsewhere. Winnik will also go elsewhere (but that barely matters), the concern now is signing Burakovsky and Kuznetsov. Burakovsky is worthy of a 4 year deal, while Kuznetsov needs to go long term. Also Grubauer needs to be signed. Whatever turn this takes expect WSH to fall back next year as Columbus and Philadelphia improve immensely. Washington should still make the playoffs, but another President's trophy is a unlikely, and beating Pittsburgh is now improbable.</div></div>

Future of Marleau and Thornton

I wrote a thing in the Kings forum about how Joe might fit in with them... I think depending on the salary cost there is maybe a 50/50 chance they both end up on Kings... I thought Joe would cost 9 or 10 million over 3 years, though some think he would take as little as 6M over 3 years. In that case I think his chances of ending up on Kings are higher... Marleau I think will cost between 3-5M in cap hit, maybe if they both went to Kings he would be like 4M w/ Joe 2 for a hit of 6M which would be doable especially if Gaborik is out. They could end up broken up, either could be LW on the Kopitar line or even Jeff Carter. Could even have Marleau, Joe, Carter as the 2nd line moving up Pearson/Tyler to the 1st with Kopitar. There a lot of options, maybe they would all be on the PP together...
Marleau I think could end up on almost any team, Joe probably has a higher chance to end up on Kings than him. I don't think they are heading to Vegas, probably would have to be teams who Post Season teams with a chance for Cup or fringe ones. Maybe one of them ends up on Nashville to replace Neal, no clue about Dallas, Ducks could be an option since they were kinda close also freed up salary losing Bernier/Stoner etc. In the East I don't know if they would play for Islanders or a team like the Rangers... In a way its real sad they both could leave the Sharks without ever winning a Cup. Would either fit on a team like the Wild, Blues, Chicago, Flames, don't see them going to Oilers. Read a rumor about Maple Leafs having interest, though can't trust that given the location of hockey media sources :).</div></div>
Ya, thats true. I heard the same thing about the Leafs wanting Marleau. My guess is they will be signed somewhere in the next 3 days tops.

(CAR / CGY) - Kanzig for Lack, Murphy

Calgary has the forward and defensive core to win it all. The rest is up to Mike Smith.</div></div>
This is why Calgary shoulda made a strong bid for MAF....with him in net, they're core (Fleury, Giordano, Brodie, Hamilton, Hamonic, Monahan, Gaudreau, Backlund, Tkachuk) is enviable. Only thing they lack IMO is an elite right handed shot RW</div></div>
For sure, the only reason Calgary has been dragged down the past few years is a <em><em>Lack</em></em> of good goaltending.
