Big Big Moves 2020 Summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Man I hate the internet some days. Its been what 3 months? 4 months since Rielly was in the running for Captaincy and now half of fans want to move him because he had a rough start while playing injured. This despite, playing the toughest minutes most nights and playing more than anyone other defender in TO and had to carry Ceci for most of the first half of the season. But what have you done for me lately. Tavares hasn't scored in a game, lets trade him for anything.</div></div>
So if you'd read what I posted this is an exercise more around the issue of keeping both Rielly and Muzzin. I think Rielly's a phenomenal hockey player - I agree with your assessment of the situation 100%. I'm not coming on here and going 'Rielly sucks **** him trade him'. The point of this post is to try to illustrate and think about who should be kept out of Rielly and Muzzin because a Rielly-Muzzin-Dermott-Sandin left side clearly leaves someone as the odd-man-out. yes the roster and trades take the trade Rielly standpoint to try and illustrate and see what would happen in this situation.

Manson
Description down here too:
Manson- I think he's the best option out there that fits the Leafs. He has term, 4.1mil and fits the more physical / shutdown mold. Return: I'm a big advocate for moving Johnsson over Kapanen. The LW TML depth is Hyman, SOUP, Engvall, Moore, Kerfoot, Timashov. I think that Johnsson is the odd-man-out. I also don't really want to give up Kapanen I think he has more long-term upside over Johnsson and his speed and PK work are things I prize. I think the add of Hollowell (a B d prospect) and all the picks is worthy value. The 6+7 are for taking Ceci. So I'd consider the return for Manson as Johnsson, Hollowell, 2nd + 2nd. I think that's relatively fair, but I'm sure someone will disagree with me.
Stalock- I like Stalock as a sleeper-option for backup. MIN fans on here keep telling me they want right shooting forwards so how about Bracco who is ready for an NHL shot and I think could be an alright 3rd liner with the ability to play higher up if needed. Kaskisuo is a decent goalie prospect and a 4th. Again I think this is relatively fair value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyThePensFan</b></div><div>That's not enough quality from the Leafs.</div></div>
Probably not, what was floated (in the rumour I read) was that the Habs aren't happy with Domi right now, hence possibly a lower value for him. I don't really like this trade idea so I didn't put a tone of effort in to upgrading the value from the Leafs end LOL. Just threw some extras with what was rumoured as Bracco and Kapanen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danes1294</b></div><div>How come it's easier for the Leafs to get rid of Turris than Nashville. What am I missing?</div></div>
It isn't necessarily - but I think it's a shot worth taking to get Fabbro.

If I posted Fabbro for Johnsson, Kivihalme a 3rd, 2nd & 5th - I think that's relatively fair value. It's around what D-Men with his level of promise have gone for in the past. Turris I thought would be not a bad addition as there's clearly a LOT of talk of him wanting out and the Preds wanting him gone. I guess it really depends on how much value you place on Turris but I would think that a top-6 winger, a promising prospect and 3rd,2nd+5th picks is not a bad return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BLIvingston33</b></div><div>Wild still have no need for Johnsson...they need centres or right-handed shots.</div></div>
Fair, I guess I'm protective of Kap and Kerfoot LOL, if that's the case I'd move Kap and the 2nd becomes just a 2nd no condition.

Wild Dumba Rumours - Adjusted based on ACGM feedback
So this was all based on the rumour I saw reported. And now I've made some edits to this based on the comments I was getting on the previous ACGM.
Lots of people were saying add a 1st or add a 2nd and another prospect so I added Bracco and a 2nd that could become a 1st.

Wild Dumba Rumours - My Thoughts
This is the trade rumour I saw, I think it's relatively fair but let me know your thoughts. I also think Dumba + Stalock is as good a combo of defender+backup that's out there to go after for the Leafs.

The Leafs have a lot of forward depth right now - I don't think it's worth sacrificing our D-Depth in that Barrie trade for another forward even after moving Johnsson

Deep commentary, I'd say that Kapanen a speedy as hell, proven top-6 winger who kills penalties and consistently puts up points is worth Deangelo even if you want to put a premium on it you could say Kap + Hollowell a very young, promising defence prospect is worth Deangelo.
Georgiev is a backup, a good one but a backup nonetheless and is clearly the odd-man-out in the Rangers crease right now. So a solid backup isn't worth a 4th, a 2nd and Bracco?
I'd say this is a pretty fair trade

Hahahaha yeah they would that's highway robbery. The Blues have enough RHD depth in Paryako and Faulk to afford to let him go and he's on an expiring contract. The ONLY way this isn't an overpay is if Pietranglo automatically resigns at same cap for 5 years after the trade.
Otherwise the Blues give up half a season of Pietranglo, who they don't entirely need with their current depth. For a top 6 winger to replace a good chunk of the scoring lost with Taresenko out (Kap). A b prospect who is ready for a shot at the NHL level (Bracco). An alright 5/6 D man who, in sheltered minutes, can be an asset (Ceci). AND a first round draft pick.
Yeah sure the Blues say no to all of that just cause they want another 30 games of Pietranglo before he walks in free agency anyways LOL

As I said I think it is too but it sounds like the consensus in the league is that you'll overpay to get an NHL-caliber backup right now. Also every other Jarry trade I posted everyone said it was an underpay. I'd go big or go home to get a backup right now as the Leafs are in serious need of one.

Soo toughness
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>I know a lot of the TV talking heads said last year that Toronto's toughness improvement needed to come from inside. The Boston guys haven't been "tough" their whole career, they had to learn to play that way. Matthews has a big frame, he needs to get more comfortable throwing it around (imagine he started playing a bit more like JT), Marner needs to get a bit of Marchand to his game (minus the cheap shots) and work on his forecheck. Nylander is never going to be a big bodycheck guy, but can improve his strength on the puck and ability to go and get it. Reilly needs to get better at battling in the corners. Those are the things that will make the Leafs tougher, I 100% agree about not adding some 3rd pair D or 4th line player to add "sandpaper."
If they wanted to do that just bring up Mason Marchment when he's healthy for nothing.</div></div>
Everything you're saying makes perfect sense. I think particularly in Keefe's system where that 'sandpaper' guy will probably play 7-9mins a night - what're you doing for the other 50mins?

Soo toughness
I thoroughly don't understand this logic in the Leafs community that 1 'tough guy' forward is going to solve our team toughness issue. I 100% agree that the Leafs need to be meaner, tougher, harder to play against physically and that they need to stand up for teammates. I just think that all of that comes from the team as a whole stepping up. Look back to the Chicago game this year Toews dropped the gloves to make a statement and stand up for his team is Toews the type of 'tough guy' player we should be acquiring...no he doesn't fit that mould (He's probably more like JT) but he stood up for his teammate regardless.
I just think that the logic is flawed to think that one 'tough guy' forward who will play on our 4th line, so 10mins a night MAX under the Keefe system, is going to miraculously make the Leafs tougher to play against.
Teams like Boston are tough to play against, in the way we're talking about, because everyone up and down the lineup is willing to push hard and play physical. Not because they have 1 out of 12 forwards who is a 'tough guy'.

Leafs 20-21
Ok so a few things here.
1. That trade is a bad idea for the Leafs Nurse is a good D but is not at Reilly's level (yes even with him having a not-so-great 25 games to start this year) Also a signed #1 D for an RFA #2/3 D is a terrible trade.
2. There is no way in hell that Nurse signs for anything less than 5mil a year with 6+ term.
3. Most likely that the Oil will sign him to an extension before the season end.
4. Gustafsson and Liljegren don't solve out RD problems in any real way.
This is just full of awful ideas.

I'd be surprised if something along these lines actually happens I would bet that Pit brass will want a pick going back for Jarry. Liljigren hurts us because he's most likely the long-term partner of Sandin on our blueline.
