Oilers after this one and when healthy: They trade Ceci elsewhere with retention and maybe a sweetener if needed, a mid pick or something.

BUT.... after Patrick Kane miraculously decides to try out playing with McDavid for just the rest of this season on a cheap deal.. with a vastly improved D, and these forwards... ;) .. A team whose offensive play keeps them in the other team's zone more often than not, mostly just requires a few D-men who are adept at advancing the puck and breaking out of their own end. The rest handles itself. But for that kind of system to work, every cog, every role has to be fulfilled equally. Tough to do but doable if all pull in the same direction (I mean, maybe at least in the regular season). Adding Miller and Schneider to the back end would be huge, in my opinion, if the Oilers can also find a goalie and figure out their confidence issues.

Just dreamin away like a rainy day, Jimi Hendrix style, just lettin' it groove its own way. For sure I get that Draisaitl, Broberg and Bourgault feels too rich for an Oilers fan, because, well, Draisaitl is who he is, I get it, but you still get a bona fide #1 center in Zibanejad who will have to play 2C but is cost controlled at a much cheaper rate than Draisaitl will be soon, offering flexibility to improve the depth of the roster as the cap increases, a real sore spot for them, a 1st overall pick who is finally coming into his own, and two young, very quality defencemen.

.... and Patrick Kane maybe but very very very very unlikely.

End of the day, Fox is as untouchable as Draisaitl to his team, so it isn't an unfair ask if they want Leon to insist on a guy like Fox. But you'd have to remove Zibanejad and make it a lesser center like Chytil or Trocheck. So in other words really unlikely that gets done.

Sujet: Is it worth it for either side
Just got to the restaurant and expecting a Hate-ress to serve my table, so let's hear the thoughts. I realize I just posted in another thread that maybe Sanheim should be given more time to prove his start isn't a fluke or whatever, but I got curious. Both rosters "when healthy":

Edm: hopes Sanheim's performance so far isn't just an anomaly. Hopes Frost becomes something more than a slightly undersized forward struggling to make it work. Torts seems to just have it in for him too. Adds Seeler to the mix to throw some weight around and get the odd assist here and there.

Phi: Tortorella turns Nurse into a proper defenceman worth his salary. Only way it makes this work lol. Get the 2024 1st (probably have to add some protection to it, top 10, top 8, whatever it has to be), Bourgault and Holloway. Laughton becomes trade bait when Bourgault is ready to make the jump, or whenever Briere wants.

Sujet: My Draisaitl deal either hate it or midly disdain it
(Forgive my spelling of mildly). First a break down, then rosters (when healthy). In the breakdowns, Draisaitl's gargantuan value is considered to make up for the difference in the D swap, and any differences in the forward swaps that may exist, depending on how you look at it. Oilers somewhat balance their roster and hopefully get some better production from not McDavid and Draisaitl alone.

1. Draisaitl for Norris, Bernard-Docker and a 2024 1st round pick.

2. Nurse for Chabot

3. Janmark, Holloway and Grubbe for Pinto, Joseph and Kelly. (Hopefully Holloway can gain some confidence and grow better alongside Greig and the wily vet Giroux, and Draisaitl gets Kubalik going, spreading the offence around nicely.)

Sujet: Deal or no deal
So, big trade to overhaul both teams. The Leafs seriously upgrade their defence, and the Avs get a soon-solid D-man in Liljegren back, McCabe, plus the 'big' man Nylander to complement MacKinnon, Rantanen and Nichushkin up front. The Avs add the late 1st rounder due to the sheer difference between Nylander and Tatar. Does either team entertain it? Extensions all around!
