Detroit Making the Rumors Work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FreeTacosAreBestTacos</b></div><div>There is approximately 0% chance Drury ever does that.</div></div>
I'm just going off of the rumors lol. I wouldn't do it personally. I just wanted to know if mathematically (cap-wise) it was possible without gutting the team. It will only work if they trade/buyout fabbri

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>You conveniently leave out Seeler that only missed the last two weeks of the season and Walker who was traded. people are so serious. I "conveniently" left out Seeler because he missed 2 weeks hence didn't play the entire season, and walker who was traded and hence didn't play the entire season. I also stated in my thing that it can really be any team.
Maatta isn't going to magically make Flyers (or any team for that matter) a playoff team. He's a depth guy, he's a solid defensive defenseman who is reliable, and a lot better than Staal and Johnson. That's literally it I thought oh hey Philly struggles with injuries - Philly has 2 grandpas that need to retire, they could use another 5-6 guy instead of Staal/Johnson, and someone healthy instead of Risto and Drysdale. Either way, Maatta is ONE person, and can only play ONE slot, so my though process of replacing the 2 old farts with him still works. Either way, thanks for your opinion, and I will continue armchair GM-ing and you will continue armchair GM-ing.

probably, but we could also play the game of would he have sucked under a different system? different city? different teammates? he's never been a driver, but was expected to be one in CBUS. either way, we shall see what the real GMs do... that's why we're the armchair GMs

57 goals, 27 PPG, 5 SHG, 94 Pts, Avg > 20 min on the ice, and 4 games away from the Cup with 12 pts in 15 games.
I based that off of William Nylander's new contract and Braydon Point's contract from last year.

And lets not forget, Petry - atrocious as he may be, A) isn't that expensive and B) has not only an NTC but a NMC. He is retiring as a Red Wing this year so we gotta just accept him as a 7th D and move on. Like stompers said, wishing him away isn't gonna happen.

York played 82 and Sanheim played 81 games... then the Flyers dressed 11 other defenseman. But there aren't top D available that wouldn't cost an arm, and a leg... plus... you can draft a top defenseman with your *checks list* 12th overall pick...

My Dream Offseason Though Unrealistic
I dunno if Detroit can afford Barclay's cap hit. They have cap trouble on their own and he doesn't improve their scoring which is Detroit's problem. Upgrading a pick is great, but getting saddled with yet another large AAV for a guy who may or may not pan out in a few years isn't enticing. We'll take Trouba though haha Yzerman is collecting Michiganders

I mean we might do that given how much the ozone above Detroit is suffering due to his hair gel usage. lol but ya it really is just a contract movement. perhaps San Jose would take him off our hands for 3 bags of pucks

Chatfield would fit in perfectly as Yzerman is trying to build a team of Michiganders apparently... Maatta would be a casualty to clear some cap room. The 4th could be a 5th. I was going to give Fabbri up for free, but the 2 bags of pucks are pricey enough to warrant a 7th. Have you been shopping lately?
This also does not address the goaltending issue but upgrades D and adds some firepower up front with the dream signing of Reinhart who answers every question for Detroit!

Teams overpay in FA all the time. Somehow, the Canes thought Orlov is worth 7.8M, Flyers thought Hayes is worth 7.1, and Gallagher signed a 6.5M deal. I'd take TT over all 3 of them.

Perron sucks</div></div>
1) TT is going to demand that much, and given Detroit's talent (or lack thereof) on wing, he would be a good fit. Marchesault is another guy, but he's a small winger who is older than TT.
2) yup, but Roy is a dream signing. Petry and his NMC isn't going anywhere. Switch Chiarot and Roy, and I'm still happy with Roy, but we can't afford anything more than 4, maybe 5 million. You're right, I just really want Roy
3) that's why it's a bridge deal, 3 years, he'll still be an RFA, but make massive amounts of money
4) Which is why he's flanked with experience. We can't afford a quality C, so lets use a homegrown one on an ELC. It's a shame to put him on 3C or 4C. If that's the case, let him sit in the AHL, but then we have a hole at C.
5) Agreed... but his value isn't on the ice, it's in the locker room. 4th liner making meh money isn't a big deal.

I don't know many teams that will pay him 5.5-6, but you're right, he's def not a 3rd liner. He would be higher than Chiarot, I wasn't really thinking lines so much as staying within the cap lol

I get it, just dunno where he could go. He's clearly outgrown the AHL, and is out of favor with the Wings management. Perhaps SJS. I just want the guy to get some icetime.
