<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeautifulIdiot</b></div><div>Emphasis on the dream, Guentzle for Miller 1:1, 1st for boeser (maybe minus a 4th) and then the 2nd for Demko? HA HA HA HA HA HA
Miller for Guentzel? Yeah, a person would have to be out of their mind. That Miller contract is AWFUL! Paying for who he is now, Miller is probably worth a 1st and B prospect.
A 1st for Boeser? Not after this latest season. He might fetch a 2nd.
Demko? He has played more than 40 games in 1 season and he has a career 910 save percentage and 3 GAA. He is appropriately paid at 5MM so maybe worth a 1st.
For Miller, Boeser, and Demko you're looking at a return of 2 1sts a B prospect and a 2nd.
Guentzel is worth a 1st and an A prospect.
By that math, Imagne OVERPAID Vancouver.
For full transparency Van might be my favorite team in the west. I love their fans but they (like most fans) WAY overvalue the players they like. I am a fan of trading Miller because I don't want to see Van get crushed with his terrible contract.

If the vax issue were not there, Bertuzzi is the exact type of player everyone covets for a playoff run. He plays a complete game and is good for 30 goals and 60 to 70 points. He makes his linemates better, and has the ability to play a grinder game or a skill game. There are few players in the league like him.

After Last Nights Dealings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sqm918</b></div><div>Ok. I’ll play along with that. That leaves you with 4.25 mil with Jarry, Dumo, and Blueger to resign or replace. Say Jarry get 5.5, so another 2 mil. Down to 2.25 left. Obviously don’t know Bluegers future here, but I feel they like him and want to keep him around which would already put them over the cap and still don’t have a Dumo replacement. Say we let Blueger go, replacing him with a minimum contract would be fine. That leaves like 1.5 to replace Dumo. The only way it works is if POJ blooms into a top-4 dman and we pay a small amount for a bottom dman leaving them with no money left. Big what if. Hextall has mentioned cap space numerous times. Don’t see him spending to the absolute limit. Even then they will still have to add a player or two to complete the roster making this impossible. Only realistic outcome with all of it is if they move out McGinn or Carter next year, which would be nice, but easier said than done. All of this assuming the cap goes up, which again is not a given.
P.S.-your hypocrisy is showing about that dick comment</div></div>
Blueger wouldn't already put you over the cap. I don't know why you are struggling with this. If Blueger goes from 2.2mil to 3mil, you only need to find 800K - not 3mil. No - that doesn't leave 1.5 to replace Dumo. You aren't accounting for Dumo's contract. So that would leave 5.6mil to replace Dumo.
The cap going up is a given. Bettman already said it.
So for your scenario - since Miller is having money retained: Zucker, buyout and cap create at least 7.5mil in cap space. 4.5 to Miller and 2 to Jarry gives you 1mil in free space. If Blueger resigns for 2.2 - that doesn't cost anything.
P.S. It's not hypocrisy - I'm just returning your dickish behavior.

honestly i'd prefer signing a 3C like Strome and moving Carter to that RW spot. if not, Sonny Milano would be a good pickup instead of EROD, but i like either.
also i may be in the minority here, but the JT Miller trade is not worth it. i don't think the Pens can afford his extension next season (~$8M) and it doesn't make sense to spend that much capital on a 1-year rental

I can understand it for cap reasons cause you added Zucker, but not for production reasons. Staal isn’t worth what he is paid. Marino is gonna cost more than a prospect that has shown nothing plus a player who had 1 good season. At this stage of their careers, Blueger is the better option than Bonino. Younger, faster, more productive, and their price is basically the same. Borts for Friedman is like a wash. Depth D for depth D. I’d rather have Friedman for youth purposes. Ideal offseason in my opinion
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sqm918</b></div><div>Yea I don’t know what these people are thinking. Letang has made it clear that he wants to remain a Penguin. Exactly. I'm thinking he takes an AAV somewhere between 7 and 8 and term somewhere between 2 and 5. The longer term the less AAV and vice versa.

I don't understand the "Letang wants big money talk". It's based on absolutely nothing - the only rumor we have was his agent saying in March that he would take "something in the ballpark of $7 million". He's not a massive liability defensively. Pens were 5th in the league in GAA - so I wouldn't exactly call their defense shaky.

Bertuzzi is a bona fide top line winger that scores very close to a point per game and plays both sides equally well as well as playing both PP and PK.

Probably just upset because the dreaded rebuild is coming and their top prospect is at best a middle 6 winger.

Offseason prediction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sqm918</b></div><div>Don’t waste the assets on Bertuzzi, Malkin gets more, Rakell gets less (probably), O’ Connor isn’t a top-6 player, Blueger stays on the 4th line, Kadri isn’t a 3rd liner and is wasted money, Kap probably isn’t on the team past Monday, and swap Chiarot with Letang, which you can afford by not signing Kadri and Chiarot. Think they find a way to keep all 3.</div></div>
O'Conner isn't a top 6 player, but Crosby and Malkin can elevate players so much that they produce at that level, which allows for more depth on the 3rd and 4th line. Happened with Crosby and Sheary. Sometimes the AHL call ups play well in that role. And I wound't call Kadri a waste of money, he's having a great season. Kapanen is playing a lot better recently and we could possibly keep him for very cheap, but anything could happen there. For Letang I don't think it's a matter of us not wanting to keep him or afford him, but the issue is the term he's asking for. A 5 year contract would not be possible for us and if he isn't willing to have lower term it won't work. He also can decide to leave and go to somewhere like Montreal where he could get a monster contract. I want to keep him too, but it's looking like a toss up at this point.

Overhaul
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensfan21</b></div><div>Personally I'm not too concerned with our prospects and long term right now. We only have a few years left of Crosby and Malkin and I think we have to go all in. Someone like Bertuzzi I think is what this team is missing and could help more than most. And Boeser Garland I wouldn't be opposed, but we'd have to give up Marino. We need someone more edgy like Bertuzzi</div></div>
Poulin, PO-J and a 1st being back a better player alone. A better winger for sure. Even a more valuable player. A top pairing RHD. A two-way C and can move Carter to Geno’s wing .Let alone adding Pettersson and Kappy. Horrible asset management this trade.
And taking on Schmidt’s contract and term is a bad deal too. It defeats the purpose of moving Pettersson.
If Pettersson gets traded, its for cap purposes. Not b/c he’s unproductive or unwanted. Having Pettersson as your 3rd pairing LHD is a luxury.
And the defense and Jarry is the reason the Pens are so good this season(1st or 2nd place team in probably the deepest division). Especially with Sid/Geno being out significant time and other offensive players having inconsistent seasons.
And a big reason they can move him is b/c of PO-j. He has proved he’s a more than capable NHL D-man. And even Friedman/Ruhwedel has been a solid 3rd pairing. No need for Schmidt if Pettersson gets traded.
And again, if this is Bert price. Pens move on to the next winger. 100% Cunucks take Poulin, PO-J and a 1st for Boeser or Garland. Garland isn’t a Burke/Hextall type player though. And to give up those assets, Boeser would have to agree to a long term deal. I don’t think any GM wants anything to do with his 7.5M QO.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensfan21</b></div><div>The fact of the matter is we will have to give up a lot to upgrade at wing. I prefer this over giving up Marino at this point. The 1st is late and worth the cost of getting Bertuzzi, Petterson is replaceable, Kapanen has been playing awful, and POJ Poulin you'd prefer not to give up, but Bertuzzi will be wirst a ton. Players like him are hard to find and he's exactly the type of player we need. If we can get a top 6 winger without giving up Marino then I'm for it.</div></div>
I think Most Pens fans would say ok with giving up Petterson and Kappy. It’s just bad asset management though.
Two 25 year old NHL players, plus two top 100 prospects, plus a 1st round pick. For a winger. The least valued position in the NHL.
And again, I’m a Bert fan. But he’s never played a full season either. And like I said, wingers never being back that price. Obviously there is the most of them in the NHL. And winger is the most position that is available.
If that was Bert price. Pens would just move on to the next available winger. It’s just a stupid to give up all those assets.

Plus, POJ could be replaced with a pick, Detroit is loaded with LD prospects and it might be better to just have a pick to address another need.</div></div>

It’s just too much for Bert. And I’m a fan. No GM trades two NHL players, both just 25 years old and under team control, plus two top 100 prospects, close to NHL ready, and a 1st round pick. And Again, I’m a Bert fan, but that’s a crazy price.
Take two 1st round round picks and a younger high-end prospect instead. The chances of them becoming Pettersson/Kappy or even smelling the NHL is less than 50%.
And Fans undervalue both Poulin and PO-J
Poulin and PO-J are two top 100 prospects on any top 100 prospect list out there. Yes, the Pens organization isnt full of “A” prospects/top prospects. But Poulin and PO-J are.
