Yes, that is exactly what he is supposed to do. We don't need loud signings or trades. Jiricek or Nemec would be a good addition to this core of defense, while I'm not sure if Nemec is better for me than Jiricek, but I will be glad to any of them.

Not interested in any of the deals, I just hope Adams doesn't take steps like this.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DongLord23</b></div><div>Yes and Mitts played decent for a few weeks. I think you're over exaggerating his play a bit though. It's a small sample size of him playing alright.
I think based on your LD depth & prospects trading Dahlin for Petey would be a smart trade for Buffalo. I'd always take a 1C over a 1D. You would go into the draft with a center core of Petey, Cozens, Mitts/Tage, Krebs, and whoever you decide to draft. I think Adams would accept this trade if it was offered based on his recent moves.</div></div>
He played for more than a few weeks, but that doesn't matter now. I think Adams is happy with our depth of center and will not rush to win, let the young players grow and develop.
Again, I disagree, I'm not trading Dahlin at this stage, I hope Adams won't do that either.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DongLord23</b></div><div>I never said he was a superstar like Crosby or Mackinnon. He is a top line center though.
Mitts looks alright. I don't see anything from him that shows legit top 6 C yet. More like good 3C on a playoff team. Same with Tage.</div></div>
Did you watch the games last season when Granato was coach? Mitts looked like a top 6 C when he played. Mitts played one period this season. Thompson looks decent, even with only 3C. As I said, I see no point in this trade for Buffalo at this stage. Dahlin is too important to us and he is only 21 years old. Pettersson is a great young top 6 C, but you have chosen the wrong team to trade. Rangers or Wild would probably be much more interested in such a player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DongLord23</b></div><div>We are talking about a top line center here. That's Stamkos / ROR / Bergeron / Matthews / Toews / Kopitar level. Mitts looks improved but he's not close to that level. Same with Tage. Those guys will be decent guys on the second/third line, but shouldn't be top line guys. If they are top line guys you won't be competing.
Cozens maybe, but I see him as more of a 2C.</div></div>
Drafting is the best way to get a strong center. Pettersson is also not MacKinnon or Crosby, and it is unlikely that he will ever be like that. We still don't know or see their potential. Mitts looked great, he always had high hockey IQ and good hands to be a legit top 6 C, just in the beginning these idiots slowed down his development a little. Cozens probably won't be an elite center, but he could be a guy like Couturier or Carter.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DongLord23</b></div><div>It's just a swap of two really good, but under performing talents. Nobody is saying Power is the savior. You have some good left side guys in the system/NHL like Samuelsson, Johnson, and Bryson too.
Dahlin has played some RD at the NHL level like i said. Joe Yerdon broke it down. He can play RD.</div></div>
I would definitely not make this deal. Bryson, Johnson and Samuelsson are basically shutdown guys, they just don't have the potential that Dahlin has. I don't like this deal as a Buffalo fan and I wouldn't do it. Our center depth looks good, especially in the future, and the team is not trying to win right now. I like Pettersson, but no thanks.
I know that he can play on the right side, he played some games on the right side in the first season, but in recent years he has been playing on the left side.

Have you watched the Buffalo games under Granato? Mitts walked almost at PPG pace in these games and looked like a legit top 6 C. Cozens is still young and already looking very promising. Even Thompson, for whom there was little hope, suddenly became the center and looks very decent.

No thx, we absolutely shouldn't trade Dahlin, and hoping Power will be our savior has never worked for us. Also, Dahlin almost never played on the right side in the NHL, even such a wise coach as Granato does not do this, although he could easily.

Also buffalo wanted us to pay a premium for eichel and have to overpay more then anyone else if you want carlo well get reay to lose some assetss you gotta give to get</div></div>
We just don't need Carlo at this price, op chose the wrong target.

There are probably not many realistic options, or you will have to seriously overpay, which Adams simply should not do. I would just prefer to build from the draft and with who we already have.

Next Year
Olofsson definitely looked decent, his geme at ES is regularly improving, but he is not so young and it is not yet clear what kind of contract he wants. I would not trade him at this stage, but perhaps Adams will consider this option, especially since it depends on the return. I think Girgensons and Okposo need a good center, Zemgus seems to me to look better in the wing, but Eakin is just not that good, Larsson fits perfectly into this role, maybe look at Jankowski, I hope he will be called soon, maybe try R2, or look for other options. By the way, Larsson will be UFA in the summer. Then Skinner is a strange guy, he probably needs to play either in the top 6 or sit in the press box, it all depends on Jeff and how he will try.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>I mean, we’re all just PLAYING GM here- so no biggie
It’s just tough to imagine any coach putting Skinner in that position in real life
Also…. we’re still gonna be pretty far from a finished product next year. I think the moves you made are reasonable- and if i were GM I’d be doing something similar. I think this is roughly what Adams will look to do as well. Possible add another goalie, or at least attempt to bring in a RH vet defenseman or 2.
Tough to say if we could get any decent free agents to come here, but i think he’d at least try.
There could be too many kids on this roster- which i do get, bc i think we have a lot of guys that are basically ready. But as talented as many of these kids are, a bit more Vet support could be a help to their development.
The start this year has been nice, but i still expect us to finish in the bottom10, maybe bottom5- and the same next year as well
But i do think Adams has stopped the ship from sinking
Not sure that this all adds up to a legit contender yet, but we seem to be moving in the right direction at least.
Go Sabres!</div></div>
Well, I remember how Krueger put Skinner in the fourth line. :squinty
My problem with Jeff is his desire to play, he still has all his instruments, but when I watch games, he can play one game well and I can see how he tries, and then the next two games he can just relax on the ice and nothing not to do. It is clear that with such a contract this was probably to be expected, but this does not in any way benefit the team, I would like to see more games where Skinner really tries and fewer games where he just rests on the ice.
In any case, next season, I think this team will be even more interesting to watch. Now we just do not have enough talent (including due to injuries), of course, they are unlikely to seriously fight for the playoffs, but maybe for a start they will be able, for example, not to get into the top 10 worst teams in the league, there will already be good and some progress.
I don’t know how Adams will act, I’m not sure if he will try to sign big fish in the UFA, especially since it’s difficult to lure big fish into Buffalo now. Just keep going on the same course as now and not take stupid steps.
Yes, probably this year we are still finishing in the top 5 or top 10, although I think next season they may surprise, and maybe even get out of the top 10.
I am also a little sad for Dahlin, our fan base looks petty and bloodthirsty (not all). They are ready to tradea 21-year-old boy, it is not clear for what reason. Even many of the Norris owners of recent years at 21 did not look better than Rasmus, and some of whom could not score 30 points. Sometimes he makes mistakes when making decisions, but even with such a partner as Pysyk, he looked very solid in defense, I am sure the metrics confirm this when they together on the ice the team did not concede a single goal. Even yesterday when they lost 5-0, he looked like our best player, but we have almost no talent in attack to help him somehow, he gives good passes and he is almost always accurate , he is good at breakouts, while he and Pysyk get many starts in the D-zone. It is not his fault that Hayden, Bjork or others cannot score a goal after Dalin created the ideal conditions for them to do so. It's obvious to me that Dalin improved under Granato, and this was noticeable even last season, but playing together with Butcher unsettled him a little, but as we can see, he looks great paired with Pysyk, and before that he played well in a pair with Jokiharju, then the problem was in the partner. I hope Adams will not do stupid things and will not even think about trading Dahlin, especially since I am sure we will not get a huge return. When Olofsson, Mitts, Tuch and Jokiharju return to the squad, I'm sure Dahlin will gain a lot more points.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>There’s a BIG difference between playing Skinner with a defensive center, and putting him on the checking line
It’s not gonna happen dude
Skinner doesn’t have the skill set to pull that off
There’s other Sabres who make MUCH more sense in a defensive role
Example:
I saw u moved Asplund down to that line now
That makes A LOT more sense bc his skill set does allow him to play a 2way game</div></div>
Yes, I understand that there is little point in playing Skinner on the line with checkers, I just don't know where to find a place for him yet.

And being temporarily demoted down the lineup doesn’t mean that putting a player who’s not good at defense, into a checking role where he’s going up against other teams’ top players on a shift by shift basis- well that’s just about the worst idea I’ve heard of
It’s not gonna happen</div></div>
Not in defense, but with a defensive center, with players who can compensate for his passivity in defense. He played in Carolina with Victor Rask, you can check it out.
I have no idea what the lines will look like next season, nor do you, so it doesn't matter.

But if he’s the best player available you still take him in my opinion. Realistically even if we did have a terrible record the odds of us winning the draft lottery two years in a row are pretty slim. But I think this draft is pretty well set in terms of who the top three players are.</div></div>
I also like Lambert, but his stock is falling, I even doubt he will be chosen in the top 10. Over the past year, he has had poor production and a very dubious father who is obsessed with controlling his son. I wouldn't risk picking him in the top 10, but if he is still on the table with a choice of Vegas or Florida, then I would take the risk.

Then we dont get two joyous years of a declining myers, we keep thompson, trade miller for a 2nd, keep the other 2 2nds, plus we get about 15 million in cap space. There is also no toxic locker room anymore. I just don't see the point in this trade for Buffalo. Krebs is the player Adams really wanted to see in Buffalo. Thompson at least now looks like a solid top 9 center and is still young. This first one could probably be Jiricek or Nemec. Not to mention the fact that Miller is now better than Myers and their contracts are incomparable. Pettersson is certainly a great young center, but you have chosen the wrong team to trade.
