Why I think Ryan Suter could be traded if he waived
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RalphMac</b></div><div>I would tend to agree with most of your points. BUT, like you said Suter is such a consistent D, and still has so much game left in him, and still has an advantage for the wild to keep him. I think moving Brodin makes way more sense to me. Younger guy on a decent contract, with a lot of upside. Especially with the unexpected play of rookie Soucy, having Suter/Spurgeon Soucy/Dumba as your top 4 looks pretty darn good</div></div>
However MIN's entering a rebuild and this may be their last chance to trade Suter...

Selling a lot
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey123</b></div><div>What would you do differently</div></div>
Well, to begin with, Alex Stalock has started 21 games and is 10-7 with a .906 save percentage, numbers that are better than some teams' starters, so you should be able to get a third-round pick for him from teams in need of inexpensive, quality backups (like San Jose and Toronto, to name just two). At this point in his career, Jesse Puljujarvi is a stab in the dark and you shouldn't have to spend a quality player, even one with attenuated term like Jonas Brodin, to get him. (With Oscar Klefbom and Darnell Nurse on the left side, the Oilers don't really need Brodin, anyway.) Inasmuch as Minnesota almost certainly won't make the playoffs this year, your objective for players like Brodin and Ryan Donato should be to get high draft picks (thirds or better) for them. Marcus Foligno is a character 40-point forward who should bring more than that return and Toronto doesn't need more depth on the wing. Matt Dumba is every bit as good as Jake Trouba (at the worst), so he should bring you a first and Kapanen and probably quite a bit more because the Jets were under pressure to move Trouba, which deflated his value significantly. Finally, Jason Zucker, whatever your feelings for him, is a top-6 forward and Alex Galchenyuk seems to be busy proving he's not and even if he is, is a UFA; that mass of draft picks doesn't seem to make the deal for a dubious backup goalie any better.

Why would the Wild do this? Fiala has been our best forward for months now and Kahkonen has showed legitimate starter potential.

Alternative to Detroit post i saw
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RalphMac</b></div><div>Honestly Brodin makes more sense, and <a href="/users/TanSor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@TanSor</a> is probably gonna let me have it for not valuing Dumba higher, but I was just going off a previous post for Dumba and Larkin. Both Dumba and AA are having down seasons so a change of scenery might be good for both</div></div>
Honestly Dumba probably cost us Mantha, Pretty sure the Wild are extremely high on him for what i've been seeing. Thought something as a base around AA for Jonas Brodin made tons of sense. Detroit will be looking at more LD help down the road then RD help. If we get the #4 overall pick i'd not be surprised if Yzerman doesn't draft Jamie Drysdale at RD Drysdale, Hronek, Seider would be pretty sick. LD Cholowski, Brodin and DeKeyser wouldn't be to bad either.

It's underwhelming but if we're moving Dumba I'd audibly groan if we move him for another left shot wing. We have way too many as is, especially with Kaprizov coming. Moving Dumba has to be for a center if we do move him and I view AA as purely a winger. I know he can play center, but I just like him on the wing a lot more than down the middle.

Detroit takes that and runs, I thought an AA for Brodin deal made a lot of sense for both teams.

Another Scenario
i wish I knew if Grigorenko’s game would translate to the NHL now...if it does, and the Wild get lucky and Get to draft Byfeld, I like this a lot! I would also have to be sold on Liljegren as there seems to be a wide variety of opinions on him.

You missed your chance to get Nylander for Dumba, right now its a non starter. Nylander is young, has a terrific contract and is going no where.

I still think this trade would work as is because PIT would have $6M in additional space with Guentzel on LTIR.

Edmonton is overpaying and I just can't see the Wild retaining that much for that long, this trade is the equivalent of 4-1st round picks for Zucker, I like Zucker and think he's what Edmonton needs right now but give me a break that's way too much for him.

If Pittsburgh can make the cap work they accept easily. Moving down probably 10-20 spots with downgrading at forward(is it really) and getting a top 6 LHD. Accepted all day long

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RalphMac</b></div><div>do you think vegas should add more to the trade?</div></div>
I don’t think the Wild should go for Schmidt. If it does happen I’d take out Staal and the 2nd. That’s should be enough, if not a low round pick would probably be the only thing needed to be added in. But I doubt Vegas trades Schmidt anyway

Pens are not interested in moving McCann so they decline. As for the Montreal deal, i think if you take out one of the 3 assets coming back it isn’t terrible, but still unlikely Montreal accepts.

Florida
I could see Tippett+2nd for Zucker, but with the Panthers looking like they're a potential contender (If Bob decides to stop some pucks), I just doubt they'd move Dadonov.
I get that there's not enough cap space in Florida to make the trade unless they move out someone like Dadonov (or Hoffman, or Matheson, or someone along those lines), but the upgrade just isn't significant enough to give up Tippett's ELC, especially since they'll need it.

I want Greenway because hes played with Logan Brown before. I wouldn't mind switching to a 3rd or 4th. But you guys have a lot of left shot LW, you get a right shot centre/RW that's versatile

Smart Rebuild
Galchenyuk trade isn't too bad, but if we're rebuilding it doesn't make sense to acquire a rental unless you're planning on flipping him. Still think I'd rather trade Brodin for picks than Galchenyuk, though.
Vancouver says no. Hughes is looking like a potential Norris candidate in the future. You'll probably have to give up way more than what would be fair to get him. Sergachev is probably a more realistic trade target if you're looking for a young LD.
STL says no. Rask has negative value and Donato isn't worth much more than a 3rd at this point.
DET says no. They are in a rebuild so they don't need Dubnyk. A team like Carolina might pay a 3rd or a 2nd if you're lucky for him, though.
I like the general idea here, which is to get younger and acquire picks. This team needs an influx of youth and speed.
