I wouldn’t say he converted him alone, but he definitely started the process and seemed to have had a good impact on him.

Oh come on, just because the results came more in following years, you really don’t think Torts had anything to do with it? Please. Lars couldn’t coach Chris Pronger to play defense.

All jokes aside he'd do terrible in Torts' system so this would probably be a negative for the Flyers.</div></div>
Torts helped turn him into a 200ft player. He was CBJs best defensive forward last year by several metrics.

Looks good from where I’m sitting. Improves the locker room and the center depth. I’m tired of valuing Laine by his potential instead of his actual results. He’s either hurt, on fire, or invisible. No consistency, cannot be relied on, and has crap body language and attitude. He works hard enough and he’s skilled, but he doesn’t have that dawg in him.

Adding some fire
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>theleano1</b></div><div>there's absolutely no reason for Vancouver to do that.</div></div>
Yeah, there is a pretty broad spectrum of how people feel about Miller’s contract. CBJ could certainly add, but there will probably be some comments here who are the other side of it. Severson’s deal isn’t great either with that term, but it would give VAN a pretty good top pair option that can play well with QH.
Both deals are a little light in favor of CBJ, because that’s how I like my trades, and Jarmo has pulled off more than a few like that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>titchy_jelly</b></div><div>Gaudreau and the second don’t mix in my mind, either he’s on your first or he’s not on your team</div></div>
Gaudreau is a great player but it’s pretty obvious that he cannot carry a team. He needs space to be able to operate and be affective. He had that in Calgary playing on a line with Lindholm and Tkachuk.
Putting Jenner on his opposite wing will give him someone who can forecheck aggressively and help create space for him, and Fantilli is obviously a very skilled center who has already been pretty effective as a 19-year-old and should be able to learn to play with control pretty quickly. Jenner can still take some faceoffs for that line as well to help earn possession.
This gives the Jackets closer to two number one lines than a typical 1 and 2, and I would anticipate that those top two lines draw very similar TOI numbers.
Just being the top line winger on paper is nothing but an ego and status thing which doesn’t matter at all to Gaudreau. All players want is to win, and these moves give CBJ some very good vets who play with passion and can help push this franchise forward.

Really all boils down to whether or not Lindholm is willing to re-sign, because there is not a chance in hell that Jarmo trades futures without knowing for sure that Lindholm isn’t walking out the door at the end of the year.

Playoff team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Indy</b></div><div>I know Calgary would want 3 1st round picks or something out there for such a deal but this is probably one of the best offers your gonna get. That being said I really don't wanna shoot our 1st round pick with everything going on right now just incase.</div></div>
We’ve got all the prospects we need for the next 3 years. At that point we will be a young team with the money to lock up our best young players, and can start replenishing the pipeline again. Our next two 1sts are highly expendable IMO.

Wham bam thank you maam
I can’t see WPG taking back Roslovic.
I think Roslovic is a lot like Domi in that he’s a very inconsistent point producer, and sometimes gets lost defensively, only Roslovic doesn’t have as high have an office of upside, nor does he bring a physical energy. Nobody’s gonna trade for him, he will go to free agency, and probably sign a $1-$2 million prove-it deal.

Accepting Offer From NYI Fan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aebexz</b></div><div>Might be wrong about these takes but I genuinely think both Islanders and Toronto accepts. Regarding the rest I don’t think so.
Blue Jackets fans will not accept the Peeke trade and it won’t even be close because they see him as a decent top 4 guy with some great defensive upside alongside a fantastic contract.
Nashville is weird but from what I understand they will use this year to just evacuate things. But the one thing I don’t think they’ll do is give away draft picks.
The Vancouver trade will be a big no from the Canucks side. A top 10 draft pick for a 2nd rounder from the same draft just speaks for itself considering neither of them has established themselves in the NHL.
Last but not least it’s Minnesota. Järnkrok is great but I doubt they would part ways with Foligno and his play-style for him. Regarding Middleton, he’s on their 1st pairing for a reason. Plus, Why would Minnesota give up every last dollar of their cap space to not get better? I can see them at least thinking about Järnkrok-Foligno but never Middleton-Brodie</div></div>
What CBJ fans are you talking to because 90% of us think he’s a 3rd pair only player and he’s slightly overpaid. He blocks shots and hits, but consistently gets walked and doesn’t do **** on offense. He’s played top-4 the past two years because of injuries and Boqvist not developing, and he’s been horrible against the tougher competition. That’s why Jarmo went out and overpaid for Severson.

People are sleeping on Tex. He’s a smart kid and talented player. He make take a little bit of time to get back up to NHL speed, but I truly think he’s going to pop this year and could finish with 20-22 goals playing 3rd line minutes and PK.

Biggest Trade ever
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Intriguing....
It would obviously take a massive haul to get Bedard, but I can't see Jenner being part of it, or Jones coming the other way. Fantilli, Jiricek, and a 1st, probably more. The issue isn't sacrificing the future, it's sacrificing a few potentially elite pieces for one potentially generational piece. I'm not sure that's a wise decision in today's NHL, where even the best players only play 25-30 minutes a night.
I think if it were to happen, the trade would have had to have happened at the draft, before those picks turned into the actual players. If you're trading Jiricek, 3OA, next year's first, etc. for 1OA, that's one thing. Once you put faces to those picks and get them into the organization, it's way harder to justify a trade.</div></div>
I wouldn’t trade Fantilli. Dead stop.
This is as close to a legit trade as I think could be made for Bedard. Yes losing Jenner is incredibly painful, and taking back Jones is a big risk, but reuniting him with Werenski is probably a better situation for him than any other

Biggest Trade ever
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>yeah, could be more in the end. I was just trying to come up with a comparable that his as close to the gretzky trade as possible. at the time Carson was seen as one of the best prospect in the game. Dont think people will talk about laine as a prospect anymore. 5 years ago it would have been perfect for him for sure!</div></div>
Sure, but there is also Jiricek and Johnson here, who are two of the best prospects in the league right now. The side by side comparison is as for value sake, if you still just want to look at future upside and youth, this trade has that also with Jiricek Johnson, Sillinger and the unprotected pick - which still has a chance of being high since our top two centers (albeit are studs) are rookies.

Biggest Trade ever
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>the big thing i disagree is the carson part, age wise fantilli is way closer to to carson than laine. laine was a second overall 7 years ago as opposed to 2 years for carson.</div></div>
Fair argument but they aren’t that far off. Both had 50 goal potential. Carson really dropped off after his first three years. Yes he was younger at the time of the trade with huge upside, but I’d say Laine has equal upside even if he’s older, he’s still only 25.
Even if you give that comparable slightly to Carson because of his age at the time of trade, I think the aggregate still comes out in favor of being greater for Bedard due to Kent Johnson and Boone Jenner being included. Every other comparable besides Carson/Laine outweighs the Gretzky trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>to get a closer trade to the getzky one, it probably would be jiricek, fantilli, 3 first round pick unprotected and (whatever is the equivalent of 15m?) would you do that trade? if the answer is no, then what you are offering right now is probably less than the gretzky trade value wise!</div></div>
For Gretzky vs. for Bedard:
Carson (2OA pick) = Laine (2OA pick)
Gelinas (7OA pick) < Jiricek (6OA pick)
3 late 1sts < Johnson (5OA), Sillinger (12OA) and a ‘24 1st
$15m < taking Jones $9mx7 and sending back a great contract, leader and centerman in Jenner.
Conclusion: Gretzky deal < Bedard deal

Value wise, I think it’s pretty even, but I would be happy to hear what you might feel needs to be changed.
CBJ are giving a lot, and it’s certainly a high risk move for both sides, but imagine that Bedard pans out and is the next generational player in the NHL, and having him and Fantilli down the middle for the next 15 years. I’ll wait while you go change your pants.
