<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ploppz</b></div><div>I believe that KK's term is way too long for what he's accomplished. He also played with Aho and Teuvo or Trocheck &amp; Teuvo for the first 20-25 games of the season, and he played a fair share of games with Necas as well, so i'm not really buying into the Lorentz and Martinook argument. It's not like he was dumped on the 3rd line from the get go. In fact, only on 4 of his 12 goals last season was he primarily assisted by a bottom 6 forward, while the other 8 goals were assisted by defensemen or top 6 forwards. As for KK's assists, only 3 out of his 7 primary assists were to someone who'd be classified as a bottom 6 forward. So again, not like he was scraping the bottom of the barrel all season long.

Grubauer was horrible. If you like advanced stats, go look up his WAR and his Goals saved above expected. Even Arizona's goalie Vejmelka was better with close to the same amount of games played. I get that it was a new team but a lot of goalies transitions to new teams without stinking up the joint like he has.</div></div>
When he played with Aho and Trocheck, it was as a winger, but he looked very out of place, since he is a natural center man. I can understand why you would argue that the term is a bit much for what he has done so far, but just looking at how he was utilized, his game was much better as a C which is why he didn’t stay with Aho and Trocheck but got shifted down to 4C relatively quickly. In the small sample size he had as a 2C with at least 15:00 minutes TOI, if I remember correctly, his PPG was at a 1.5PPG pace. Like I said before, this year will be the make it or break it year for KK, and if what he showed in that small sample size last year is the real KK, he will have one of the best value contracts in the league.

As for Grubauer, I would agree that most goalies won’t stink up the joint in their first year with a new team. I believe the best comparable would be Markstrom and his first year with Calgary. The situations are very similar, and I would imagine Grubauer will bounce back much like Markstrom did. So only judging a player on what they did in the first year of their contract with a new team before even seeing the remainder of his contract kind of seems dumb. Of course, there is the possibility that he sucks for the rest of his contract, but if the comparable to Markstrom is any good, I would bet he ends up bouncing back. I mean, it’s not like goalies never have a bad season, and right now, I would take the stance that Grubauer had a bad season on a new team. I won’t make any judgement on the contract until at the very least next offseason, when he has adjusted to the new setting. But I digress, and we can just agree to disagree.
