I hope Yager is ready, that would be awesome, but I doubt it. He'll at the very least need some time in the AHL before he gets called up.

Team Vibes and Lines I Would Try
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>I agree with your points about Ruhwedel, the only question at this point seems to be do we see 1 or 2 of shea and ludvig next game, given the news that letang may be injured. Graves-Shea
POJ-Ludvig</div></div>
I don't like the idea of playing both Shea and Ludvig, but I also haven't watched Ludvig play at all and I've only seen this preseason of Shea. So I bet Ruhwedel does get moved up...unfortunately. After Letang and Karlsson we don't have any depth at Right D.

Team Vibes and Lines I Would Try
I think the bottom 6 is being criticized by a lot of fans, but last night the bigger problem in my eyes was Chad Ruhwedel. One of the goals he screened Jarry, one he got beat wide (he was trying to take the body which was the right play), and on the penalty kill later in the game he was in front of the net not trying to move or stick check anyone. The third was a lucky rebound off of Jarry right onto the stick of the redwing player but Ruhwedel wasn't helping. I was comfortable going into the season with him on the 3rd pair, but after the last few games POJ (he didn't play good last night either) and Chad are NOT a good pairing. We need a legit 3rd pair defenseman for POJ. Whether that's Ludvig, T. Smith, Ouellet, or even Fedun.
I would be okay with White playing on the third line for a short time, but after his extremely underwhelming preseason (in my opinion) he should have a short leash. And also, YES can Sullivan please sit Carter. I don't understand his obsession. Last night with less than 3 minutes left he threw out the 4th line...why?? I get the top 2 lines needed to rest, but if that's the case throw out Eller, Acciari, and Nieto. Or anyone that's not named Jeff Carter.
Carter is not the single player dragging this team down though which is improvement from last year.

This seasons outlook
I agree with everything you said, but I'm not sure who you could even go after to be that energy and skill guy. I mean Garland sticks out to me, but he's a little small. Also, at the trade deadline, could look at Zucker coming back with retention to play on the third line.

I like it. I think Hinestroza could do really well next to Sid too. Sorta like a Connor Sheary.

I could see the Pens entertaining that trade, since we have Ty Smith too, but it would just depend on how training camp shakes out.

I think Pysyk is better than Ruhwedel, not by much, but still. But you're right about White probably being sent down to WBS if he does get a contract.

just a look at depth for bottom of lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurebobmckenzie</b></div><div>agreed. Hajek maybe could bounce back in WBS hopefully, he’s just never really put it all together. I think that O’Connor could hopefully pot some playing full time on the 3rd line. Or we could drop one of Smith, Rust, or Rakell down, too. It’ll be interesting to see how the team shakes out this coming season.</div></div>
I'd be really interested to see how well one of the young guys could do in a top 6 role. Like Puustinen, Nylander, or maybe Poulin? Then you could drop Smith or Rust (I'd keep Rakell in the top 6). You could even try someone like Johnsson or Pitlick up there.

Libor Hajek is kinda buns, but Pysyk would be a small upgrade over Ruhwedel I think. Overall, there is a clear emphasis on defense with this team's depth. In theory, I think it could work, but in practice...I don't know. I'm a little worried about the lack of offense in the bottom 6, but if you get a healthy Karlsson then he alone can add significant production. I think this team is certainly better than whatever the hell last year's bottom 6 and defense was.

Final Roster v2
I really like our team overall, I think the biggest lacking area is 3C. I think Noel Acciari would do better as 3C than Eller, but I still would like to see an upgrade at the deadline. (Assuming we are in a position to add). And if Pysyk can stay healthy, I think that's an upgrade over Ruhwedel. And Tatar would be huge in the bottom 6, but it's seemingly less and less likely especially because we would have to give him such a low salary.

If he gets 8 mill or less then they're probably fine. The cap is for sure at least going up by 3-4 million, that has been said by multiple different sources. Plus, with Carter's contract coming off next year that's more than enough to add to Guentzel's next contract.

He's certainly expendable this year. Probably don't need to worry about a waiver claim, but if you do send him down and he gets claimed then you have plenty of other options to fill that role.

Opening Night Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yenzer</b></div><div>One of the things that I love about what Dubas has done is add enough depth to create competition. Seems like people are high on Nylander, but he's going to be pushed by Hinostroza and Johnsson, Poulin, and Zohorna. It will be interesting to see Smith and POJ compete, but I think Butcher is a dark horse to win that spot as well. There's also several guys who might be vying for that top six role while Jake is out. This is all so different from last year.
It will also be interesting to see how the PP shakes out. I for one hope they don't take Rakell off the top unit.</div></div>
Yeah there definitely will be a lot of internal competition for bottom 6 spots. I'm interested to see how Poulin does. I hope he wins the spot, but if not then I hope somebody shows something promising, whether that's just some chemistry or play driving.
And as for the PP situation, I agree. I want them to let Letang run his own PP and put Rakell on PP1. I mean just imagine you're the opposing team fending off Sid, Geno, and EK65 for 1:15-30 then you have to deal with Letang, R. Smith, and Rust or whoever on PP2. PP2 might score more than PP1 just because they get the easier matchups. You could even switch it up and roll out PP2 to start lol and let PP1 clean up the scraps if they don't score. We have a lot of good options when it comes to the PP this year.
