Pinto is a headache to play against. You don’t trade him

There's no reason for Ottawa to trade their first this year. Period.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>simonveilleux</b></div><div>You've been accumulating prospects for some time now. By the time the player drafted this year becomes a DOMINANT player (whether it's Dickinson, Lindstrom, Silyaev, or anyone else), some of your core players (like Batherson, Tkachuk, Chabot, Norris) will be past their prime. In my opinion, you would be better served with a slightly older prospect who is NHL-ready and a veteran.</div></div>
We have not been accumulating prospects. We have been trading out picks and prospects away.
Peep the prospect pool rankings put out by any organization and then explain why OTT should trade away 7OA

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OwnGoal</b></div><div>My argument for the Chych trade would be that Conner, Ehlers and Lowry all have 1 or 2 seasons remaining before UFA this would be a way to load up for a run this season. Iafallo has 1yr remaining at about the same cap hit and the real question would be would Chych have a bigger impact on this team or Iafallo.</div></div>
Yeah, I can understand that aspect, but that's a lot to pay for one year of a player. Additionally the Jets are more than a "Chychrun" away from being a serious contender. So, I don't see him making much if any difference next year.

Winnipeg should and would say no to the first one. Too much for one year of a player that won't resign and doesn't fill a need.
The Jets consider the 2nd one but most likely Pulock and the Islanders don't.

Lol declined easily. Lekkerimaki is in any Brady trade. We actually want Lekkerimaki AND Willander to even consider.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OwnGoal</b></div><div>It’s an interesting proposal but Ottawa takes all the risk in Marner being a pending UFA</div></div>
This is where the Marner to Ottawa thing falls to pieces. They either lose him after 1 year, or they have to give him a raise, when he already makes too much

Tbf the only reason we'd want Marner is to play him on a line with Brady so doesn't make sense for us.

Tkachuk is a total non option for Ottawa. Point blank, end of discussion. You move Tkachuk, you're moving everyone but Timmy and Sandy and starting from scratch

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OwnGoal</b></div><div>I don’t really see how they could move him. They don’t have a deep prospect pool and they lack draft capital for sweeteners. Likely their best course of action is to run it back with Korpi and sign a competent back up (eg, Stolarz) in this scenario.</div></div>
Yes. No way they dump Korpisalo in a trade. Either keep him or buyout if you’re getting an elite expensive goalie in another trade

Does any of this really matter tho if Korpisalo is still the starting goalie? Like if he can’t bounce back really nothing matters unfortunately for you guys.

Should do the trick.
And probably a decent goalie</div></div>
I would do unspeakable things to add Mason Marchment to this team.

I'd move Kelly over, simply because you get next to nothing for him anyway. Valuable defensive player, pest, community guy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Counter point would be you've got less than 12 mil next season and have 6 spots to fill, including a top 6 LW. Pinto might become a luxury that can't be afforded.
Or you could bail out from under Chychrun but then you've got another hole to fill, and a big part of Chychruns value was his team friendly deal.</div></div>
if the Sens find themselves in desperate need of cap space, there are SO many other things they can do instead of trading Pinto

Pinto is one of our only forwards who actually play a complete 200 foot game. Coaches trust him defensively to play against the opposing teams best lines, and he's already been playing on the top line with Brady and Batherson. Norris being out sucks, but Pinto has propelled himself as our 2C of the future regardless if Norris is back or not. Outside of Timmy, Brady and Sanderson I'd pretty confidently say Pinto is our 4th most valuable player therefore being untouchable.

Agree. Fans of teams probably know more about their long term contract health than other fans, though my guess is the knowledge of what it will take to sign a player is probably equally shallow :)
Teams carry 22 rosters and can fill secondary voids with minimum players whether they are at their AHL level as vets or prospects.
I generally assume if you have 7 slots to fill, 4 of them will be close to minimum salaries. Then it’s trying to figure out and balance the rest. I don’t know NY’s long term cap position, but assume they will prioritize Lindhren.
Carolina, on the other hand, looks like they are going to have to prioritize and will likely lose some players. They seem to be planning for it well though

I don't see the Bruins taking Forsberg back at that cap hit unless they have a plan to move Bussi in another trade and think they can't sign Lindholm or another impact dman.

Defensively you could say his -30 is pretty bad but when you consider the poor team defence and the “goaltending” the senators got this year you can’t really blame the guy for most of it haha</div></div>
Judging McAvoy by points alone rather than complete play. All I’m suggesting is that the standard comp is a first and a third for an expiring contract.
