Why does NJ do this?

1. They are giving up primarily futures/unproven players on a team full of young talent, simply, other than Nemec, many of the players are redundant
2. Tatar is a cap move and not core given age and expiring contract
3. Picks will be late firsts
4. Uniting all 3 Hughes brothers is a marketing boon, not to mention you're getting a PPG defenseman
5. Demko is a top 5 goalie when healthy...

NJ is getting a cup from this

Vancouver
1. Hard to move 2 of their core pieces for futures but it restocks their shelves with youth
2. Some of the picks gained can be used to back fill other areas
3. Canucks need to reset

These two teams are a marriage made in heaven, one has a ton of youth it legitimately has no room for, the other has the pieces that puts NJ into a decade of contender status and likely a few cups.

Boeser is due a 7.5 mil qualifying offer. He's not worth even the 6 mil I signed and traded him at. He's a one dimensional player who can't skate. I love him as a person, he's a high character guy but you can't pay an inconsistent support winger 6-7.5 mil long term and expect to win a cup. A btw,

That trade fills a major hole for Vancouver (young RD) and creates the cap flexibility to make more moves and ensure they have cap to keep Miller and Bo the following year.

I'd be happy with Marino from Pittsburgh as well. Rumours were that was being discussed before the trade deadline.

Its good to know fans in the league see Boeser with alot of value haha! Canucks fans know he's not worth close to his 7.5 mil qualifying offer. I would argue not even 6 mil long term. He is a poor skater, does not use his size (and he's a big strong guy), and is really a very one dimensional complementary player. He cannot create on his own due to his lack of speed and yes has a terrific shot and can finish but that's it. Too many nights he's invisible. Our team is not fast, if he's on a fast team or playing with very fast players who can create room for him, he can be very successful. On the Canucks, we need more from 7.5 mil players, he is just not worth the money. Pearson is to create cap room, and while he's solid, if we can sign Evander Kane (who still wants to play at home) for cheap given his age and history he's a big upgrade on Pearson.

As for Forsberg, he is only 27 (Boeser is 24 going on 25, not much of an age gap), and he's been very consistent in his career. I don't see that as a huge overpayment and he's a major upgrade on Boeser as he is a fantastic skater and can put up numbers just as good or better.

Sujet: Canucks 2018-19 rebuild complete
1. Do not re-sign the Sedins if you can sign Tavares - will be hard but worth taking a run at him. This allows Sutter to play his proper 3c role until his contract is done, then slot Peterrson in the 3c role and work him in slowly.
2. Tavares will only be 27, alot of time left and with he Bo and Sutter down the middle that is one of the deepest Center ice positions in the NHL
3. Kane wants to come home and won't get overpaid given his history. If he shows he's 'cleaned up' that salary is fair and the first two lines are Deep
4. Trades - Edler and Karlsson play well together (worlds), with Ottawa losing Methot, that hole will be exposed. Assuming Edler will waive you move him 2017/18 at the deadline for the first. Ottawa is in win now mode, this is plausible. And Edler when playing with enthusiasm is still a very good dman. He will be rejuvinated in Ottawa
5. Erickson back to Dallas at the deadline like Edler- hopefully has a solid year and perhaps retain a bit of salary, and even take a lower pick, Dallas also in win now mode, and he played a long time there, likely willing to go back for a cup run
6. Gagner is a good utility player, hopefully a solid year, ups his trade value, Montreal needs offense
7. Sign Carlson, (maybe you have to up his pay 1 mil but worth it) -gives us a LEGIT 1D
8. Olli should be ready
9. This team is deep all the way through, perhaps pick up a gritty dman or hopefully Pedan is ready for that 7/8 spot to add toughness when needed.
10. It also gives time for Jagdovich, Lind, Petterson, Dhalen to develop at their own pace, and when they are ready ease them into the line up.
11. Petersson should be ready when Sutter is 1 year from UFA, allowing him to be moved, the team will still be very young for the most part.
