Florida declines. They won't waste the cap space for even 50% of Myers' contract. If they want a big defenseman they'd go for someone like the Islanders Scott Mayfield who's a UFA the Isles probably won't be able to afford to resign.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slomo</b></div><div>Is your reasoning to include Tanev just a cap dump?</div></div>
No the Sens are fine at LD now but still weak at RD and right shot D in general. Besides a 2nd is selling low on Tanev. If he's healthy he'll fetch a late 1st at the trade deadline and if not he's still easily worth a 2nd just for his play during the regular season. But Calgary will need to move at least one of the pending UFAs out if they want to bring anyone good in and Tanev is my first choice to move.

Calgary's 2024 1st round pick has prior conditions attached to it from an earlier trade with Montreal. If Montreal takes the 2024 pick then Arizona gets a 2025 1st (Florida's originally) instead.
One thing that could be a problem is Arizona is already loaded with picks they may prefer good young players and/or prospects over more picks.
Ottawa gets what they've been looking for a top 4 RD at a bargain price. If they add more Calgary could send them Vladar too.

Maybe Ottawa should trade Debrincat for Marner. :P I doubt Toronto would be interested and even if they were Ottawa would need to add on that one. Marner may not be worth what Leafs fans think he is but Debrincat is worth even more less than Ottawa fans think.

Keller for 11th overall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>Agreed, but I, as a biased fan, would rather not pay what he's worth.
I'd also give Arizona a near blank check of our picks for the next two years, but I'm sure they'd like older prospects instead.</div></div>
The only thing I'd criticize about Keller is he's a little on the small side but that's a minor thing. He's productive and he's been around long enough to prove he's durable enough. Still if I was adding a player from Arizona I'd want Lawson Crouse who wouldn't cost as much to acquire or pay.

11th OA isn't getting Keller with cap dumps Myers and Boeser included in the deal. The 2 AHL players and a 3rd don't move the needle either.

Why would Winnipeg trade a player under contract for 2 more years at a reasonable cap hit for an RFA player with a too high QO who they probably won't be able to sign long term?
Also that 4th for Barulin is a waste of a pick. At his age Barulin won't be coming to North America unless Ottawa very significantly overpays him. Or maybe you though you were getting 26 year old RW Vladislav Barulin instead of 38 year old goalie Konstantin Barulin.

Ottawa fans need to realize they're not going to recoup their investment in Debrincat. If they don't trade him for a loss soon they're going to have to give him his QO and either move him as a deadline rental or lose him as a UFA next summer.

Hart is valuable but not THAT valuable. Besides Toronto didn't lose because of goaltending they lost because they have poor defense, not much depth and other than Nylander the 4 for 40 forwards didn't seem to care if they won or lost.

My bias really? I like Montreal and I don't like Winnipeg. Habs fans really need to stop posting these ridiculously one sided homer trades. Caufield and 31/32 OA is not worth Dubois and 2 firsts.

You're reading it wrong it's worse than that Levi is going to Montreal. The OP obviously hasn't figured out how to change which team a player is going to in a multi team trade yet so he's just moving him again when trade machine has him going to the wrong team.

Core will never win with marner so time to trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jr400</b></div><div>I don't have a problem with losing a player for nothing if he gives you a chance to win the cup before he goes. It isn't really for nothing because you get back his cap space, which has value. I'd rather see Toronto hang onto Matthews and Nylander for one more year than trade them and weaken the team now. Calgary was a contending team with Gaudreau so I wouldn't have traded him. I would have even been ok with keeping Tkachuk for another year, though it probably made sense to trade him once Gaudreau left.</div></div>
I agree it's probably worth it for Toronto to hang onto both Matthews and Nylander I just believe if Treliving does trade one of the 4 it'll probably be Nylander. Marner is the one who should be traded but it'd have to happen real soon before his full NMC kicks in for the last 2 years of his contract. Treliving won't move that fast so he won't be able to trade Marner leaving Nylander and Matthews as the only options.
Gotta disagree with the rest though. gaudreau isn't a player you build a team around he's a soft contact adverse perimeter player you bring in (for the right price that is) to help an already contending team in need of more playmaking. IOW he's a complimentary player not a core player to build around. Tkachuk and Lindholm were the keys to that line last year not gaudreau he was just along for the ride collecting easy points for passing the puck to the guys doing all the hard work.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jr400</b></div><div>Treliving made lemonade out of that lemon, but then he turned it sour by signing Huberdeau to a bad contract before he even put on the sweater.</div></div>
Agreed he got a good return for Matthew but blew it by overpaying Huberdeau about as badly as Dubass overpaid Marner.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jr400</b></div><div>Fortunately he can't give Matthews and Nylander contracts that run until they're 38 no matter how much he'd like to.</div></div>
LOL, thank your lucky stars for that. He would if he could!

The going rate for D
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jr400</b></div><div>Seems like a high price for only one year of Hanifin. Has he said he won't sign an extension?</div></div>
No he hasn't. Many of us fans would like to trade him because we're probably going to have to move at least one of the pending UFAs and the defense is pretty strong making Hanifin likely the most expendable as well as likely fetching a return as good as or better than any of the others except Lindholm who we won't trade unless he won't extend.
To clarify my earlier comment if it was just Hanifin for the 9th OA Calgary could add a pretty good (but not top) prospect a couple 2nd round picks or something of comparable value. Or make it 9 OA + a good prospect, bottom 6 roster player or Detroit's 2023 2nd and Calgary might be willing to add their own 16th OA.
Not top prospect means not Wolf, Pelletier, Coronato, Zary or Poirier.

The 9th OA is enough to get Hanifin but we won't be giving Detroit Vladar and dropping down 1 spot on our own pick too. One or the other is doable but not both.

Why on earth would Winnipeg even consider trading PLD + two firsts for Caufield and a very late first? They can easily get a 1st and more for PLD from a contender at next years trade deadline.
Make it Dach and the Florida 1st for just PLD and Winnipeg accepts otherwise they tell Montreal to go kick rocks.

LOL @ how it's always some other team giving up an early pick so Montreal can steal a top goalie / goalie prospect from someone.
Oh wait, that pick is actually going to Montreal making the trade even worse!
Buffalo tells Montreal to go pound sand.

That's his MO.. Hang onto the wrong players for too long and lose them for nothing in the end while selling low on players he could have and should have kept around. If he trades any of the 4 it'll be Nylander the one he should keep.

The Rangers GM would have to be looking to get fired if he accepted that offer. Drop 2 or 3 maybe even as much as 5 or 6 spots sure but dropping 14 spots costs more than that.

It takes more than that to get Hart. Bourgault isn't worth the pick he was taken with. His production is far lower now that he's in the AHL where they actually play defense and hit each other instead of the all offense Q.
75 points in 43 games in the Q last year - close to 2 PPG
34 points in 62 games in the AHL this year - not much more than 0.5 PPG
