Just a rule of thumb RE the Armia/Roslo deal. The whole point of that trade was for WPG to cut some cap so that they could stay compliant and or be able to spend cap elsewhere. That was a specific situation. Does that apply to WPG today? Do they need that much cap help in order to resign anyone or what not? Judging from their current situation and predicting what they'll need to do next year, I don't think they need to unload Perreault that much. There is even the possibility that they trade Perreault with retention for a cheap draft pick. @2M he is not a cap dump and some teams may actually be interested.
So recreating the Armia deal in this case is probably not gonna happen with WPG. Try teams like Tampa instead. They'll be tighter up against the cap than WPG will be.

TDL - Keeping Tatar and reinforcing for 20-21
I like this Drouin trade but I truly feel like this is just delaying the inevitable.. This won't make the Habs a playoff team next year. I'm for making this trade but it can't be the only one.
If you make that trade, i say you continue the purge and pick up more picks and prospects by moving Petry and Tatar.

Montreal and Chucky
I need to see more from Dube first before even considering this. I have a feeling his WJC hyped him up too much, just like Lazar was in his WJC year, and isn't the stud prospect everyone thought he might be based off that. But Im absolutely still reserving judgement to see what he can do this year since he is young. i just think he may top out as a really good 3rd line player.
I'm leaning on a solid no as of right now. Brodie is a UFA and a Dube is a mystery to me at this point. Hoping he can crack the Flames lineup and show he belongs first. Then maybe it would entice me, if I were Habs GM.

If FLA does end up signing Bobrovsky + Panarin, then what do they give up in order to make space for them? (Something has got to give with those significant contracts coming through the door)</div></div>
The thing is, if they do need to make moves to make cap space, the player's value won't automatically drop because they need space. Just saying the Panthers will get alot more for Hub than what you offered, that's all. And don't forget, they have the entire summer to meet the cap if they're above. They don't need to panic and execute a bad move

Sell High Buy Low... Shaw best value is right now...
Time to package him for a TOP LHD to team who needs versatile cup winner winger like him. (Juulsen is an example of adding value... could be Reilly, Brook or Fleury)
=Buffalo? Scandella + Olofsson (or another A prospect) for Shaw +4th
=Columbus? Murray (MTL add a 2nd)
=Florida? Matheson (MTL add a 4th)
=NJ? Vatanen (MTL add Juulsen)
=Pitts? Maatta +2nd
=Chi? Gustafson (MTL add Juulsen)
= Col? Zadorov (MTL add Juulsen)

=Edmonton? Sekera + 2019 8OA(Byram) (MTL add 2019 15th OA Kaliyev)

Both I think he will get like 3,5 or 4 millions for 2 years because he have a lot of injury and his game as been affected by that

If you want to avoid any criticism, just put what the Habs are trading to the isles Blank. That way its an open ended question. Doing what you suggest is just asking people to comment negatively even if your intentions was not to put the actual trade..

Really just throwing it out there. The AGM and Western Pro Scout were at the NYI-ARI game the other night which could be just be routine. But Leddy would be a great fix to the Habs LD situation and the NYI are retooling as well.
What would you put out there as a potential trade?</div></div>
I mean, I think the Isles are probably in a very similar situation to the Habs right now, in that people didn't think they'd be competitive, but they're still holding strong, so I'm not sure why they'd make the move?
If they fell out of it and moved him though, you'd have to think someone would give up a 1st and an ok prospect, or a good prospect and a 2nd?

Interesting. Not a fan of either team, so am not an expert at their values.
However, Philly finally gets a starting goalie, and get a good young center in return. However, their D isn't great right now, and Hagg is playing big minutes. (Besides, now COL does not have a backup goalie). Here is my revised trade.
Semyon Varlamov + Alexander Kerfoot
for
Wayne Simmonds + Michael Neuvirth + Oscar Lindblom
Good job OP. Well thought out proposal.

Habs fans i need your opinions here
No matter what, you should never want your team to lose. Playing well and making playoffs is nice but it also gives more experience to the young leaders currently on the team. Sure a top pick is amazing but you shouldn't purposely tank for that. In hockey nothing is guaranteed... not the pick, not the player, not the standings. You play and try to win until it's all over.
That being said, if Habs aren't in a playoff spot come the deadline, there player we could sell to get assets. We just shouldn't be making any costly moves that helps us make a run to the cup. I want longevity with this team, not a quick fix

Pitch for Coyle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>Hudon has no value. MN (like most teams) have Rau and Kloos sitting in Iowa that would give them the same 20p over a season as Hudon. He's a waiver fodder 4th liner. Wild already have Hendricks and Brown filling that role. He'd be at best the 6th best (I'd take Foligno over him too so 7th in my book) LHS wing on the Wild.</div></div>
1. I did say he was an add on
2. Hudon isn’t a 4th liner. He’s a middle 6 guy, because he’s much more of an offensive player than defensive. It just that Habs depth at wing in their top 9 is ridiculous, as mentioned in my previous comment, so there’s no room for him, same as their would be no room for Coyle. A player like Hudon is worth imo a 3rd or 4th rd pick. Again not saying the guy is amazing. But definitely not worthless considering MTL have been throwing away younger players with more potential through waivers (Scherbak, DLR) in favour of keeping him.
3. Realistically I think Coyle would fetch something similar to what MTL got for Eller, and what they paid for Shaw. Two 2nd rd picks. So my initial offer of Hudon + Ikonen is on the low side (ouuppss lol) but not that far off.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>The only thing that would really get MN's interest from MTL is Poehling. Shaw could be worked into a trade, but I don't like his contract.
This trade does nothing for MN. 2 waiver fodder players (as every MTL fan knows and why they are in every trade) and a worse draft pick for Coyle?</div></div>
Bergevin refused to move Poehling for ROR, zero chance he gets moved for Coyle.
I can see Hudon being of interest to MIN. He has an offensive touch and can play both LW or RW. Of course he would be an “add on” and not the Center piece of the deal. What about him and a young 2nd rd prospect? Ikonen?
But as much as it has been reported that MTL are interested in Coyle. I’m not sure where he’d Fit in the lineup... Shaw has great chemistry with Domi. Gallagher isn’t getting separated from Tatar. Lehkonen and Byron occupy the 3rd line wing and Armia is hurt but when healthy still averages upwards of 17minutes game. Unless Habs decide to lend Kotkaniemi to the WJ and FIN, and acquire Coyle to play at C. I don’t see it.

No real need for a D. Our 6 D are great and we have some good prospects in the system. Wild need scoring more than anything.

Doesn't really fix the Wild's needs. We have so many LW's that Nino is forced to play on RW, and the lack of a scoring right shot as been a thorn in our side for a long time now. Trading away Coyle only enhances that issue, unless we get a scoring right shot coming back. No way MTL trades Gallagher for Coyle (which is stupid anyways), so I don't see a good fit unless you sent us Suzuki (which again is stupid).
Basically, Coyle is a good fit for MTL, but the pieces of similar value that MTL owns don't fit the Wild's needs.

Well obviously the deal benefits the Jets way to much so that is why they won’t do it.?
Sarcasm aside. Jets have Conner and Ehlers already. LW is a strength. LD is a weakness. After Morrisey there is nothing. Trading from weakness to fix a strength is the opposite of how things are done. Perreault and a prospect might interest them. They can’t afford to lose Morrisey.

anyone who thinks a team that fell short of a cup isnt interested in a 5 time thirty goal scorer is naive .
now did MTL get to much in this deal , yeah a Morrisey alone has more value then Pacioretty who's a rental UFA
thats why it makes more sense for WPG to move out Myers or Byfluglien pending UFA's before Morrisey a RFA given he's their best LD prospect it makes more sense moving a RD then a LD
