I don't necessarily want them to, but out of the 3 RFAs (Yamamoto, McLeod, Puljujarvi), I could see Puljujarvi being the odd man out.

Puljujärvi could be a good winger with Stuzle, but not sure if he is really a true top 6 Winger and he isn't worth getting as a 3rd liner at that price.</div></div>
That's fair, I made this with obviously a ton of guesswork involved. The Oilers might have some use for a guy like Brown anyway. Could be a 3 way deal where we trade Puljujarvi to Ottawa, Barrie to Florida and get Gudas and Brown.

Fine, pass up the chance to get rid of Neal's terrible contract.
Hall in the top 6 instead of Kahun makes the Oilers a better team, and if they don't want to bring Hall back after the season, they now have a ton of cap space to sign someone else.

I would agree, but dumping Neal's contract is worth giving up the 1st.

Skinner's contract is horrendous, even with retention. 6 years of Skinner doesn't help us.

RNH at average of reported cap hit discussed and more
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>I wouldn’t, but apparently Holland’s highest is 7M, and someone will offer a huge amount. He is the best center in free agency this year. Rangers, Wild, Canucks, maybe even the Kraken will be paying a lot for him.</div></div>
Canucks have Pettersson and Horvat as Cs, Pettersson in for a huge raise. There's no spot for him there.
Rangers/Wild, maybe. Columbus/Montreal/Ottawa would probably pay him too I guess.
But I don't think any of those teams can offer him the opportunity to contend any time soon. I think Minnesota is smoke and mirrors this season - I expect a drop-off coming in the 2nd half of this season. If he wants to re-live his first 6 years in Edmonton on mediocre to bad teams, then he can leave. Or he can recognize what is building in Edmonton and contuinue playing with MVP calibre linemates.

RNH at average of reported cap hit discussed and more
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>But I want Getzlaf.... Nuge is still getting 7M in my opinion from Edmonton, but from a different team he could get 8+M.</div></div>
I'd lower that by about $1m.
I think RNH gets just over $6m from the Oilers, but could get $7m elsewhere. Nobody's paying RNH $8m. Career high 69 points, never 30 goals in a season, flat salary cap, clearly more of a 2C than a 1C. How does any of that scream "$8m"?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ConnorMcHellebucyk</b></div><div>Career ending? It’s just shoulder surgery. Man</div></div>
He has arthritis. If he doesn't want to risk being in constant pain like he has apparently been for long spurts of the past year or so, he may need a joint replacement which probably = retirement. If he doesn't get a replacement, any surgery they do is probably just a band-aid solution with pain returning again.

I think neal could be dumped at any time especially if he has just 1 year left. You wont get Tatar for a 1 year contract i dont think.</div></div>
Yeah, maybe they could get rid of Neal in his final season somehow to a rebuilding team if they attach a somewhat intriguing piece.
Agree on Tatar, I don't see him doing 1 year deal. More likely a 3year deal at minimum.

I'm a little skeptical about Hyman at that price and term. Good player, but my gut-instinct is that a hard-nosed type like him will have a hard time living up to that contract as he plays a pretty heavy/gritty game.

Real Decisions 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McDavidFan97</b></div><div>By my math we would have $17.3mill the following offseason with this plan. Nurse at roughly $7.5mill, Bear at $3.5mill, Pulju around $2mill, Lagesson probably gets a bridge around $1.5mill comes out to $14.5mill. Giving this a range, I'd we likely have to spend $13 - 16mill to keep all these guys. That leaves between $1.3 and $4.3mill to sign 2 roster players and a backup goalie. Currently I'd estimate it at being $2.5mill left over for those signings. It could work, but imo it's cutting it too close. Sign Tatar/McD's LW to a 1 year deal. If it works out. trade away a guy like Kassian or dump Neal to make room for all the signings. This is why I'm a big advocate for dumping Neal, it makes situations like this much much simpler</div></div>
If they can't pawn Neal off on someone, I think the play is buy-out him out in summer 2022. Let him play next season, and then buy-out afterwards, don't want 4 years of dead cap from a buy-out. Cap hit would be $1.95m for 22-23 and 23-24, so savings of almost $4m in 22-23.
I think Puljujarvi will be getting much more than $2m AAV on his next deal as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zmach</b></div><div>From the sounds of it Klefbom could be out till December just on Rehabing from the surgery.
Not sure what surgery he's getting whether it is a full replacement or just a meniscus rebuffing. The fact hes going for surgery sounds like his arthritis didnt actually improve from rest.</div></div>
From everything I've read about joint replacement, it would in all likelihood be career ending. A joint replacement is supposedly great for everyday life for people that aren't professional athletes, but the joint is at heightened risk of dislocation vs an original joint, not exactly conducive to contact sports. So realistically, the options for Klefbom are probably a) play a few more years and be in pain on-and-off, or b) get a shoulder replacement and be pain-free, but retire.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckYourself</b></div><div>Decline, not even remotely interested in the return CBJ is getting back in this deal. Jenner and Elvis are loved here and will be hard to pry away without overpaying since i don’t think CBJ want to trade Jenner at all and i think hes happy here. We would get better offers from other teams that have more players of interest to us. I think its more a mismatch of trade partners and i’m not sure you have the ammunition or willing to give it up, to make it happen. We believe either elvis or korpi can be our franchise goaltender, so that is essentially what a team will be getting when they acquire one of them in our view.</div></div>
I get why. I was very uncertain about the value of this deal. If Jenner is taken out of it, do the pieces come close for one of your two goalies? Both guys are 26 years old and a year away from UFA status. I doubt you will be retaining them both, as one of them probably wants to take a serious run at being a starter somewhere for more money.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zmach</b></div><div>I’m not sure edmonton can get Barrie for 5million. I also don’t think they can afford Jenner. That’s too cheap for RNH. Edmonton has to lose somebody to Seattle. There is a chance Klefbom is back next season</div></div>
Barrie: Depends on what he's looking for. He seems comfortable here and maybe that trumps a slightly better offer.
Jenner: That's fair, I wasn't sure about him, was just looking at 3C type options and he might be too pricey for that.
RNH: I wouldn't be so sure that he's getting more than that. If he's asking $7m I'm walking away, with $6.5m being the ceiling.
Expansion: Yeah, they may lose Jones or another depth D, but I didn't factor that because they can probably just sign a guy for league minimum that provides the same quality of play.
Klefbom: I wouldn't count on Klefbom being back. Even if he is, it's highly likely that he's on the shelf again within a year. His shoulder is arthritic and anything they do to it is only putting a band-aid on the problem because it almost certainly will flair up again.
